Misses Buttersworth | The Sweetest Little Granny Misses Buttersworth has officially reached the stage of life where her priorities are simple: good snacks, comfortable beds, plenty of naps, and being near the people she loves. Honestly, she has life figured out. Estimated to be around 10 years old with a birthday of 8/21/2016, Misses Buttersworth is a senior female Dachshund mix weighing approximately 22.6 lbs. She's a petite, low-to-the-ground little lady with a beautiful black-and-white coat and those unmistakable Dachshund features. She may be little, but she has a little extra cushion on her—and once you learn how much this woman loves to eat, it all starts making sense. At this point in her life, she's much more interested in getting comfortable and enjoying a good snooze than keeping up with the hustle and bustle. She sleeps peacefully in a dog bed in her foster home and is perfectly content spending her days relaxing nearby while her people go about theirs. And being near her people is important to Misses. She's wonderfully affectionate with both men and women and happily gives and receives love. She's the kind of senior girl who doesn't need a packed schedule of adventures to be happy. Give her a cozy place to rest, some companionship, and plenty of affection, and you've pretty much nailed her dream day. There is, however, one very effective shortcut to her heart: Food. Misses Buttersworth LOVES to eat. Treats are serious business in her world, and arriving with something tasty is probably the fastest way to become her newest best friend. This little lady didn't get her extra bit of fluff by turning down snacks. Food is absolutely one of her love languages, right alongside affection, comfortable beds, and a quality nap. She's currently fostered in a home with cats. Every once in a while, Buttersworth apparently remembers she's still a dog and may briefly chase one—but the enthusiasm is pretty short-lived. Before long, she's right back to relaxing and minding her own business. Thoughtful introductions and supervision would still be important with any new feline friends, but she's currently sharing her home with cats successfully. Misses Buttersworth is also deaf or extremely hard of hearing, but she doesn't seem particularly bothered by it. Loud noises aren't something that disturb this little lady—mostly because she probably has no idea they're happening. Her hearing does mean communicating with her looks a little different. Visual cues, movement, and vibrations are the best ways to get her attention. A wave can catch her eye, while gently patting or stepping on the floor can create vibrations she can feel. Approaching where she can see you can also help keep her from being startled. And once you've got her attention? She's perfectly happy to see you. Especially if you brought snacks. Misses Buttersworth can also settle in a crate. She showed a little heavy panting initially but remained mostly quiet and settled before long. At home, though, she's perfectly happy snoozing away in her dog bed. She hasn't shown separation anxiety and doesn't need someone constantly entertaining her. That's part of what makes Misses Buttersworth such a lovely senior companion. She isn't asking for a complicated life. She doesn't need someone to wear her out every day. She isn't looking for nonstop excitement. Granny just wants somewhere soft to land. Her ideal home would have a slower, more relaxed pace where she can enjoy her golden years surrounded by comfort and affection. Popcorn is two and a half months old, approximately three inches off the ground and currently having the absolute time of her life. This happy little scruff is possibly a Dachshund Chihuahua mix, with a long little body, tiny legs and just enough scruffy fur to make her ridiculously cute. She bounces through life with the cheerful confidence of a puppy who has already figured out that the world is full of toys, people and very good things. Meet Darrell! This tiny, ridiculously handsome little guy is about a year old and we believe he may be a Dachshund/chihuahua mix. With his short legs, speckled paws, expressive eyebrows, and permanent "I know something you don't know" grin, Darrell looks like he walked straight out of a cartoon. At first glance, Darrell can come across as a tough guy. In reality, he's more like a tiny security guard who takes his job a little too seriously. His job? Making sure his favorite people are safe and properly loved. He absolutely adores his trusted humans and turns into a total cuddle bug. He's perfectly lap-sized, loves curling up next to his family, and thinks car rides are one of the greatest inventions of all time. If you're headed somewhere, Darrell would like to come too. He also loves having a routine. His crate is his cozy little bedroom, and he happily trots right inside when it's time to relax. Predictability helps him feel safe, and he's the kind of dog who thrives when he knows what to expect. Darrell currently lives with dogs and cats and does very well with both. He's generally pretty aloof with other dogs, preferring to mind his own business rather than get involved in puppy politics. He gets along well with dogs who respect personal space and don't constantly pester him. He also lives with cats and has learned that after one firm feline correction, it's best to mind your own business. Smart guy. Now for the important part: Darrell is not a dog who enjoys strangers getting in his face or handling him before trust has been built. He can absolutely be mouthy when he's uncomfortable and may snap or bite if his boundaries are ignored. He's not being mean—he's just very clear about his feelings and expects people to listen. Because of this, Darrell needs an adopter who understands dog body language and respects that relationships take time. Darrell thrives on routine and predictability. He loves his crate, enjoys knowing what's coming next, and settles beautifully into home life. His foster reports that he has experienced occasional seizures throughout his life, but they have been rare and have never stopped him from being a happy, adventurous little dog. Car rides, lap time, snacks, and spending time with his favorite people are still at the top of his priority list. Because of his medical history and his preference for limited stranger handling, Darrell will be adopted as-is. Future adopters should be comfortable monitoring his health alongside their veterinarian, but overall he continues to enjoy a fantastic quality of life and spends his days doing what he does best: being an adorable little sidekick. Meet Oscar 🐾 Oscar is a one-of-a-kind little guy who is part Dachshund, part Chihuahua part Pittie, part mystery, and 100% lovable! With his long body and short little legs, he’s basically a hot dog with a Pittie smile. 😂❤️ Oscar is super affectionate, playful, and cuddly. At just barely a year old he has plenty of energy and loves to play, but when playtime is over, he’s more than happy to curl up with his favorite person. He also does wonderfully with other dogs and sleeps like a champ in his crate. 💤 He’s mostly potty trained and is learning more every day. He’s also apparently pursuing a career in interior design—he loves rearranging the dog beds and toys to create what he believes is the perfect layout. 😂 Oscar does have a mischievous side. He LOVES food and may occasionally jump on tables or go looking for snacks. In fact, this little genius has figured out how to open Tupperware! We believe some of this comes from his history of food insecurity, so he’s still learning that he doesn’t have to worry about where his next meal is coming from. ❤️ Oscar is sweet, silly, energetic, affectionate, and just the right amount of naughty. He’s looking for a family who will give him patience, structure, cuddles, playtime, and most importantly, the chance to finally feel safe and loved.
