Story
✨Meet Lilly Girl!✨ Lilly Girl is a 7-year-old Dachshund mix who came into us as a surrender from a commercial breeding facility (aka Puppy Mill) in Lancaster County. Lilly Girl had a very difficult life before coming to us, being used as a mill mama her entire life. She is shut down at this time but is slowly starting to give us her trust. We are confident she will make a wonderful family member for a very lucky family, who understands her past and gives her the time she needs to trust them and her new surroundings. Lilly Girl loves other animals, and will thrive in a home with at least one other dog. Adopting a puppy mill survivor is life-changing—for you and them. For these dogs, everything is new and often overwhelming: people, houses, stairs, leashes, food bowls, collars, toys, TVs, ovens, doorways, pavement…the list goes on. They need adopters who can move slowly, be patient, keep expectations reasonable, and provide the understanding and tools they need to grow into happy, confident companions. Patience, positive reinforcement, and understanding are key! We promise there is nothing that compares to gaining the love and trust of a mill mama, but it requires intentional effort and commitment from their new family. With the right guidance, puppy mill survivors can blossom into well-socialized, joyful dog- so our goal is always to ensure every adopter is fully prepared to give them the life and environment they need to truly thrive! If you are interested in being considered for them please apply on our website at www.angelsretreat.org 💕🐾 Angel’s Retreat West Chester, PA PA Kennel License 17335

Story
Meet Eleanor & Emma — the sweetest odd couple who must stay togetherEleanor is a 4-year-old dachshund with warm, soulful eyes and a heart full of love who weighs 13 pounds. Emma is her best friend, a 4-year-old English bulldog with a gentle, goofy charm with the cutest wiggle butt who weighs 49 pounds. Together, they’re a bonded pair who bring double the cuddles, double the smiles, and a lifetime of loyalty. These two are inseparable—Eleanor follows Emma like a shadow, and Emma looks out for Eleanor. They thrive as a team and must be adopted together. They adore people and are quick to greet anyone with wagging tails, soft eyes, and cheerful energy. They have tested well with other dogs, but are laid back, so would not appreciate a puppy in the home. At 4 years old, they’re young adults—past the puppy chaos but still playful, curious, and full of life. Expect lots of snuggles on the couch, casual strolls around the neighborhood, and happy, goofy antics when toys or treats appear. Eleanor loves to curl up close, while Emma often brings a calm, steady presence—like the perfect yin and yang. Together, they’re the kind of pair that turns a house into a home with their quiet companionship and sweet, affectionate ways. Do you have room in your home for this sweet pair? Story
This unique 7 year old 25-pound Dachshund/Pit Bull mix has a white coat and a heart full of love for his favorite people. He is an exceptionally smart boy who is already house-trained and good at following some commands. He is leash trained and enjoys going on walks. While he is a champion snuggler, he can be selective about his friends. He has preferences for certain people and requires slow, proper introductions to other dogs. Because he values his personal space and predictable environments, he is looking for a calm, loving home without small children. He is being rehomed because our family has grown by two children. He recently bit our toddler when she got in his space. He has previously nipped at new people (when they were not using good dog etiquette). His defensive behavior seems to have increased since having children.

Story
Meet Pearl: Pearl is about an 8 year old (as of December 2025) dachshund / small dog mix (best guess) that weighs about 20 pounds. Pearl was in a small shelter in rural Tennessee when we heard about her and were able to get her into our rescue. Pearl is currently being fostered in the south and would love to take the freedom ride north to Pennsylvania to meet more prospective families. Pearl is the quintessential lap dog. Although estimated to be 8 years old, that hasn’t slowed her down. Pearl is not playful like a puppy, but she's not sedentary like a senior dog. Pearl was extremely shy when we first pulled her from the shelter, but has blossomed into one of the most sticky velcro dogs you could ever meet. Once you sit down --and sometimes before you sit down-- Pearl is in the chair with you. Pearl always prefers to be on your lap and if she's pushed out, she jumps right back in. Pearl can be a little yappy like some small dogs are and she can fuss at other dogs that compete for lap space, but her fussing is not threatening and can be amusing at times. We think Pearl would do best as an only dog.  We think Pearl would probably be relatively quiet if she wasn’t competing for lap space. Pearl has been fine with cats that she has been around. Pearl is currently house trained to a doggie door and may need some patience while she transitions to another method. We would love for Pearl to have a home with a fenced in yard so she can run and play freely, but it is not a requirement. Pearl is up to date on her shots and spayed. If your lap is feeling chilly and would like to have a cuddle buddy to add warmth, please go to Charlie’s Crusaders website (www.charliescrusaders.org) to fill out an application. Story
Otis is a loving, playful, and incredibly loyal pup who's been my companion for the past several years. I adopted him from a shelter in Philadelphia when he was about 1.5 years old, after he was found as a stray on the streets of Atlanta. Since then, Otis has grown into a loyal, curious, and deeply affectionate dog. Indoors, he can be both relaxed and playful; tossing toys around or nudging you for a game of tug or fetch; while still being content to curl up nearby for a nap. Outside, he lights up even more; whether he's chasing squirrels, lying in the sun, or exploring the world around him. He's happiest when he has space to roam, a soft spot to rest, and someone nearby he trusts. My job now requires me to travel frequently, and it’s become increasingly difficult to provide Otis with the stable, active lifestyle he deserves. Otis is currently living near me with a co-owner/friend but needs a forever home with plenty of outdoor space. It could be you!
