Story
June Carter has been with LAWS since she and her littermates were rescued as tiny 5-week-old puppies from the Wind River Reservation. They arrived in our care very sick with parvovirus, but with dedicated care and love, June fought through and grew into the gentle, sensitive soul she is today. June is not the right fit for every home, and that’s okay. She is currently thriving in a loving foster home while she waits for the perfect match. June is fearful of men and will only be considered for a female-only household. Once she feels safe, she is affectionate, playful, incredibly loyal, and loves spending time outdoors, especially in the snow. She also enjoys the companionship of other dogs and does well with cats. Because June is shy and needs time to build trust, we are looking for a local foster-to-adopt home where she can settle in at her own pace before finalizing an adoption. June has hip dysplasia, which is successfully managed with daily joint supplements. She will need a securely fenced yard where she can safely play and feel secure. She is crate-trained, eager to learn, and thrives in a calm, predictable environment. June will not be placed in a home with men or children. She generally enjoys other dogs but has occasional resource-guarding behaviors with high-value food and treats, so thoughtful management and introductions are important. June’s ideal home is with a patient, experienced woman who understands that trust takes time. In return, she will gain a devoted, affectionate companion whose loyalty runs deep. June’s exact breed mix is unknown, but we know she’s searching for the one person who will help her continue building confidence and live the happy life she deserves.

🐾 Please Read Entirely Before Applying Foster to Forever Puppy Lola joins her family through our Foster to Forever (FTF) Program rather than our standard adoption process. Please read all information below in its entirety before applying. Please skip the “Apply for Adoption” button above. To apply for Lola, please use our Foster to Forever application instead: https://www.laramie-animals.org/foster-to-forever-application The application begins with a page titled “Your Animal Information.” Please enter Lola there — that page is asking which of our puppies you would like to bring home, not about a pet you already own. Enter Lola again further down, where the form asks which LAWS puppy you are applying for. Full Foster to Forever Program details and requirements are provided below. Thank you for taking the time to review the information carefully. Lola Lola is a sweet, playful, and adventurous puppy who came to LAWS from the Wind River Reservation along with her brother, Toa. Like her siblings, Lola is starting her next chapter in foster care where she has been able to learn, grow, and show off her wonderful personality. Lola is a happy, social puppy who loves to play, explore, and spend time with her people. She enjoys the company of other dogs and has done well meeting new friends. She is curious about the world around her and is always ready for a new adventure. Like most puppies her age, Lola is still learning about the world and what it means to be a well-mannered family member. She is continuing to work on potty training and will need a family committed to providing patience, consistency, positive reinforcement, and continued puppy training as she grows. Lola has not lived with children, but like her brother, she enjoys meeting new people and will benefit from continued socialization as she matures. We estimate Lola was born around May 13, 2026. If you are looking for a fun-loving, affectionate, and adventurous puppy to grow alongside your family, Lola may be the perfect match for you. Because these puppies came from the Wind River Reservation and we do not have previous history on them, we are unsure of their breed mix. Important Notice – This Puppy is Available Through Our Foster to Forever (FTF) Program This puppy is available exclusively through the Laramie Animal Welfare Society's Foster to Forever (FTF) Program and is not eligible for standard adoption at this time. The Foster to Forever Program is designed for young puppies who are not yet old enough to complete their required spay/neuter surgery. Approved FTF families will welcome the puppy into their home as a foster with the intention of adopting; however, the puppy's adoption will not be finalized until all required veterinary care has been completed, including the mandatory spay/neuter procedure at 16 weeks of age. Before applying, please understand: • Applicants must reside in Albany County, Wyoming. • FTF families must be committed to fostering the puppy with the intention of adopting. • The puppy will remain under LAWS' care and legal responsibility until all required veterinary requirements are completed and the adoption is finalized. • FTF families are responsible for providing the puppy's daily care, including food, treats, and supplies during the program period. • Families must attend all scheduled LAWS veterinary appointments, including booster vaccinations and the mandatory spay/neuter procedure at 16 weeks of age, and maintain regular communication with their Adoption Coordinator throughout the program. Story
