Story
Meet Cookie. Cookie is a 7 yo female blue dachshund/pitbull mix weighing in at 34 lbs. Cookie came back to us from being adopted many years ago because her adopter had severe health issues and moved into a nursing home. Cookie is overweight and we are working hard to help her lose weight. Cookie is a very sweet, very playful and a well behaved dog with a tail that is always wagging. She walks well on a leash and gets along with other dogs and cats.  Currently she is in a home with other active dogs and a cat. She is not a barker. She is good with everyone except one man who was a relative of her former adopter. Cookie was very afraid of him and if cornered, she might react and bite. We don't know why she was afraid of this particular person. For this reason we recommend no little kids in the home. Cookie is now up to date with vaccines and just had a dental cleaning recently. She has been spayed and tested negative for heartworm and is back on monthly heartworm prevention. Her adoption fee is $100.00.If you are interested in adopting Cookie, please visit our website www.lharinc.org go to Adopt and complete the dog adoption application. Story
Hello, my name is: JerryDOB: 03/12/2023Sex/Breed: Neutered male Chihuahua/Dachshund mix Weight: 12 lbsRescued From: Hoarding caseJerry had a rough start to life. He was rescued from an overcrowded shelter after being seized through a hoarding case. The home he lived in was filled with dogs and trash piled up to the ceiling. He was understandably shut down at the scary shelter, but once he had a little time to decompress in foster, he started slowly letting his guard down. Jerry is still building confidence, keeping to himself most of the time. He has always lived with other dogs and will need to have a little dog companion in his forever home. He feels safest with his little buddies. Jerry is still learning to trust and would benefit from a quiet environment. Despite being so nervous, Jerry has been nothing but sweet. We have no doubt he’ll continue to learn and grow with the right family in his corner. All our pets are microchipped, spayed/neutered, and up to date on vaccinations and preventatives.Interested in adopting? Story
As a Rescue do not euthanize dogs but dogs that are listed as URGENT are still waiting to be saved from animal control and they do euthanise. We can only save them when space is available or have an adopter. Feta is a sweet baby girl who was found in one of our notorious dumping areas. She's around 8/10 weeks old and weighs 7#s. She is on the shorter side and a little, long!

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs.  Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families.  We have many sponsorship dogs.  Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :)When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :)  So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue.  Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding.  Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :)Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us!Hello My new name is Babe and I LOVE it!!!  I come from the 'hoarding' situation.  I'm not sure what that means I just know I come from a REALLY stinky house with a lot of other pups in fact there were 148 of us!!  I like the ranch it is fun and they give us spa days and we eat really good!!!  I'm learning to trust the humans!  They aren't like the ones I lived with before. My foster mom says I will never have to worry again and she will make sure my next home is AMAZING!!!  I am most comfortable when I have another pooch to cuddle with so she said she won't send me to a home without another pup my size and a fenced yard.  That makes me feel really safe!!!REQUIREMENTSMUST have a fenced yardMUST have another small dogVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please fill out an adoption application: Adoption application (Dog) Adoption Application (Cat)   Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not.   A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop!January 27, 2025, 1:40 am
