Story
Meet Joyful Johnny!  He is a wonderful little chiweenie boy who is 3 years old and about 15 lbs.  Johnny is a fun loving little guy who is good with dogs of all sizes and ages.  He also loves people and just wants to be with you.  Johnny loves to play and has a big time running and playing with his foster brothers and sisters.  They have a nice fenced in area where they can safely play.  When not playing Johnny is always up for a movie or a ballgame.  He came from a bad situation where he was not taken care of at all.  He and his sister June (a boxer) were surrendered to a rural Tennessee shelter,  Johnny showed no signs of being neglected but June was in rough shape.  She is now in a great foster home too and well on her way to recovery.  Johnny would make a great addition to an active home with another similar size and age dog to play with.  He is trained to a doggie door so might need some help with his house manners if you don't have one.  He eats in his crate and is not picky about his food.  Johnny is a happy go lucky guy who just makes you smile.  He is schedule to be neutered and microchipped on 2/13.  He is already current on all his shots.  He will then be ready to travel to his forever home.  To be considered for Johnny's forever family and to request an application please contact Vivienne at viviennejames@comcast.net.  ARRPOVED APPLICATION AND ADOPTION FEE REQUIRED.  (Johnny is currently in Tennessee but can be transported north upon adoption.)June 5, 2023, 10:13 pm

Story
Meet Mr. Oakley!!  This sweet gentleman is 10 years old and he weighs 24 lbs.  He has begun his weight watchers program and will soon be loosing some weight.  We suspect that table food has been part of Oakley's regular diet.  Well no more!  If he could loose at least 5 lbs he would be much better off.  An overweight dachshund is prone to back issues and we definitely want to prevent that.  He needs a family that will take him for walks and continue his diet plan.  Oakley gets along well with other dogs and loves his foster brothers and sisters.  He likes to hang out with them in his foster mom's fenced in yard.  He is great with people and will go up to you immediately to be petted.  Oakley is content to lay beside you but does like to go wherever you go.  He is not needy.  Just wants to see where you are.  This super sweet boy is also good with cats!!  He would be better in a home with older children, 7-8 years old.  No toddlers.  Since we suspect people food contributed to his weight we don't want to tempt him with someone walking around with food.  Plus this older gentleman deserves a quiet home.  A experienced dachshund family would be best for this great guy.  Oakley is neutered, current on all his shots and microchipped.  To be considered for his forever family and to request an application please contact Vivienne at viviennejames@comcast,net.  APPROVED APPLICATION AND ADOPTION FEE REQUIRED.  (Oakley is currently in Tennessee but can be transported north upon adoption.)June 5, 2023, 10:13 pm

Story
Have you ever seen such a happy face on a Dachshund before?  Well Skye is ready to share her happiness with the world and especially with a family or person who will appreciate her special personality and sweetness.   This Dachshund/Terrier mix is just 3 years old and weighs 14 pounds.   A trim little thing with a heart of gold and love to bath you in.  She will sit in your lap for hours and just be your little lover girl.  Skye  is a little shy at first but warms up quickly if you approach her softly.  She is learning leash walking and seems to be house trained when she is taken out a lot.  She is great with other dogs and cats in the home and we are looking for a calm household for her.  Probably no children under 10 years of age.  If you are interested please write to us at ccrnewengland@gmail.com   PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comJune 5, 2023, 10:13 pm

Story
We were asked to take on Beatrice aka BB from a shelter that was full. She came in as a stray and no one came to claim her. We have no idea why as this tiny girl is the sweetest little thing. She is doing great in her foster home. Loves to sleep on the couch and on the bed at night. She does not like to be in a crate to much and will let you know she does not like it. She is loose in the foster home when the foster family go out. For the most part she is house trained, she has had a few accidents here and there. She would be better suited in a home as she will bark and we don't want anyone in trouble at their apartment complex. She also will head to the door so you have to watch her and tell her no, she does listen very well. She is fixed, current on all shots, micro chipped, on monthly prevention and had a dental. She is a pure bred Dachshund, about 8lbs and 5 years old. We are doing a transport this weekend, as we are based in Nashville, TN and have all the info below. All of us in the rescue have full time jobs as well as running the rescue so if you are interested in Beatrice please go to our website www.doginghampalacerescue.org for our application. Then email the application back to doginghamrescue@aol.com. The fees on our website are very out dated, we are waiting on the lady to update everything. Since covid hit, it is hard to get into vets offices and prices have gone way up. The adoption fee and transport fee is explained below. We are based in the Nashville, TN area and have most of our dogs transported up north. The $400 adoption fee does not include the transport fee (will have a health certificate too). The transport fee is $200, so a total of $600. The transport fee is not refundable if things do not work out.

Story
Hello my name is Toby. I am an 11 year old male Daschund. I am microchipped. I was found running the road and almost got hit by numerous cars. My owners did not want me back. I am very sweet and timid. I do not understand play so I do get a little snippy from time to time if you were to playfully grab at me as I do not understand what this means. I do not care for walking on leashes but will occasionally. I prefer to be a lap dog. I prefer my special family so we can sit together or I in your lap and gets lots of attention all day every day. I am long haired. I am brown and white. I get scared easy. I am fully vaccinated. I am heartworm negative and on heartworm prevention. I am not neutered and due to my age the vet doesn't think it's a good idea. I will need to be worked with on potty training and I can also wear a belly band that helps with not urinating in your house. I get along great with all other dogs and cats. I am laid back and the sweetest little boy in the world. I'm fine with riding in car if I'm held and not put in a pet carrier. Pet carriers terrify me. I look forward to hearing from you and meeting you my special forever human soon. If you are interested in adopting me please contact bakerbridgerescue@aol.com. We transport to a location near you every other week. We use Rescue Riders Transport , the most animal friendly transport ever.

Story
Please meet Rinka, she came to us heartworm positive from a shelter partner in Alabama. Rinka to our best guess is about 6 years old and possibly a chihuahua/dachshund mix around 20lbs. Rinka has not had the best life prior to arriving here, her front teeth are completely worn away and she has scars on her face. Rinka is fine with with the current dogs in her foster home ranging from 5-85 lbs. ****UPDATED***** we recently introduced another foster of similar size as Rinka to our pack and Rinka has taken a dominant role over the new comer, so placement with dogs larger then her would be prefered**** Rinka is crate trained and house broken. She is friendly with every person she meets. Rinka was spayed in Alabama, and recently received her heart worm treatment. Rinka will be ready for her foever home in about two weeks after she has time to recover. It is imperative that she is kept on heartworm prevention for the rest of her life! Rinka is microchipped and up to date on vaccines, and on flea/tick and heartworm preventions.  Rinka's adoption fee is $150.  If you are interested in adopting Rinka please fill out the dog adoption application on our website www.lharinc.org/adopt. ##1656850##