Meet Olive! ❤️ Olive’s journey to us is a pretty special one. She and her friend Dottie were rescued from a dog-hoarding situation and brought to safety by Best Friends Animal Society in Utah. From there, they were transferred to LAWS from a high-volume animal shelter near Las Vegas and placed into loving foster homes where they could finally begin to experience the comfort, patience, and security they deserve. Now, Olive is ready for the next chapter of her story, a forever home of her very own. Hi, I’m Olive! I’m estimated to be about 5 or 6 years old, and I’m slowly discovering that the world isn’t quite as scary as I once thought. When I first arrived, car rides turned me into a furry little statue. I would sit completely still and hope no one noticed me. Now I occasionally stick my head out the window and let my ears flap in the breeze! I’m not ready to call myself a professional road-trip dog, but I’m definitely making progress. When I moved into my current foster home, for several days, I wouldn’t let anyone come near me or pet me. Now my foster can pick me up and snuggle me, for a short time. Please understand that I love love; I just prefer it without the squeezing, hugging, and excessive cuddling. Think gentle pets, encouraging words, and a good belly rub. I enjoy lying on the couch near my people, but I don’t necessarily need to lie on top of them. I’m an independent lady with boundaries! I’m learning how to play and sometimes get a case of the zoomies. When I’m really excited, I perform a special routine that includes a few deer jumps, a spin, and an attempt to catch my own tail. Tickets to the show are currently free! I would love a smaller dog companion or possibly an older puppy, who enjoys playing but will be patient while I learn. Sometimes my dog mom, Dottie, reassures me that I’m a good girl, but I especially love hearing it from kind humans. Once I trust someone, I look to that person for safety and guidance. I’m very eager to please, but I still worry that I’m in trouble when I’m not. Loud noises and raised voices can cause me to cower and arch my back, even if no one is speaking to me. Thunder and fireworks don’t seem to bother me much, though. Apparently, I have a very specific list of concerns! Mealtime also requires a little encouragement. I need reminders about which dinner bowl is mine and reassurance that it’s okay to eat from it. I may have gotten in trouble for choosing the wrong bowl in my former life. Snacks, however, are much less confusing. I understand snacks perfectly! I like having my kennel as a safe retreat, but I also enjoy having a dog bed near the humans. I can manage the outdoor stairs leading to the deck, but indoor stairs are still suspicious and should not be trusted. I currently refuse to go up or down them. I’m getting better on a leash and have started exploring instead of hiding behind my humans. I stay close to my home and people, but I shouldn’t be trusted off leash just yet. I recently discovered rabbits and squirrels, and those speedy little creatures can make my listening skills temporarily disappear. I don’t know how I feel about cats because I may not have met any yet. I would prefer a home without children, although calm, older kids who won’t make loud noises, squeeze me, or chase me for hugs might be okay. As I become more comfortable with the world, I may even enjoy agility classes. I already have the deer jumps and spinning portions mastered! What I need most is a quiet, patient forever family that will celebrate every brave step, remind me that I’m safe, and tell me often that I’m a very good girl. I’m still building my confidence, but I know I can keep doing great things, especially with a forever family that believes in me while I learn to believe in myself. ❤️ **Olive is believed to be Chihuahua/Beagle mix based on her appearance and characteristics. Breed identification is an estimate only, as no DNA testing has been performed to confirm her breed mix.

Meet Dottie! ❤️ Dottie’s journey to us is a pretty special one. She and her friend Olive were rescued from a dog-hoarding situation and brought to safety by Best Friends Animal Society in Utah. From there, they were transferred to LAWS from a high-volume animal shelter near Las Vegas and placed into loving foster homes where they could finally begin to experience the comfort, patience, and security they deserve. Now, Dottie is ready for the next chapter of her story, a forever home of her very own. Hi, my name is Dottie and I am a loving, low-key lady looking for my very own person to follow around, adore, and convince to give me unlimited belly rubs! I can sit pretty without even being asked, although, if we’re being honest, I probably look more like a little gopher popping up to inspect the neighborhood than actually doing a trick. I may technically be a dog, but being a house cat is more my speed. I’m a little older, I enjoy my beauty sleep, and I believe naps should be taken very seriously. Sometimes I need a reminder to go outside because getting out of bed is hard when you have important sleeping to do! I am potty trained, though. I enjoy car rides, short walks, and, my newest discovery, pup cups! I’m still getting used to walking on a leash. I listen pretty well when I’m off leash, but please don’t trust me too much. Every now and then, my sense of adventure may be stronger than my listening ears! Cats don’t bother me, and I mostly let other dogs do their own thing while I do mine. I’m not interested in being the life of the doggy party. I would prefer a quiet home without children, or possibly one with older, calmer kids who understand that I don’t enjoy lots of noise, hugging, or squeezing. I’m frightened by thunder, fireworks, and raised voices, even when no one is talking to me. When I feel scared or overwhelmed, I can sometimes get a little snippy, like a grumpy teacher who has already asked the class to settle down three times. I’m not trying to be difficult; I just need patience, reassurance, and a little space to feel safe. Food is one of my greatest passions. I love meals, snacks, treats, and especially other dogs’ treats when no one is looking. Sometimes I need reassurance that my food bowl really belongs to me. I may have gotten in trouble for eating the wrong food in my former life because I occasionally cower at mealtime. My dream is simple: a calm forever home where I can be someone’s faithful companion, receive love and belly rubs all day, take plenty of naps, enjoy the occasional car ride or short walk, and look forward to a steady supply of snacks. If you need a sweet little shadow, professional napper, part-time gopher, and full-time treat inspector, I may be the perfect dog for you! ❤️ **Dottie is believed to be Chihuahua/Beagle mix based on her appearance and characteristics. Breed identification is an estimate only, as no DNA testing has been performed to confirm her breed mix.
