Meet Rainier: Your Future Bestie and Snuggle Buddy!
If you’re looking for a snuggle buddy who’s also up for a bit of playful wrestling, Rainier is the dog for you!
Watch Rainier's video here:
This adorable boy has a heart full of love and a tail that wags non-stop. Here’s why you’ll want to make him a part of your family:
A Little About Rainier : Rainier is an adorable 5 year old boy, weighing 10 pounds. We think he is a Dachshund/Chihuahua mix, but we are not sure so we just call him our Texas Special, the very best breed. He is being fostered with 2 other small dogs.
The Cutest Thing About Rainier : Rainier absolutely adores cuddles, snuggles, and love. If you put your hand by him, he will gently nose underneath it, just to remind you that you could spend your time petting him and giving him all the love, lol.
Potty Trained: Yes! Rainier is potty trained and uses a doggie door like a pro.
Crate Trained: Absolutely. He goes right into the crate when told, sleeps soundly all night, and is very comfortable in his space.
Home Behavior: Rainier is an affectionate companion who follows you everywhere. He’s very comfortable around the house and has great manners.
Energy Level: Moderate. He’s active and loves adventures, but he’s also content to chill and cuddle with you.
Social Skills: Rainier is confident on car rides and enjoys the journey. He's friendly with other dogs one-on-one, especially enjoying playful wrestling with Seattle Layla, another small dog in the house. He does get a bit vocal when new people arrive but is quick to settle once he recognizes you.
Play Style: While he enjoys playing with other dogs individually, several other larger dogs at once could be overwhelming.
Affectionate Nature: Rainier shows his love with snuggles and cuddles. He will gently nose your hand to remind you that you could be spending your time petting him and giving him love and attention. He loves to be close to you but will also find his own cozy spot when he's tired.
Car Behavior: He is a great travel buddy and would love to join you for morning coffee runs or late night ice cream treats, as long as there is a pup cup involved for him, lol.
Leash Manners: Rainier walks well on a leash, but he can be a bit barky at first when passing other dogs.
Training and Tricks: Rainier is very food motivated, making him a quick learner. He knows "up" (where he jumps so high!), "down", and "sit", and is eager to learn more!
Living Situation: Rainier can adapt to both houses with yards or apartments with proper exercise. He would prefer to have another dog for company but can also be happy as the only dog with some adjustment.
Adventure Level: Rainier loves going on adventures and is up for any outing. He especially loves pup cups, so if you happen to make a pit stop at any location with pup cups, you know what to do. He is little, so if you want a hiking buddy he will need to ride in a dog purse or backpack.
Kids and Cats: Rainier does not have experience with kids or cats but has been great with other dogs. If you have little ones or cats in your life, we can cat and kid test him. We are sure he will pass!
Confidence: Rainier is a people pleaser, and loves everybody on sight. This dashing 'lil man will give you kisses and ask for gentle pets, then roll over for belly rubs. He's too cute to be denied!
Ready to meet your new best friend? Rainier is waiting to bring joy, cuddles, and a lot of love into your life!

Why adopt from Three Little Pitties?
The stray and animal overpopulation in the Greater Houston area is the highest in the nation. Statistics show that there are over 1 million homeless animals in this region alone. Three Little Pitties Rescue is a nonprofit dog and cat rescue that partners with the community to make a difference. Our mission is to reduce the homeless pet population through community outreach, free spay and neuter services, and saving all breeds of dogs and cats from the streets or animal shelters that oftentimes have no other option but to euthanize animals for space. This dog you’ve found online is lucky to be in our program, and even luckier to have you notice it!
Three Little Pitties wants to set you and your new pet up for success! We know our dogs and we work hard to prepare them socially for adoption. We are a network of dedicated people who are heavily invested in seeing our animals thrive. From the moment they are accepted into our program, our Intake, Behavior & Medical teams prepare them for adoption by properly vetting, behaviorally assessing, and providing customized plans depending on the dog’s needs. We provide weekly socialization programs for our dogs through playgroups and group leash training classes available to all dogs in our adoption program, and Doggy Sleepover, Doggy Day Out, and Ambassador programs for our boarding dogs. There is a professional dog trainer on staff to provide support for our fosters and dogs, and an off-site dog trainer for dogs that need more extensive behavior modification. This helps us learn deeply about every dog, prepare them for adoption, and ultimately match them with loving families. We seek to adopt to families who understand that these are rescue dogs and will require continued training efforts, but will be well on their way to being the best dogs that they can be!
It doesn’t stop there! Our adopters also receive these special perks:
• A free private online dog training session with GoodPup plus low pricing for future sessions (approx $25 weekly for an 8 week course of one session per week)
• One free bonus toy in every BarkBox when signing up for their Super Chewer subscription plan
• 25% off of your first order of Fetch, a PNW based, organic fresh dog food loaf meal subscription plan
• Coupons for a fun visit to Petco
• Access to our exclusive FB Adopters page, where you can network for play dates, resources, and connect with other adopters that share their passion for their adopted pup!
We celebrated our 5 year anniversary this year! Through the combined efforts of all of our hardworking staff and volunteers, we have placed over 14,000 very lucky dogs and cats into amazing homes! By adopting from us, you save TWO lives! The pet you adopt, and you create an opportunity for another animal to be saved in that spot. Together, we can be heroes.
