Story
**Now fostered in Seattle, WA** Meet Tuck – Your New Best Friend! Tuck is a sweet and gentle dachshund with a heart full of love and a true talent for cuddling. This little guy is the definition of a lap dog and thrives in calm, quiet environments where he can enjoy the simple pleasures of life—like sunny naps, leisurely strolls, and cozy evenings on the couch. Tuck has experience living with other dogs, but he’d be perfectly content as the only dog in a home, especially with a singleton or older adult looking for a loyal companion. He’s wonderful on leash and will happily accompany you on walks, or enjoy the freedom of a secure yard where he can sniff and explore. If you're looking for a devoted, low-key companion who will adore you endlessly, Tuck might just be your perfect match. You can join along on our private Facebook event page to follow their adventure, connecting you with other adopters and providing updates throughout their transport journey!   You will get to meet your new pup over a video call before signing paperwork, creating a fun and personalized adoption experience!    The adoption fee is $1,200 and includes all vetting (DAPP with booster, Bordetella, Rabies vaccine, multiple broad spectrum deworming treatments, spay/neuter, flea prevention, a 12 month heartworm preventative injectable, heartworm test and treatment if needed, a microchip with free lifetime registration, a high quality nylon Martingale collar, a health certificate deeming the pup healthy for travel, cost of transport*, and priceless years of love and loyal companionship!    We have over 15,000 successful adoptions so far and have excellent Google Reviews: https://g.co/kgs/UQ5Pyai We care deeply about making the perfect match between dog and family for long term success.    Our rescue has a 2 acre property in Texas where we assess every animal with trainers on staff, we modify behavior as needed, and create individualized behavior plans to help prepare dogs for their future families including crate training, potty training, leash walking, etc. Our fosters are able to attend group trainings and socialization play groups to keep dogs adoption-ready. Our on-site trainers support the positive growth of our dogs and we enjoy seeing their progress!    Our commitment to comprehensive medical care sets us apart. We've received glowing feedback from veterinarians who commend our dedication to ensuring the health and well-being of every animal in our care with treatments that often go above and beyond.   Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet.    The rescue’s hard costs alone (excluding transport) for a healthy dog to go through our program typically range between $412 to $859, which includes boarding, food, medications, vaccines, and spay/neuter. For heartworm-positive dogs, hard costs are upwards of $1,368. Additionally, dogs requiring extended boarding, extra training, or extra medical care—such as dental work, vision care, or orthopedic care—can lead to expenses running into the thousands. Also, included in the adoption fee are costs to cover transport up to the Pacific Northwest or East Coast. Transport is a significant additional expense to the rescue.  While adoption fees help cover part of these expenses, we want to emphasize that the rescue does not receive government funding and must fundraise to offset the remaining expense balance which ranges $100-1,000++ per animal on these direct costs.   It doesn’t stop there! Story
Meet Toby Toblerone Weinerwobble! This gorgeous boy is about 2 years old, only 12 pounds, and we think he may be a Dachshund/Chihuahua mix, but with rescue, it's always a guess! Watch Toby's video here: Yes, it's a silly name, but this Toby is one distinguished gentleman. He may be low to the ground, but this sweet boy rates sky high on the lovability scale! We adore his expressive eyes - we think it's the eyebrows that he uses to full effect - and this boy can get extra treats from us by tilting his head just so. (Who can resist an inquisitive head tilt? Not us!) And we simply cannot get over his lowrider status - his short legs are adorable. Sweet Toby can be shy at first in new places with new people, but don't let that fool you. He is quite the social butterfly and likes to meet new people, ever curious about what is going on....just...over...there. Toby will investigate his surroundings and choose the best place to sit (your lap), or if he must, a soft and fluffy dog bed. Toby loves to be outdoors and does well on a leash, but we can tell he would just love a nice backyard to run free. (Bonus: his legs are short, so the yard doesn't have to be that big, lol.) We love Toby’s happy and joyful attitude and know you will too! Application link: https://adopt.animalsfirst.com/animal/62cc8e128b02916730334440/67b6064903f12854b607826d Questions? Story
Hi! My name is Lil Guy. I am a mixed breed with dachshund, and not sure what else. I've been told I am 1-2 years old. I was wandering in a neighborhood when my foster dad saw me, whistled me to his truck, and I jumped in. I was so excited that someone had noticed me. My foster mom loves me dearly. I get walked at least twice a day and boy do I love that. I get exercise, terrific smells, and I'm able to water and fertilize the grass and trees along the way. I weigh approximately 25 pounds. My foster parents have been told by a trainer that I am very adoptable and do not need professional training for any bad habits. I would love to stay with my foster parents, but my foster dad has horrific allergies, and they already have two other dogs. When I was found I had injuries from being attacked by a dog(s). My foster mom took me to the vet to get antibiotics and a wellness check. She later made an appointment for me to undergo being chipped, vaccinated, put on heartworm medication, dewormed, and oh boy, my natural urges were taken care of - I was fixed! I am sweet, loving, playful, love attention, and walk on a leash. I'm looking for a warm loving family who will love me unconditionally and take care of me. Please let me be your pet of a lifetime. You won't be disappointed. Lil Guy is a people dog through and through! If you're looking for a loyal companion to greet you at the door, be your shadow, he's the one. He sits when you feed him! He the most amazing boy. Application: https://adopt.animalsfirst.com/animal/62cc8e128b02916730334440/6824bf848d61e97bcd014e53 Questions? Story
Frito lives for love, a true companion that has an endless supply of cuddles and affection for you. Frito is an adventurer at heart, but his favorite pastime is lying next to you or on your lap if you’ll allow it. Bonus, his love is not exclusive to his owner; he shows the same affection to all humans. Frito is always ready for play, a run, a walk around the neighborhood otlr through the woods, or a hike, and he will fearlessly follow you on any adventure. He has big energy compressed into a pocket sized body. He’s just a silly little meatball. He is great on a leash when you’ve got his attention, and behaves himself when passing other dogs and people. Frito has great recall in the house and outside. He is crate trained and potty trained. Frito has been left behind in his past and as a result he has quite a bit of separation anxiety. He displays this anxiety by whining and crying. As he learns to trust he does quiet down, but he would not be best suited for apartment living as neighbor noises will surely m lake him think he's being ignored and they'll be able to hear him. When you get home Frito is the happiest boy, jumping and running around, he explodes with excitement. Frito will need time and dedication to completely correct his overly excited behavior. Frito would do best in a home that is committed to his training him to be the best boy he can be. Frito LOVES kids - like extra loves kids. He is good with cats but does like to try to play so an understanding cat would be ideal, or the cat having a place to have some peace. Frito is good with dogs of all sizes, though his energy could be a lot for some, so a tolerant friend, and slow introductions would be best. Are you ready for endless cuddles and entertainment? Are you a strong leader looking for a lovable, active, pocked-sized sidekick? Then Frito is just the pup for you!
