Story

This little guy is Bubba! At around 2 years old, he’s the perfect mix of cuddly companion and playful sidekick. Bubba is happy entertaining himself with a favorite toy or bone, but he’s always ready for a game of fetch with his people. When it’s time to get out and explore, he makes a great buddy for walks, hikes, and car rides! Bubba doesn’t need another dog to be happy. He’s perfectly content sharing his home with another canine, but he prefers doing his own thing rather than wrestling or roughhousing with a doggy roommate. Cats, however, are just a little too interesting for him, so Bubba needs a cat-free home. A securely fenced-in yard is a must for this boy! He loves having room to run freely, stretch his legs, and chase a ball. His new family will also need to be patient as he continues working on potty training and help him establish a consistent routine. If you’re looking for a fun-loving companion who enjoys both outdoor adventures and relaxing at home, Bubba could be your perfect match! He’s ready to find a family who appreciates his independent side, enjoys playtime as much as he does, and will give him the love and guidance he deserves. Bubba is neutered, up to date on all vaccines, heart worm negative and on heart worm preventative, and microchipped. Bubba’s adoption fee is $400.00

Story

Meet Oscar 🐾 Oscar is a one-of-a-kind little guy who is part Dachshund, part Chihuahua part Pittie, part mystery, and 100% lovable! With his long body and short little legs, he’s basically a hot dog with a Pittie smile. 😂❤️ Oscar is super affectionate, playful, and cuddly. At just barely a year old he has plenty of energy and loves to play, but when playtime is over, he’s more than happy to curl up with his favorite person. He also does wonderfully with other dogs and sleeps like a champ in his crate. 💤 He’s mostly potty trained and is learning more every day. He’s also apparently pursuing a career in interior design—he loves rearranging the dog beds and toys to create what he believes is the perfect layout. 😂 Oscar does have a mischievous side. He LOVES food and may occasionally jump on tables or go looking for snacks. In fact, this little genius has figured out how to open Tupperware! We believe some of this comes from his history of food insecurity, so he’s still learning that he doesn’t have to worry about where his next meal is coming from. ❤️ Oscar is sweet, silly, energetic, affectionate, and just the right amount of naughty. He’s looking for a family who will give him patience, structure, cuddles, playtime, and most importantly, the chance to finally feel safe and loved. Oscar may rearrange your furniture, steal your heart, and possibly figure out your Tupperware… but we promise he’s worth it. 🐶❤️ Local adoption fee is $350 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $650 (includes transport to your area)

If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to reserve me for an appointment. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. #adoptdontshop ##2876613##

Story

Rusty Wallace is a 4 year old dauchshund mix. Rusty is house trained, cat and dog friendly, and enjoys human companions of all ages. If in a home with children, they need to be older children that understand Rusty's needs noted below. He loves car rides. He sleeps in bed with his human but will also sleep in a kennel. He loves to burrow so blankets are a must! Rusty came back into rescue severally overweight. You can see that in his before and after photo in his bio. He worked hard and is now back to a healthy weight and just needs to maintain. Rusty requires a home with no steps or minimal steps. He is currently in a home that has mostly single steps and where there are two steps, he has a ramp. He had to have spinal surgery so limited steps are a must. Steps are also needed for him to get on and off the couch and bed. Rusty has seizures and was diagnosed with epilepsy. He is taking meds three times a day to prevent them. The meds do cause him to be extremely needy. He is very vocal until his needs are met. Rusty would not be a good fit for an apartment. He is good with dogs his size or smaller. He can't be with a bigger dog that is playful or has a lot of energy. f you are interested, complete the Adoption Application on our website at www.NeedyPaws.org and we will contact you. Adopters must live within an hour’s drive of St. Louis, MO. Rusty Wallace’s adoption fee is $295.00, which includes up-to-date vaccinations, heartworm testing and preventative, spay/neuter and microchip.
