Story
Current Location: Strasburg, VA Estimated date of birth: 12/16/26 Luca Male • Burnt Sienna Beauty • Tiny Low Rider Luca is a burnt sienna sweetheart with the tiniest little legs and the most perfect dachshund shaped body. His doxie face and soft eyes make it impossible not to scoop him up. He is very friendly, affectionate, and social. When you walk into the room, he comes running. If you dare give attention to another pup first, he will squeak in protest because he wants his share of love too. He adores stuffed toys and is doing well using pee pads. Luca is funny, cuddly, and full of personality. When he runs, his ears fly back like a tiny superhero on a mission. He will make an adorable, devoted companion in any loving home.

Story
Current Location: Spring Grove, PA Meet Ippy: A Well-Adjusted Snuggle Bug Looking for a Second Chance Ippy is a 3 year old, 22 pound Dachshund mix with lovely brown and tan coloring and the classic low rider build that makes this breed so utterly charming. This handsome boy found himself at the shelter through heartbreaking circumstances. Sadly, his owner passed away and there was no one left to care for him. This sweet boy lost the person he loved most and is now searching for someone to love him again. Exceptionally Well Adjusted If his foster is being honest, she doesn't get many dogs this well adjusted. Ippy is 100% house trained, does well in a crate, and is submissive to the other dogs in his foster home. He is a well mannered snuggle bug who knows how to be a perfect houseguest from day one. The Complete Package Ippy has excellent manners, a charming low rider build, and a heart ready to bond deeply with his next person. He's clearly been loved and well cared for, and it shows in every aspect of his behavior. He just needs someone to give him the second chance he so deeply deserves. Best Home Fit Ippy would thrive in any home that will appreciate his wonderful temperament and give him the love and stability he's lost. He's ready to snuggle, be your loyal low riding companion, and bring his well adjusted, loving nature into your life. If you're looking for a well mannered, affectionate companion who is ready to give you all the love he has, Ippy is waiting to meet you. Give this deserving boy the second chance he needs. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs.  Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families.  We have many sponsorship dogs.  Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :) When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :)  So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue.  Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding.  Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :) Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us! Babe is gentle and affectionate. She enjoys curling up on her dog bed for a nap but is equally happy spending time playing and running with other dogs. Babe stays close to her people and enjoys being part of their daily routine. She does not seem to mind cats and has shown good manners around them. A home with a securely fenced yard and another dog would be ideal for Babe, giving her space to safely play, explore, and relax. REQUIREMENTS:  MUST have a fenced yard,  MUST have another small dog Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please fill out an adoption application: Adoption application (Dog) Adoption Application (Cat)   Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not. A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop! We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet.2/22/26 Meet Sarah! If you are looking for a good, medium size dog, she might the one for you!&#226&#158&#161&#239&#184&#143Dachshund mix (mom was dachshund. Dad unknown.) She is not built like a dachshund. &#226&#158&#161&#239&#184&#143housetrained&#226&#158&#161&#239&#184&#143good with dogs, cats, kids&#226&#158&#161&#239&#184&#14330 lbs, 2 years oldFor most people and hopefully their pets, Christmas is a time of fun, family togetherness, and joy. For Sarah, this past Christmas was filled with fear, cold, hunger, and loneliness. You see, right before the holidays, Sarah's family moved. Sarah did everything right. She was a good girl. She watched excitedly as they loaded all of their most treasured possessions on the truck, and drove away. They didn't even tell her goodbye. She thought they would be back to get her, so she waited. And waited. And waited. Days turned into weeks and they never returned. What should have been their most valued possession, was simply discarded like garbage. They didn't even care enough about her to give her a name, only calling her 'Little Dog.' Thankfully, a kind hearted neighbor scooped her up before she could freeze. The neighbor has been workiing with her, teaching her how to be a dog. Most importantly, they are teaching her that she is valued and safe. This is what her foster (the neighbor) said about her:'She’s house broken and has good manners, very people and food oriented, and I had no issues bringing her in despite the signs of abuse I could see. There was a short adjustment period with my other two dogs, but after maybe a day she loved them. She plays and cuddles with both my big and small dogs. She loves cats and is actually very good with them. She also LOVES to snuggle with people. Her previous owner had a child and she seemed to be good with them as well. She is shy with new people at first, but is easily won over with treats and kindness. She has not shown any aggression at all, she would just try to hide at first, until she realized she was safe. Once comfortable, she will be your shadow if you let her.' She is spayed, UTD on vaccines, and on flea/tick and heartworm prevention.  Sarah is located in Arkansas. She can be adopted locally, but transport is available to the New England area as well. Adopter must be able to pick up or arrange for someone to pick up for them in PA, NY, or CT on Saturdays. To apply, please fill out the adoption app: https://form.jotform.com/212690945239059 email apps.aasr@gmail.com with any questions.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Our typical adoption fee for puppies younger than 6 months old is $400, and for older puppies and adults, the usual fee is $350. This includes microchip, spay/neuter,  up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, dewormings, flea/tick treatment, and heartworm test (if over 6 months old) as well as heartworm treatment if they test positive. He is fostered in Tennessee And will travel once his vetting is complete in a couple of weeks.
