Story
This unique 7 year old 25-pound Dachshund/Pit Bull mix has a white coat and a heart full of love for his favorite people. He is an exceptionally smart boy who is already house-trained and good at following some commands. He is leash trained and enjoys going on walks. While he is a champion snuggler, he can be selective about his friends. He has preferences for certain people and requires slow, proper introductions to other dogs. Because he values his personal space and predictable environments, he is looking for a calm, loving home without small children. He is being rehomed because our family has grown by two children. He recently bit our toddler when she got in his space. He has previously nipped at new people (when they were not using good dog etiquette). His defensive behavior seems to have increased since having children.

**GUNNER`S & CHESTER`S ADOPTION FEES HAVE BEEN FULLY SPONSORED THANKS TO AN ANONYMOUS DONOR**Hello, my name is: GunnerApprox. DOB: 07/30/2016Sex/Breed: Neutered male Long-Haired DachshundWeight: 13.2 lbs Hello, my name is: ChesterApprox. DOB: 05/04/2011Sex/Breed: Neutered male Long-Haired DachshundWeight: 18.3 lbs No, you`re not seeing double! Welcome Chester and Gunner, two adorable senior dachshunds who recently came to All 4 Paws. They were surrendered with medical needs and facing a looming deadline as their family prepared to move. We knew we had to keep them out of the shelter system and offer them a safe place to land. These boys are now ready to find a family that will love them through their golden years! Chester, the more reserved of the two, is a true napper, content to snooze most of the day. He likes to keep an eye on you from a comfortable distance, occasionally coming over for a gentle pet. Walks are enjoyed at his own charming waddle! Gunner, a bit more energetic, loves to play with toys and run for a bit before settling down for his own naps. He’s a snuggler, enjoying couch time, and moves at a faster pace on walks than Chester. Both boys are treat-motivated and are doing well with a consistent bathroom schedule. Taking in owner-surrendered pets like Chester and Gunner – especially seniors and those with medical needs – is part of our mission. In many cases, these pets would end up in overwhelmed shelters. By bringing them directly into our foster homes, we offer immense benefits: immediate comfort, a quiet environment away from the stress of a shelter, personalized attention for their medical needs, and a chance to decompress and show their true personalities. It`s a win-win for everyone, especially for these deserving dogs who get to bypass the noise and fear, heading straight to loving care. These boys are just two of many who benefit from your support, allowing us to be a safety net for pets facing an uncertain future.Who will open their home and hearts to Chester and Gunner? All our pets are microchipped, spayed/neutered, and up to date on vaccinations and preventatives.Interested in adopting? Story
Meet Pearl: Pearl is about an 8 year old (as of December 2025) dachshund / small dog mix (best guess) that weighs about 20 pounds. Pearl was in a small shelter in rural Tennessee when we heard about her and were able to get her into our rescue. Pearl is currently being fostered in the south and would love to take the freedom ride north to Pennsylvania to meet more prospective families. Pearl is the quintessential lap dog. Although estimated to be 8 years old, that hasn’t slowed her down. Pearl is not playful like a puppy, but she's not sedentary like a senior dog. Pearl was extremely shy when we first pulled her from the shelter, but has blossomed into one of the most sticky velcro dogs you could ever meet. Once you sit down --and sometimes before you sit down-- Pearl is in the chair with you. Pearl always prefers to be on your lap and if she's pushed out, she jumps right back in. Pearl can be a little yappy like some small dogs are and she can fuss at other dogs that compete for lap space, but her fussing is not threatening and can be amusing at times. We think Pearl would do best as an only dog.  We think Pearl would probably be relatively quiet if she wasn’t competing for lap space. Pearl has been fine with cats that she has been around. Pearl is currently house trained to a doggie door and may need some patience while she transitions to another method. We would love for Pearl to have a home with a fenced in yard so she can run and play freely, but it is not a requirement. Pearl is up to date on her shots and spayed. If your lap is feeling chilly and would like to have a cuddle buddy to add warmth, please go to Charlie’s Crusaders website (www.charliescrusaders.org) to fill out an application.
