Story
Lyra (Lie-Ruh) was born December 9, 2022. We got her when she was 5 months old from a farm where she was indoor-outdoor. She's only indoor now, and we'd prefer she stay that way. She's fully vaccinated, spayed, and microchipped. She's the softest cat I've ever had, with short, fluffy fur (We feed her tiki cat indoor formula, probably partly why!).   She's rather shy of strangers, and hides whenever new people come in, but is fully attached to her people. She loves afternoon naps, laying on our chest. She loves to play, especially wrestle with stuffed animals, chew on cardboard (she needs things available to chew) or chase strings. She does play bite a bit when she plays, and can get over stimulated with too much petting - but her bites never draw blood. She loves scratches on her head and neck. We've gotten to know her body language when enough is enough.   She weaves in and out of our legs. She's unable to jump on counters for some reason - she can't jump high - so that could be a big bonus for you! We had a cat when we brought her in, and unfortunately our current cat never accepted her. Lyra would love to have a friend I believe, she did have friends on her farm when she was a kitten as well as a dog - but I don't know how well she'd adapt to another cat being a little over a year old now but with proper introduction this should work.   She was recently diagnosed with asthma, and we've been giving her oral steroids every 24-28 hours for the last couple months. We've been using wood pellet litter as clay is bad for kitty lungs. Ideally she'd get on an inhaler 2x a day as that has fewer long term side effects for kitties versus the oral steroids. With the proper care she can live a long, healthy and happy life!   For more information on meeting and adopting this kitty, please fill out a pre-adoption application under 'ADOPT' on our website at WWW.CATSCRADLERESCUE.COM. Your information will be forwarded to the foster parent for follow-ups and meeting arrangement. Cat's Cradle is an all-volunteer, non-profit foster-home based rescue serving Oregon cats who need new homes. 100% of your adoption fee goes to provide for the medical and physical needs of the cats in our care. We invite you to become a foster parent and experience the great satisfaction of helping a cat or kitten in need.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 25, 2024, 8:21 pm

Story
Meet Stanley T. Manley, affectionately known as Stan, a remarkably gentle and sensitive cat of 2 years, who doubles as my emotional support animal. Adopted at seven months old, Stanley initially harbored a preference for women, but over time, he's grown closer to me, albeit with a skittish demeanor and reluctance to be handled. Despite his initial reservations, he thrives on lap time and belly rubs when he feels at ease.   While he enjoys playful pursuits like chasing treats, he's not one for aggressive play with toys. Indoors since adoption, Stanley's sociable nature extends to dogs and cats after an initial adjustment period. Remarkably, he's never displayed aggression toward humans, even during his previous tenure with young children. My partner and I ended up separating, and reluctantly, she had to leave Stanley with me.   Though I've cherished Stanley's companionship, recent strains in our relationship have prompted me to acknowledge that he requires more attention and care than I can currently provide, particularly given my nocturnal work schedule. Regrettably, lapses in maintaining his litter box have led to instances of urinating on my clothes, indicative of his distress. Recognizing his need for a stable and nurturing environment, I'm earnestly seeking a new home for Stanley, one where he'll find the companionship and care he deserves.   Stanley's health is diligently maintained, with recent veterinary confirmation of his well-being and up-to-date vaccinations. However, he'll require dental care in the coming months and would benefit from a weight management plan. I possess comprehensive records of his medical history, ensuring a seamless transition for his future caretaker. If you're seeking a devoted feline companion, Stanley eagerly awaits the opportunity to bring joy and comfort to your home.  Indoor only, $50 rehoming fee.   This cat is offered for adoption due to the owner's personal circumstances. For more information on meeting and adopting this kitty, please fill out a pre-adoption application under "ADOPT" on our website at WWW.CATSCRADLERESCUE.COM. Story
Simon is such a loving cat, he enjoys sleeping with you on the couch or in your bed. He absolutely loves being in the kitchen smelling the food cooking, he’s not really one to jump on the counters when you’re in the kitchen.   Sweet Simon is currently an inside/outside cat but could learn to be indoor only and is used to farm life like chickens and bunnies. He tolerates other cats and wouldn’t mind a buddy either dog or cat.  Children are also ok if they are respectful.   This cat is offered for adoption due to the owner's personal circumstances. For more information on meeting and adopting this kitty, please fill out a pre-adoption application under "ADOPT" on our website at WWW.CATSCRADLERESCUE.COM. Story
Rufus is the most social cat I have ever met. When someone enters my home, he immediately wants to say hello and is requesting pets. He is very calm, takes lots of naps, but can be playful when intimated by a human or other animals. Rufus has always lived as an indoor/outdoor cat, but he MUST be an indoor only cat due to health issues that need better monitoring. I know this will make him sad, but it's what is best for him. He is prone to getting urinary crystals, and it can quickly lead to kidney failure. The first time this happened (only crystals, no kidney failure) was about 1.5 years ago, he was put on a prescription food diet. Despite that, he had two episodes within two weeks of each other a little over a month ago of kidney failure and required overnight care at the vet. He is now fully recovered, doing incredibly well, and back to his normal eating habits. He is a big tomcat at 17 lbs. He handles having his front claws clipped well. He uses his scratching posts consistently and loves a mid-height cat tree. Knows how to use a litter box and only eats dry food (I've tried wet foods to help with his crystals as a result of dehydration, but he is not interested). He has been a patient with Liberty Animal Hospital in South Salem, and I would recommend continuing his care there since he knows his history and they are an amazing team that also love him (they said he is the easiest and sweetest cat they've ever had to care for). He comes with a litter box, whatever food I have left, an automatic feeder, and I have a bed for him that he hasn't used a lot, but it might bring him comfort when he moves. This guy wants to be friends with everyone and enjoys being in the company of others, so if you want a furry addition to the family that is all love and purrs, he is your man! This cat is offered for adoption due to the owner's personal circumstances. Rehoming fee is $60. Story
I have two bonded sister kitties that need to be re-homed. I am moving to go to grad school and the housing provided doesn't allow pets. They are two years old in May, neutered, litterbox trained, and indoor/outdoor. Ruthie is very shy and timid, but once she warms up to you and gains your trust, she is a sweetheart who loves to cuddle and lap-nap. Once she's comfortable she remembers she likes pets and snugs and will start to make biscuits. You’ll need to follow her lead with patience. She is also incredibly smart. She can open bread boxes and lids of containers, but luckily, she hasn’t learned how to open cabinet doors! She hides when new people come around (especially kids) but within a couple hours she'll come out. She gets along with other cats, almost to a fault (she likes to make friends). She doesn't have any medical issues. Hazel is a total lover and doesn’t discriminate sharing her affection. She is a firecracker who can’t get enough play time and loves her boxes. An athletic acrobat, she will flip in the air and zip across the room all day, meaning she needs to play! She loves to hang out with other cats and is great with kids. She is bonded to her sister Ruthie, so they need to be re-homed together. She doesn't have any medical issues.   This cat is offered for adoption due to the owner's personal circumstances. Adoption fee is $50. For more information on meeting and adopting this kitty, please fill out a pre-adoption application under "ADOPT" on our website at WWW.CATSCRADLERESCUE.COM.
