Crate trained and will he will let you know when he wants to go out.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.October 4, 2024, 6:38 pm

Story
Lorena’s a 2yo 9lb Doxie/Rat Terrier mix. She’s dog friendly. She’s pee pad and crate trained. She’s good with a small secure fenced in yard. She’s sassy, funny, energetic, and wants to be treated like the queen that she is. She loves to play with other dogs her size, prefers male dogs and likes car rides. She needs warm up time to new people. Lorena MUST have another young male dog her size to play with along with people who understand her special needs and not try to take her on long walks which she is not supposed to do. If your home DOES NOT fit this please DO NOT put an application in. We will not call anyone not a fit. Also, we will be concentrating on local to foster applications 1st since home checks and meets with all humans and animals in home is needed at meet. Our fosters are all volunteers so aren’t always able to travel too far. Lorena came to us from a rescue in the Dominican Republic. She was unable to use her back legs. With months of water therapy and exercise, she is now walking and running. She’s spayed, vaccinated, HW negative and microchipped. Currently in Cherry Hill, NJ. If your home fits the bio and MUST haves and you’re interested in applying to adopt please do so at www.tprescue.org

Please read the bio in full for answers to your questions. In the event you have a question that is not covered in the bio, please email info@seniordoghaven.org. If interested in adopting, please complete an adoption application which can be found at https://seniordoghaven.org/adoption-process/. Please note that because all our dogs live in foster homes, we are unable to set up meetings with a dog unless we have a completed adoption application on file. Adoptions must be within a reasonable distance from Pike Creek, DE for our volunteers to be able to conduct an in-person home visit. Meet Charlie and Ruby, the dynamic senior Dachshund duo ready to snuggle their way into your hearts! At 13 years old 12 pounds, and 11 years old 10 pounds, Charlie and Ruby came to us after their owner passed and extended family could no longer care for them. This bonded, friendly pair wants nothing more than to snuggle with their humans and enjoy rolls in the grass. They came through initial foster care with flying colors: Ruby had a dental, a large hernia removed, and takes a $5/month arthritis supplement. Charlie had a dental, small mass removed from his chin, and was found to have a heart murmur. A recent echocardiogram showed his condition is happily manageable without medication. These two are in great shape for seniors, with good vision and generally good hearing, though they do have sensitive backs like many aging dachshunds. They have learned to skillfully use a ramp to cuddle on the couch and to get outside, and would like to maintain their independence this way. An adult home or one where older kids understand this need is preferred. Charlie and Ruby did spend part of their lives confined to a small space, so now with a taste of a yard, they would like a home with at least a small fenced grassy area. They want to know their humans are around, so someone who is home more often than not would be great. They do well with other small dogs, but a home without cats would be best since doxies are hunters at heart. They are basically fully potty trained, though they appreciate a wee pad on standby for those just-in-case occasions. Once they understand their new routine with you, they will settle in nicely. In short – just like Charlie and Ruby themselves – this doxie duo is ready for their final chapter with their furever humans, and just want love and snuggles and treats. Apply today to bring home this cute pair for double the snuggles and double the joy!

Story
Little lady Sadie is ready for her forever home after being rescued from a Louisiana hoarder house. We were told she is 2 years but think more like 4-5, 10 pounds.  Sadie is shy at first, needs time to feel comfortable; then a devoted best friend, who loves lap time, being close. She gets along with the other dogs, plays a little, cuddles; can be jealous of lap time with just a tiny growl. She also enjoys yard time. Sadie would love an owner who'd spend lots of time with her. She's a great best friend! Fostered near Philadelphia, PA. Adoption fee $375. www.longdogsrescue.org/application

Story
Youngster ElleMae is looking for her forever home at 1 year, 13 pounds! She's a mostly red piebald beauty like her mama (15 lbs.), who was a breeder release to rescue. Elle is shy with strangers, barks at new dogs. She does warm up quickly.  Elle 'is quite an energetic girl, who plays most of every day. She loves the other dogs in her foster home, must have a small, energetic, playful doggie friend close to her size in her forever home -- perhaps her foster buddy Noah -- and a fenced yard. ElleMae enjoys lap time, cuddling close, being with her people. Fostered near Philadelphia, PA. Adoption fee $650.  www.longdogsrescue.org/application
