Story
Jax is a soon-to-be 5-month-old dachshund puppy who is full of energy, love, and personality. He is playful, affectionate, curious, and loves being around people. Like most dachshund puppies, he enjoys exploring, playing, and being involved in whatever is going on around him. He is currently being potty trained and is comfortable using puppy pads. Jax would do best in a home that has the time and patience to continue his training and provide him with the attention, playtime, and consistency that puppies need during this stage of life. He is a sweet, loving boy, and my goal is to find a home that is a great match for his personality and energy level so he can continue to thrive. After careful thought, I've realized that Jax would benefit from a home that can better match his needs during this important stage of development. My priority is finding the right family for him, where he can receive the time, attention, and engagement he deserves.

Story
How precious is this tiny nugget? Zara is such a wonderful little wiener dog with a curious way of seeing the world. Her previous owners loved her but did not have the means to care for her when she suffered an IVDD back injury and was simultaneously discovered to be heartworm positive. Once she came into DREAM, we took Zara in right away to see our specialist, who performed surgery on the ruptured disc. Since then, she's begun her HW treatment and has undergone acupuncture and cold-laser therapy to help wake her central nervous system back up. We definitely see signs of progress, but they are very slow. However this does not impede her quality of life. While the surgery and therapy have helped her greatly, Zara currently does not have the ability to walk but that doesn’t stop her from getting around and playing with the other dogs in the house. To help her get around, Zara can scoot on her own or use her cart. Honestly, she much prefers to scoot. Because of her physical limitations, Zara does need to be expressed to help her go to the bathroom-both #1 and #2. This is very easy to learn, very clean and the great thing is when kept on a schedule of expressing, she’s house-trained and can go most anywhere. She's a friendly little muppet who loves her people and has the gumption to thrive no matter the circumstances. It's impossible to be around her without smiling and wanting to snuggle her. Zara is very much a lap-girl. If you are sitting down, she wants to be right next to you. Her goal in life is to be carried around 24 / 7 / 365. DREAM has helped dogs of all capability levels and we believe this girl is really easy to care for. Resource material is available for you to order as well. One of the original board members wrote this extremely helpful book about day to day life with a "down dog".... Honey Have You Squeezed the Dachshund. If you are interested in adopting Zara, you can fill out an application right on our website! Go to our online adoption application. Zara's adoption fee is $500. All adoption fees go directly to veterinary care for DREAM dachshunds. Zara will go to his / her new home microchipped, altered, heartworm tested, up to date on vaccinations, and with all other medical needs addressed. Almost every dog's veterinary expense is greater than our adoption fees. DREAM is an all-volunteer rescue group. We focus on the metro Atlanta area and can assist throughout the state of Georgia. Since our rescue is entirely run and staffed by volunteers, our ability to travel long distances for adoptions is somewhat limited. We focus on Georgia, but if you are in a neighboring state, we might be able to work something out - we'll expect you to do your part. DREAM does not recommend purebred dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a doxie's back. Follow us on Instagram , Facebook and Twitter

Story
Boscoe has a number of talents and his foster mom calls him a smart Houdini. He quickly figured out how to open pocket doors to get into another room. He will push doors open if they are not latched to stay within sight of his person. He is an all star snuggler and we are sure he will pass the snuggles certification exam with flying colors. 😉 Boscoe had been training & is now about 90% house trained if kept on a schedule and his cues are picked up and he’s let outside for a potty break. He definitely needs a secure fenced yard as he likes to explore and looks for ways to let himself out for a solo adventures. He's not shown any signs of being a digger but he has shown tendencies to be a door darter. Boscoe is very athletic and can jump up quite high. Walking is his jam and he’s a perfect gentleman on a leash. He really loves being around people and can have some separation anxiety but is getting better. He's good with dogs and people but much prefers his people over another dog. Boscoe does NOT like to be crated and will chew the metal on the crate as his anxiety escalates being in there. He usually has something to say and lets his voice be heard if he isn’t feeling secure. His foster mom says he has settled in and she thinks he had a hard time adjusting to a new environment because he wasn’t around many different people and situations before coming to DREAM. He has met lots of new people and is doing well at becoming friends. If you are interested in adopting Boscoe, you can fill out an application right on our website! Go to our online adoption application. Boscoe's adoption fee is $700. All adoption fees go directly to veterinary care for DREAM dachshunds. Boscoe will go to his / her new home microchipped, spayed/neutered, heartworm tested, up to date on vaccinations, and with all other medical needs addressed. Story
Please READ THOROUGHLY. Before we share photos of Avie, we want you to understand she has been through a lot in her short life, and is going to need someone very special to care for her emotional needs. These are the things she MUST have in her forever home: ➡️ Female-only home or a home with a patient male partner who understands she will bond most closely with the woman in the home. ➡️ Another young, playful, confident dog is required. ➡️ A family willing to let Avie settle in at her own pace. She needs weeks or even months to fully trust a new environment. ➡️ Slow introductions to new people are a must. When visitors come over, Avie prefers to observe from her safe space and approach people when she’s ready. She may choose to relax in her crate or bed until she feels comfortable, and her forever family will need to respect that choice. If that sounds like your home, keep reading… Avie spent the beginning of her life with very little stability and didn’t have the chance to learn what being a loved companion dog was all about. Because of this, new people and new situations can feel overwhelming. Avie isn’t aggressive (no growling, nipping, or biting) but when she feels unsure, she chooses to retreat to her safe place until she feels ready. But once Avie decides you are her person? She loves BIG. Avie is wonderful with other dogs and will need another young, playful, confident dog in her forever home. She learns from her canine friends, and they help show her that the world isn’t such a scary place. Things Avie loves: 🐾 Playing with her dog friends 🐾 Walks and trips to the park 🐾 Car rides (she’s a fantastic travel buddy!) 🐾 Her cozy bed and favorite blankie 🐾 Being close to the people she trusts Her foster family continues helping Avie build confidence around new people with patience, positive experiences, and plenty of yummy treats. Avie needs consistency, patience, and a family willing to continue her training to set her up for success in her forever home.
