Story
A little note from Jerry - July 2022: Hi, my name is Jerry. I used to be called Scary Jerry because I was afraid of everyone that came near me. But since I've been at Shadow Ranch I've started loosening up and realizing people are kinda okay. So I've outgrown the name and am now just Jerry. I use to be a bit of a rowdy rascal, which entailed herding people by the ankles, barking, and eating poop; but I try really hard to be a good boy and behave.... so now I'm only a rascal on occasion when I get really excited. I love all my dog friends here and playing ball is my favorite; I'm the fastest one of all my friends, but if one of the others somehow get the ball before me I'll just try and steal it from 'em. Not to brag but I'm pretty darn smart and I know to potty outside, how to stay in my crate (although if I'm left out I do enjoy sitting on top of my crate... the view is better from up there), sit, down, shake, and even roll. I shake, rattle, and roll! I like to be active as I have a lot of energy, but I like to cuddle and give licks to my people as well. I've been here at SOS Dog Rescue since September 2021 and I'm so ready to find my forever home, where my family will be patient with me and accept me for my quirky-ness; so I can just be myself... just Jerry. Update on Jerry Dec 21: Jerry can be mouthy (definitely a heeler). Very active, he can be shy with new people and even a little stubborn. Jerry is great with dogs but will not a strong human leader. He is not recommended with children under 12 years old. Jerry came to us from The City of Bakersfield Animal Care Center in September 2021. He is about 2 years old and thought to be a Border Collie/Heeler mix. He is a little shy at first but warms up quick. He is good with dogs and doing well with his training. Stay tuned for more on Jerry!

Story
Heidi came to us on May 2, 2023. She is so sweet, shy and happy. She is slowly coming out of her shell with people but absolutely loves dogs Here is a note from Heidi: Oh... hi. I'm Heidi. Sorry, I'm a little shy and nervous. I really want to meet new people, but I just get a little awkward and scared! But once I get use to someone I really love them! If I'm with my dog buds, I'm able to warm up a bit more to some people. My more outgoing buds give me some encouragement. And I love all my dog buds here. I've been learning how to walk well on a leash and how to sit and place. It's a little confusing for me but I catch on! And I love being in my crate; I feel safe there. I'm hoping for a kind family that won't mind a little awkward-ness at first and will have some patience for me!

Story
Jordan came to us from the City of Bakersfield Animal Care Center in Spring 2023. Here is a note from Jordan: Hey. Uh, are you looking at me? Sorry if I come off as awkward... I just am. Well, I'm Jordan. If you're over there, then I'll stand way over here. And maybe stare at you for prolonged periods. Don't tell me to come inside, because I'd rather not. The people here like to train me in pointless things; so I yell at them and tell them it's dumb. They don't listen though. They make me walk on a leash, and place, and sit... all dumb. They try and tell me to go in the crate, but I like on top of the crate better. Only good thing here is playing with my dog friends and the treats. I guess I gotta put up with these for awhile until someone breaks me out of here. Maybe if I just stand here real still, they won't see me and will leave me alone.

Story
Leia was a rescue dog that I got away from a “seller” that was known for dog fighting. I heard about that and knew I needed to help her. I have had her since May of 2016 when she was 2 months old. She is a very loving dog and is smart as can be. It is with a sad heart that I am looking to rehome her but we have a new baby and unfortunately she needs to be back outside due to allergies. We have a short fence and she is privy to jumping over them. Having found this out I knew I didn’t want her to live a life where she needs to be restrained by a stake and lead in the ground to keep her from jumping the fence. I would love her to go to a home where she can freely be the active dog that she needs to be.
