Current Location: Strasburg, VA Hello! My name is Lucy! I'm thought to be a Dachshund mix about 2 years old and I currently weigh about 31 pounds - though I am still working on getting my post baby shape back! I'm a sweet gal who enjoys the people I've met so far and I get along very well with the other dogs in the house. I especially enjoy snuggling and will jump up on the couch or recliner to lay next to people. I'm house trained, walk well on a leash and do fine in a crate though my foster family doesn't crate me anymore since I've proven to be trustworthy when left alone at night. I'm microchipped and current on my vaccines and monthly preventatives. I do still need to be spayed, which should happen the first week in January. I am heartworm positive so I need to receive that treatment before I can be adopted and should be able to go to my new home by the end of January. I’m looking for my forever family! Is that with you? She’s potty trained! Story: Monkey was rescued from a shelter in North Carolina. We are so happy to have her safe and sound in a foster home in the DC area now. Monkey is a happy sweetie who loves people and gets along great with other dogs and puppies. She knows just how to get comfortable up on the couch with her humans, and will love to join you on walks and trots around the neighborhood. Monkey is just looking for someone to be her new best furend and we know that she will repay them with endless amounts of love and tail wags. Like all dogs, Monkey will need an adopter who is committed to setting her up for success by enrolling in obedience training and exercising her both mentally and physically. She will also need love, patience, and socialization in order to thrive! What my foster says: Monkey is just the sweetest. She’s potty trained and hasn't had any accidents in the apartment. She's done great with other dogs as well as cats at her temporary foster (!!). Monkey's favorite thing is belly rubs and meal times! Monkey doesn't need any fancy outdoor area (she’d be a great apartment dog), just your love, attention, and the occasional stroll around the neighborhood. Don't let her gray face fool you, though! Monkey has her bouts of energy where she still gets those zoomies and wants to play catch with her favorite mouse toy. She's also content with just sleeping and watching over what you're doing, and she's done fantastic alone as well at home whenever I run errands or am out with friends. My favorite thing about her is that she'll get under the covers and snuggle there the whole night, so if you ever wanted your own personal, soft heater, you'll find it in her. Meet Zo! This sweet dachshund girl is the most breathtaking little queen you've ever seen. Zo arrived at the shelter in the arms of an elderly man who adored her for all 16 of her years. Her family cared for her with devotion, but age caught them faster than it caught Zo. Her dad had recently suffered a stroke and could no longer meet her needs. Zo is settling in beautifully. She eats like a champ, toddles around happily, and is busy sampling every dog bed in the house like a petite, elderly Goldilocks. Deaf from birth, Zo is understandably a bit head shy when surprised. He is a professional snuggler & loves most humans, just no small ones please! Oskar's hobbies include sleeping under covers, sunning himself on the deck, watching TV & batting his BBE's (big brown eyes) at you for any snacks you may want to share? Canine minions are cool and chilln' with his foster fur-brother is fun. However, very large dogs or hyper-happy alpha types who want to be all up in his face are not Oskar's cup of tea. Oskar did have some injuries from his prior life when he came to rescue, but has fully recovered & ready to go home. His canine dentist (ok, vet) also says his teeth are in great shape.
