He is a normal nice pup who gets along well with dogs, kids and cats. Brody’s ideal home would be one where his people are around most of the time. He is not a fan of crates and prefers his freedom, he is a social butterly! He can’t wait to keep you company on your daily walk and he is a total sucker for treats and those all important belly rubs! Brody is an all around great dog looking for a family to love – could it be yours?Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. K-9 Lifesavers strongly recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and the new family.    Adoption fees cover basic vetting, rabies (if puppy is old enough), distemper/parvo vaccinations, deworming, monthly heartworm prevention while in our care (if old enough), monthly flea/tick prevention while in our care, and transport costs. K-9 Lifesavers will also cover the cost of spay/neuter at our partner vet at 6 months of age or reimburse adopter for up to the amount of our partner vet cost should you choose to spay/neuter at your own vet.       Foster Program:    Foster homes provide for the temporary care of a rescue until the dog is placed into a loving, forever home.  For more information on becoming a foster parent, and our Foster Program, visit http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/foster/ or email our Foster Coordinator at foster@k-9lifesavers.orgSPONSOR ME! Help Save Lives!  Make a  tax-deductible donation  today by visiting us at http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/donate/   Donations help us offset boarding costs and additional medical treatment for those dogs who need it.  K-9 Lifesavers receives NO federal funding and survive with your generous support! PETRIE NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!!   Name:  Petrie            Best Guess for Breed: Doxie/Beagle Mix      Best Guess for Age:  5 months as of 10/1            SEX:  Male   Estimated Weight (puppies' weights change quickly!):  7 lbs as of 10/1   Gets Along With:  Most puppies are in the prime of their socialization window and will do well with other dogs, cats and kids so long as they receive patience and proper training.   Currently Living at: South Carolina shelter; needs DC area foster or forever home!   Special Adoption Considerations:  Puppies under 6 months of age need to have multiple potty breaks/exercise throughout the day. Potential adopters with a standard 8-hour workday must be willing to make arrangements to meet the needs of their puppy.  Petrie is Looking For:  Hiya! I'm Petrie! Me and my brother, Plocus, are small but we are mighty cute! I'd love to find a forever home that has lots of tiny, fluffy puppy beds for me to sleep on and lots of toys to play with and lots of treats to snack on and lots of laps to snooze on and, and, and, I want it all! I'd love to go on lots of walks and other adventures. I really want lots of running and playtime with other pups. You should see my run---my ears flapping behind me---it's a sight! I'm a puppy so the world is my oyster so I'd love a family to show it to me! What do you say? Am I the one for you? What My Foster Says About Me: Coming soon! Puppy Vetting Requirements: Lucky Puppies have had their age appropriate vaccines, but may not yet be “fully” vaccinated. It is the adopter’s responsibility to ensure that the remaining puppy vaccines are given at the appropriate time. Please also keep in mind that, until your puppy is fully vaccinated, they are at greater risk for illness than an adult dog.      Your new puppy will need to work on their house training and will also need to go to obedience school so they can grow into a well-socialized dog!  TO ADOPT:       The adoption fee for this puppy is $485, which includes the cost of routine vetting and transport from the shelter.    If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online bit.ly/adoptaluckydog   Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. Story
Meet Moses! This cute little guy was surrendered to the rescue after his owners’ work schedule and lifestyle changed. Their loss will be someone else’s gain, and we are happy to help him find his true forever home. He’s still a young pup at only 2 years old and has his whole life ahead of him. Moses has been in his SC foster home for almost a month, living with a foster mom and her three Chihuahuas. He was understandably nervous after losing his home, but after an anxious first day/night, he warmed up, quickly adapted to his new pack, and now acts like he’s lived there his whole life…It was an easy transition. Over the past few weeks, we’ve learned that Moses is a playful pup who loves to go on walks. He’s housetrained, walks great on a leash, and is great with other dogs. Crate training is still a work in progress, but his foster mom has left him with free roam of the house for short periods, and he’s done great. He’s already earned bed privileges at night and is a great snuggler. We checked in with Moses’s foster mom, Carrie, for an update: “Moses is such a great dog! This little boy is so easy to fall in love with .  Here’s some new things I’ve learned about him: He loves mini tennis balls! He’ll play fetch as long as you’ll let him.    He has great food boundaries - doesn’t beg for my food and gives my pups space when they’re eating, doesn’t compete for treats  He is great with door boundaries - will listen to a stay/wait command whenever I open the door and stay where he is He still hates the crate but can be trusted alone uncrated. He loves to be able to look out the window when you’re gone.    He’s an amazing sleeper! He’ll lay in bed with you as long as you let him.   He’s great with my dogs but still very human-oriented. He coexists well with my pack but doesn’t feel like he needs to be part of it. He’s done great with every dog we’ve met on leash, regardless of size. He will do well as an only dog or with others. Moses will be coming to the DC Metro area on 9/16. Apply today! BREED ESTIMATE: Chiweenie (Chi/Doxen Mix) GENDER: Male APPROXIMATE WEIGHT: ~ 11.5 lbs  APPROXIMATE AGE:  ~ 2 years old COAT TYPE:  Short coat ADOPTION FEE: $425 OTHER INFO: utd on shots/neutered/microchipped LOCATION: Will be fostered in Alexandria, VA   FOR MORE INFO OR TO ADOPT: Please go to https://adopt.worthydog.org and complete the application. You can also help save dogs like this one by becoming a foster, providing a rescue dog with a temporary home and giving them the love and care they need until they are permanently adopted. Every person who fosters is directly responsible for saving the life of a dog, because we can only save as many dogs as we have foster families available to welcome them into their homes. If you think you might be interested in becoming a foster and want to learn more, please go to https://foster.worthydog.org and fill out an application. Worthy Dog Rescue is an all-volunteer, foster-based rescue that primarily adopts to families in the DC Metro area. September 30, 2023, 11:48 am
