Story

Mr. McGoo was found as a stray with poor coat quality. Rescues were unwilling to take him due to the medical cost required to address his skin. With our veterinarians help, he is ready to find his new home. He is currently on a hypo allergenic diet and weekly baths. We will soon try a new diet to see if he truly needs the special diet. He has been reactive to other dogs... he is now neutered and we are hoping his reactivity will decrease with time and proper owner handling. He would do best in a home without other pets and experienced dog owners. He currently knows his basic manners and is continuing to work on his reaction to dogs.

Lionel’s life started in a loving home, but big changes left him without the stability he needed. His family circumstances changed and he (and his dog and cat siblings) found himself looking for a new home. At just four years old, Lionel found himself scared and unsure, suddenly needing to learn a whole new way of living. This big, goofy boy had grown up in a rural home without much exposure to strangers, new dogs, or busy environments. That lack of early socialization left him feeling overwhelmed when he first came into our care. But with patience, gentle handling, and the support of an experienced foster home, Lionel has begun to blossom. His true self—smart, affectionate, and just a little silly—shines brighter every day

Thank you for your interest in River. River came to us from an owner who got him from somewhere in the USA. He arrived so fearful that the owner didn't really know what to do with him so he, and another dog, were kept in a shed with an attached yard. The owner didn't interact with them much and River thought that was absolutely fine. People are scary, the world is scary and he was comfortable in his little part of the world. Well, things changed the day River came to SPIN.

Name: Hazel Breed: Yellow Lab mix Age: 4 years old Weight: 22 lbs Sex: Spayed Female Hazel is looking for her forever home as she needs a home where she can feel comfortable and well loved. Hazel’s ideal home would have an active lifestyle and no other pets (cats or dogs) as well as no young children. Hazel currently lives with another dog and two cats which generally causes no issue but she can spontaneously be reactive with them as well as other pets when sharing her space. This behaviour has caused tension in the home and part of the reason we have made the difficult decision to rehome her. Hazel has welcomed play with other dogs in open spaces like the dog parks and kennels (in controlled areas) when properly introduced. Someone who is experienced with protective/anxious behaviour would be ideal for Hazel. Hazel is very active and needs a large yard for her to spend her energy and play. Daily off-leash walks through Conroy Pit are part of her current daily routine. Hazel would excel in a quiet area out of the city since she is nervous around heavy traffic and loud noises. Hazel is shy at first but when she feels comfortable, she will open up to her sweet and loving self who will do anything to make her people happy. She has a bubbly personality and loves to snuggle with you whenever she can. Hazel is very intelligent, her recall commands are on cue, sitting, laying down, giving paws, and other commands (drop, leave it, touch, etc.) and absolutely loving off-leash walks/ hikes in trails. Catching frisbees and playing fetch are her favorite things to do. Hazel loves to swim and go paddleboarding and we also believe she would be very good at agility training if given the opportunity. Hazel is crate trained and house trained. Hazel has surprisingly tested positive for Lyme in recent blood work despite always been on preventatives (Nex Guard Spectra in summer months and Nex Guard throughout winter months) and never showing any symptoms. Hazel has been very healthy and requires no medications. She is also up to date on all her vaccines.
