Story

Got him as a puppy. He has been such an amazing dog. He absolutely loves cuddling and does not leave your side. He loves being loved. He walks great on a leash and loves to carry packages and mail back home. He is great with other dogs, at dog parks he’d rather be sitting next to you instead of playing with the rest of the dogs. We brought home our baby in August and he has been very protective of him but does not allow my husband, family, or friends around the baby. I hate to rehome him as I’ve had since he was a puppy but my husband is tired of being barked at every time he’s around the baby.

Story

Roux is a very sweet, goofy dog who needs someone who can take it slow with him. I think he is around 5 years old. We are fostering him from a bad situation, so he has a few behavior problems. He doesn’t like new people immediately, but warms up pretty quick with food. Once he gets to know you, he is the sweetest and most loyal dog.He loves any type of food so that will really warm him up to you quick. He doesn’t do well with other dogs, but he seems to love cats. I’m not sure how he is around children, but I think he’d like a quiet home. He likes to play sometimes, but is more than happy to just relax and sleep in a warm bed. He also loves to roll around in the sun. He is house trained, but has accidents occasionally. He pees when he gets excited, or even when you just pet him. He is not very well trained, but he is crate trained. He is walks on a leash, but pulls pretty bad. He is a pretty anxious dog, so he needs a gentle home.

Story

Pepper has been with us for ~2 months after he was rescued wandering in a neighborhood and his owners could not be found. The vet estimates he is 3yrs old and he is crate trained. He is a sweet dog but not a good fit for our family. He is a very anxious little guy. He is scared by loud noises, rowdy kids, and being outside alone. He loves car rides, cuddles, and snuggling under a blanket. He is somewhat house trained, but is too anxious to do his business in our fenced back yard most of the time. He prefers to go to the bathroom when someone takes him to a small side or front yard. He is fine with older kids, but gets nippy with younger kids when they get excited. He’d do best in a house with adults that are home frequently and kids that are at least preteens.

Midnight ended up at animal control after his owners abandoned him at a clinic. He was held for a while but with so many dogs he ended up on the euthanasia list. Can you imagine? This little guy is a very nice dog with a great temperament. He loves to hang with his people way more than the other dogs at his foster home. He appears to prefer the company of the females in the foster home pack. His foster family believe he is mixed with corgi or other herding breed because he has a habit of jumping and mouthing to get attention. Midnight is not rally a vocal dog. But when he has something to say it is in a a "Big Dog" bark but the good news is he's not a huge barker unless he's excited about something. Midnight sleeps quietly in a crate like a gentleman. Midnight is completely potty trained. He no longer takes any medicine for anything but when he did he took it like a champ. He loves to chase a ball and bring it back to you to throw again. He loves to go for loooooooong leash walks. He needs a home with people that will dedicate time to his daily walks. This guy absolutely loves to explore the back yard and will definitely need a fenced yard. He is working on waiting but still is a BIG Door Darter. He is very excited to GO, GO, GOI! I'm Sprout, and I am a snuggle bug, big fan of the stuffy toy fetch game, and a devoted fan of the show Slow Horses. I am 110% dachshund. I have it ALL -- everything you've heard about dachshunds? I've got it. Snuggly? Check. Food motivated? Yup. Nosy up in all your business? Oh yeah. Demanding of attention? See "nosy." Burrow under blankies? All the time. Funny? SO FUNNY. Sweet kisses? I got 'em. Prey drive? Oh yeah. Show me the squirrel. And if you have a shed, I will get under it to hunt. . I'm 9 pounds of love and pure nerve. I love my people and I love my doggie friends. I'm a big fan of the couch cuddle -- with both people and doggies -- and of the doggie wrestling. I LOVE playing fetch and I love hangout time. Adults and kiddos over 10 only please. I had a disc rupture (darn dachshund genes) but I walk almost normally now. I can run and play with a fun little wobble but I cannot do stairs. (I can climb a ramp.) I have pretty good control of my bladder but if you give me a little extra squeeze when we go outside (foster mom will teach you), I don't leak in the house unless I get too full. Expressing a dog is easy peasy and foster mom is an expert teacher. If you keep me on a schedule, I do just fine. I have done physical therapy to improve my core strength. PILATES, anyone? I sometimes do not realize I am pooping, but most of the time I do well. I am a delight to be around and a real charmer. When someone new comes to the house, I will bark, but as soon as they pay the "Sprout Tax" (treats), we can be besties and I will want to be in their lap. Story

Dapples wandered into a yard with multiple cuts and scrapes. A Good Samaritan took her in and contacted DREAM after no owner was found. From her condition, she had not had much care in the past. She was underweight and had a mouth full of infection. She’s had some much needed dental care and quality groceries. The Veterinarian estimated her age to be 10 but she’s got many miles left on her paws and this little gal is ready to begin her new life. Dachshunds are an intelligent breed and Dapples fits that perfection. She’s a smart cookie but she has a strong desire for what “she wants”. So she needs an experience Doxie owner that knows how to provide loving structure to reinforce good behaviors and redirect undesirable behaviors. With clear, consistent and patience she does beautifully. For example, She will growl and bark at new people in HER space, BUT, if the introduction is slow and her foster dad holds her, she becomes confident and calm, and the barking is avoided and makes friends. Once she knows you, she’s a major snuggler. She'd love to sleep in your bed, but she sleeps in a crate next to the human bed, and she seems fine with that as well after a short whine until the lights are turned off. She is fully house-trained. She'll make a different pitch whine while in her crate if she needs to go potty. She has a good appetite and is quite food-motivated, which comes in handy for training. Dapples exhibits some insecurity. When you reach to pet her, she cowers and wags her tail really fast. She has never offered to bite, but she was a bit jealous at first of her foster sibling getting the shared attention. They now are snuggle buddies. She just needs a bit of time to get comfortable. We think she'd do best in a home with No small children. Another dog or two is fine, but she'll need help with jealousy from the beginning, and then it will fade. She'd also do well in a home with no dogs. Just her people. She is protective of her people and home, so again, experienced doxie owners are preferred, but at least experienced dog owners. She loves to go for walks. She loves digging in the mulch bed and basking in the backyard sunning herself.
