Story
Gracie is a one-of-a-kind low-riding, wide eared phenomenon who will stare directly into your eyes as if she has an important communication for you, The right adopter will be able to hear her. Her breed blend is a bit of a mystery. Basset? Dachshund? Who knows? Who cares? Not Gracie. Her legs measure approximately 11 baby carrots in length but she toddles through the room with the confidence of a an Amazon. Her ears are wide enough to pick up satellite signals, ensuring free cable for her new family! Gracie is a genuinely lovely little companion. She adores her people, enjoys a slow, thoughtful stroll {emphasis on slow}, and would happily spend the rest of her days being near you while you do absolutely anything… or nothing at all. She is the perfect home companion. Housetrained, good on the leash, happy to go for car rides, generally sleeps through the night. She is happy to spend all her time with her human and wants to be the one and only pet. Her vision and hearing seem pretty solid. Due to her back pain, she has trouble with stairs and would prefer to be carried up and down, like the queen that she is. Gracie would love for her new home to have a fenced yard where she can amble around, sniff things, and soak up the rays. She'd also love to go for lots of walks, have plenty of snuggle time, and enjoy a calm, quiet routine with her beloved human. She is hoping her human will be home most of the time or take her with wherever they go. She loves to be petted and snoodled and talked to. She will follow you everywhere! Not only will she lie AT your feet, she will lie ON your feet! Gracie has cushing's disease, so she will need to stay on medication to help her manage it for life. She also has some arthritis, including the above-mentioned back pain, which is benefitting from joint supplements like Cosequin and medications like gabapentin. She will also benefit from routing anal expressions (sorry, Gracie!). Gracie is a happy, happy dog, with the waggiest tail you could imagine! Gracie will not be your jogging partner or you agility champion, but she will be your devoted, loving companion. Gracie is approx 11 years old and 35 lbs. Fostered in Fairfield, PA Please apply at mirishaven.org

Story
Mr Personality here! 😎 I am an adorable happy guy with good looks and dazzling eyes! I am front and center and greet everyone happily! I was dropped on a country road and promptly walked a half mile of a gravel driveway to scratch on their door and told them to let me in! I am a fun, loving guy with so much zest for a good time! I am not the protective dachshund, I am the Playboy Bassett! I love the other dogs and the foster home and really enjoy playing with any that will return the fun… from Greta Gremlin a 20# boston terrier also needing a home, to the 90# pit mix that cant keep up with me zooming under his body 😂. I love car rides, cats kind of intimidate me so I respect them, kids are great, men and women are all good, anybody who wants to play with me and tell me how gosh darn cute I am! If I’m getting scolded for doing something I shouldn’t have been, I flop on my back and move my paws up and down as if praying for mercy. It tends to work.😂 I don’t like being crated and I am good when I am left out. I will burst out the door and run down the street so that you have to chase me, so I am now required to have a fenced yard. It’s amazing how fast these short little legs can go! Foster mom has gotten me house trained, teaching me to back up at the doorway, and takes me on a daily 1 mile pack walk with six other dogs. I love to check out small dark places like empty cabinets and washing machine machines. Turns out I am heartworm positive… I have started my antibiotics and at the end of May I will require the first of three injections to kill the Heartworms. Adopter will need to follow the vet’s treatment schedule to make sure I get rid of them so they do not end up killing me. I need to be kept calm during June and July when the biggest treatments will be given as that is protocol. I could be easily amused with a ton of enrichment toys! I am very treat motivated! Contact irondawgs13@gmail.com for adoption application.

Well hello there! My name is Babe Tramp, and while I may share my name with a famous Disney pup, I'm hoping to star in my very own happily-ever-after story! My siblings, Babe Dumbo and Babe Lady, and I found ourselves in a crowded shelter in Alabama, which is no place for little puppies. Thankfully, the wonderful folks at K-9 Lifesavers came to our rescue and gave us the second chance we deserve. Now I'm ready to find a forever family to call my own! I'm an adorable little guy with a soft black-and-tan coat that's just begging to be petted. We think I may be a Miniature Pinscher/Dachshund mix, which means I've got plenty of charm and personality packed into a small package. I'm friendly, playful, and love being around people. Whether it's chasing toys, exploring the backyard, or snuggling up after a busy day, I'm happiest when I'm sharing the fun with my favorite humans. At my young age, I'm in the perfect stage for training and socialization. I'm eager to learn, ready for new adventures, and excited to grow into the best companion I can be. If you're looking for a sweet puppy with a handsome coat, a loving heart, and plenty of puppy kisses to share, then look no further than Babe Tramp. Apply today and let me wander right into your heart! Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. K-9 Lifesavers strongly recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and the new family.    Adoption fees cover basic vetting, rabies (if puppy is old enough), distemper/parvo vaccinations, deworming, monthly heartworm prevention while in our care (if old enough), monthly flea/tick prevention while in our care, and transport costs. K-9 Lifesavers will also cover the cost of spay/neuter at our partner vet at 6 months of age or reimburse adopter for up to the amount of our partner vet cost should you choose to spay/neuter at your own vet.Foster Program:    Foster homes provide for the temporary care of a rescue until the dog is placed into a loving, forever home.  For more information on becoming a foster parent, and our Foster Program, visit http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/foster/ or email our Foster Coordinator at foster@k-9lifesavers.orgSPONSOR ME! Help Save Lives!    Make a tax-deductible donation today and help save a life.
