Rusty Wallace is a 3-year-old dachshund mix. Rusty is house trained, cat and dog friendly, and enjoys human companions of all ages. If in a home with children, they need to be older children that understand Rusty's needs noted below. He loves car rides. He sleeps in bed with his human but will also sleep in a kennel. He loves to burrow so blankets are a must! Rusty came back into rescue severally overweight. You can see that in his before and after photo in his bio. He worked hard and is now back to a healthy weight and just needs to maintain. Rusty requires a home with no steps or minimal steps. He is currently in a home that has mostly single steps and where there are two steps, he has a ramp. He had to have spinal surgery so limited steps are a must. Steps are also needed for him to get on and off the couch and bed. Rusty has seizures. At this time he is not on meds but just being monitored. He just figured out how much fun toys can be and it’s so incredibly cute to watch him play. Friederick loves other dogs so much. He’d really be happy in a home with smaller dogs to play with and cuddle. He is good in his crate and is working on potty training. He’s fantastic with kids and just wants to be loved. Friederick is from a puppy mill and is still learning to live in a house. So far, he’s doing great! He requires a home with dachshund experience where someone is around most of the day. This sweet boy came to us from a rural shelter where he was very shut down and scared. Since arriving in his foster home, Tex has truly blossomed into a much more relaxed and confident pup. Now that he knows he’s safe, Tex enjoys the comforts of home life: lounging around, following his humans, and hanging out with the other dogs in the house. He’s also curious about the cats, though if they dart off too quickly, he might give a bark or two to let them know he noticed. Tex is an excellent little alert dog who takes his job seriously. If something unusual is happening around the property or if a sneaky squirrel dares to raid the bird feeder, Tex will sound the alarm. He’s got a great nose for mischief and will keep your porch squirrel-free. Tex would thrive in a calm, low-activity home where he can build a strong bond with his adopter. Once he knows he’s safe and loved, he’ll likely become your loyal little shadow. Tex is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on all vaccines and preventions.
