Story
Valkyrie is a one-year-old dog with a quiet spirit and a heart that’s still learning how to feel safe. He’s very timid and not comfortable with hands-on touch yet, but he is making progress—especially with leash training, which he’s just beginning to understand. Valkyrie will need a truly special home: one that’s patient, calm, and committed to helping a shy dog build confidence at his own pace. His future family must be willing to follow specific protocols and work closely with one of our trainers to support his ongoing rehabilitation. Consistency and understanding will be key to his success. While Valkyrie isn’t the kind of dog who will jump into your arms right away, he has the potential to form deep, meaningful bonds with people who respect his boundaries and celebrate small victories. Watching him learn to trust will be incredibly rewarding for the right adopter. If you have experience with fearful dogs—or are ready to learn with guidance—and can offer a stable, low-pressure environment, Valkyrie may be the dog who quietly changes your life.December 27, 2025, 5:36 pm

Story
Hospice Home Needed We are searching for a very special person (or family) to give one of our dogs the one thing she deserves most: love and comfort for the rest of her life. This sweet girl has cancer in her jaw. We are continuing to look for a rescue, but we want to be honest—the odds are low. Surgery may not improve her quality of life, may not be successful, and would likely cost thousands of dollars with a specialist. Because of that, we believe the kindest path forward is hospice care, not more invasive treatment. What she needs now isn’t a miracle—it’s a home. A quiet place. A soft bed. Someone to love her, advocate for her, and cherish the time she has left. Someone who will let her enjoy good days, help her through the hard ones, and allow her to leave this world with dignity when the time comes. We will support her hospice family however we can and be here every step of the way. She is still here. She still wants affection, comfort, and connection. She still has love to give. If you’ve ever opened your heart to a hospice animal—or think you might be able to—please reach out. Even sharing this post helps more than you know. We know this is a huge ask, knowing this is absolutely heartbreaking, but no dog should have to spend her last days in a shelter. Please help us make sure that her story ends with love, not loneliness in a kennel at a shelter. &#226&#157&#164&#239&#184&#143February 20, 2026, 5:01 pm

Story
Marshall may be small, but he feels the world in a big way. Marshall came from a hoarding case and we recently got custody of him. New people and new places can be overwhelming for him, and he’s still learning that he’s safe. At first, he might hang back and watch from a distance — just taking everything in at his own pace. But give Marshall a little time, and you’ll start to see the sweetness underneath. As he warms up, his gentle, playful side begins to shine. There’s something incredibly special about watching him grow braver day by day. The trust he gives isn’t given lightly — and that makes it all the more meaningful. Marshall is still building confidence and learning the ropes, and he’ll do best in a calm, patient home that understands shy dogs. With consistency, kindness, and encouragement, we know he’ll continue to blossom into a devoted and loving companion.February 20, 2026, 5:01 pm

Story
Sakari is a special dog who will need a very special home. She is extremely fearful and has clearly spent a long time living on the streets, which has shaped her independent nature. Because of this, Sakari will not be placed in just any home. Her adopter must be patient, experienced, and willing to work closely with a professional trainer to help her continue building trust and confidence. Despite her fears, Sakari is very intelligent and observant, and she shows great potential with the right guidance and structure. She will do best in a calm, understanding environment where expectations are realistic and progress is allowed to happen at her pace. Sakari isn’t for everyone—but for the right person committed to giving her the time, training, and compassion she needs, she has the potential to be an incredibly rewarding companion.December 24, 2025, 2:47 pm

Story
Meet Sally & Sasha  These two beautiful husky mix girls recently came into our shelter through Animal Control after being reported multiple times and, finally, safely caught. Now that they’re here, their story is taking a much brighter turn. We named them Sally and Sasha, and both are estimated to be around 3–5 years old. While they likely shared some of the same experiences out on their own, their medical needs were very different. Sasha is a total sweetie pie — a gentle, darling girl who came in with far fewer medical concerns and has been soaking up all the love and attention since day one. Sally, however, needed a bit more help. She came to us with a vaginal prolapse, which is a condition where vaginal tissue protrudes outside the body. In dogs, this can happen due to hormonal changes, especially during heat cycles, and it can become very uncomfortable or even dangerous if left untreated. While Sally was undergoing surgery to spay her (which helps correct and prevent future prolapse), our veterinarian discovered something even more serious: pyometra. Pyometra is a life-threatening uterine infection that occurs in unspayed female dogs. The uterus fills with infection and toxins, and without prompt treatment, it can be fatal. Thankfully, it was caught just in time, though it was already pretty severe. This surgery saved her life. The good news? Sally is now on her road to recovery and doing wonderfully with us by her side every step of the way. Both girls will be loved, cared for, and spoiled while they’re with us — getting medical care, comfort, full bellies, and plenty of affection as they heal and decompress. We are now accepting adoption applications for both Sally and Sasha! If you’re looking to add a loyal, resilient, and loving companion to your family, one of these girls might be your perfect match. Thank you for supporting shelter dogs and for giving second chances a chance.  February 11, 2026, 6:19 pm
