Story
Wilbur was found with two other similarly aged kittens in the summer of 2021. All were fixed, vaccinated and well cared for. Wilbur must compete with another household cat (one that he grew up with) that continually dominates him. It has been hard on Wilbur, a shy and sweet boy. Wilbur needs a home where he can be the one and only. A quiet home without alarming sounds or fast moving inhabitants (such as kids). When the other cat sn’t around Wilbur comes out of his shell and approaches me carefully, always looking over his shoulder in fear that the other cat is going to push him out of the way, or worse, clobber him. It has been this way for 4 years. When I remove the other cat from the home for a few days at a time, Wilbur comes out to greet people, though gingerly and with an antenna on high alert for the other cat. He will sleep on the bed cuddled up against me on nights that the other cat is outside. I can no longer let both cats in the room at the same time. Wilbur loves to play with toys and the red light but he won’t play much when the boss cat is watching. He has had all of his vaccinations, regular vet visits, and is in good health. He is looking for a quiet warm home, he loves to go outside and hang out in the shrubs and among the flowers. He wants to have a human to cuddle with without being dominated by another cat. His owner lives in Salem and his rehoming fee is $100. Wilbur loves to snuggle and is good as a mostly indoor cat with occasional outside privileges. Wilbur lives in Salem with his caregiver and his rehoming fee is $100. Story
Hera, 2 years old is a work-in-progress reformed feral cat loves attention and affection when she is in the mood. She was born on the street with Dauntless and took a lot longer than Dauntless to adjust being inside. There are moments where Hera seems like she's bipolar: one moment she'll be okay and happy, then the next she'll be agitated and hiss. (But I think that's partly because she doesn't do too well with a lot of other cats and she doesn't do too well with other females who act like "queens" of the house). There are other moments when she likes to just lay next to you and sleep, but not be petted or held, but there are other moments where she likes to play with toys, specifically lasers and feathers. She loves to eat and she especially loves wet food. She loves shelves and cat trees with soft beds and she likes to hang out on balconies, but, because she used to be a feral, I would make sure the space is enclosed. Hera was born on the streets and has been with with my family since we picked her up off the street and it's taken her a little while to warm up to us and become accustomed to being inside so it will take her a little bit of time getting accustomed to a new home and owner. Once she gets used to her new home and family, she'll settle down and as long as she feels like she isn't going to hop from one family to the next, she'd be an amazing new companion. Hera really is a loving and sweet little girl. She would do best as an only cat or maybe a second cat who's a male and she did okay with our older dog, though she mostly just ignored him. Why we're rehoming her: She doesn't do well with my black female cat and she deserves to be in a home where she gets more attention than she already does.   Hera lives in Gresham with her family and her rehoming fee is $30.  Indoor only please.   For more information on meeting and adopting this kitty, please fill out a pre-adoption application under "ADOPT" on our website at WWW.CATSCRADLERESCUE.COM. Story
Kitty is a beautiful 13-year-old tortoiseshell who is as affectionate as they come. She’s a total lap cat who loves to snuggle and soak up attention, and despite her age, she still has a playful side — especially when chaser toys, or her own tail, are involved! Curious by nature, Kitty always wants to be part of whatever you’re doing and will happily “help” with your day-to-day tasks. She would thrive in a calm, quiet home where she can be the only animal and have plenty of company throughout the day. Kitty enjoys gentle companionship and would do well with respectful children who understand animal body language. Her perfect day includes a warm lap, a few chin scratches, and a chance to explore the outdoors to take in all the new smells and sounds. Kitty is being rehomed through no fault of her own — her current owner’s schedule has changed, meaning she’s often home alone, which has caused some stress-related litter box issues. With more time, attention, and a peaceful environment, Kitty will quickly settle back into her happy, loving self.  Kitty lives in Portland with her owner and her rehoming fee is $50. This cat is offered for adoption due to the owner's personal circumstances. For more information on meeting and adopting this kitty, please fill out a pre-adoption application under "ADOPT" on our website at WWW.CATSCRADLERESCUE.COM. Story
Is this seat taken? My name is Samwise, Sam for short, and I am looking for a warm lap to snooze on. HEALTH NOTICE: My people believe I may have been hit by a car before they found me in the garden. My jaw hurts sometimes so it’s best if my food is softened. I have other symptoms of injuries that didn’t heal correctly. I can be a little clumsy and sometimes I hurt a little, but all that doesn’t slow me down! I just wanted to let you know since it makes me a little different. I’m really just an ordinary kitty. I like to jump up on windowsills and watch the world. I like to scratch so please give me a post or something fun for my claws. I’ll play with fuzzy mice, cardboard boxes, and I love messing up the bathroom mat. I also have an affinity to jump in the shower or tub after you’re done using them. Maybe I want to wash my paws. I’m not particularly shy with people and I’m cautiously curious of new things. But most of all, I want to sit with you. Or on you. I purr the moment you look my way or pat my head. Good with other cats? Probably not. I stayed at another home for a short while and the resident cat and I did not get along too well. Good with dogs? Yes! I like to play with my dog brothers, but I’ll need a dog that can be gentle. Good with kids? I would prefer older kids who will understand that I’ll need gentle handling. I am spayed. I am not declawed. I am up to date on vaccines. I have tested negative for kitty leukemia and HIV/AIDS. Potential adopters with mobility issues beware: I do like to occasionally pounce on the passing foot or run across your path when I’m feeling playful. Due to my health needs, it would be best if I remain an indoor kitty. I live in Salem with my caregiver and my rehoming fee is $100. Story
We have been caring for these three wonderful cats for about five months and are now looking for permanent, loving homes for them. They are 7 months old, had their surgery and are ready for their new lives. Jake has beautiful markings and a playful, adventurous spirit. Midnight is also adventurous and she is very affectionate. Priss is a bit shy at first but absolutely loves attention once she feels comfortable. (PRISS IS ADOPTED) All three are very socialized, funny, and bring a lot of joy—we laugh at their antics every day. They all enjoy mealtime and always expect a treat at the end of the day. No matter what they’re doing, when I call “cats,” they come running together. Due to our cat allergies, they currently spend time in a covered breezeway and sleep safely in the shop at night. Unfortunately, because of health issues, we can no longer continue caring for them and truly want to see them placed in permanent, loving homes. These siblings love the in/out life but would also do well as indoor only. Their adoption fee is $50 each or $80 for a pair.  These sweet kittens live in rural Hillsboro with their foster family.   For more information on meeting and adopting this kitty, please fill out a pre-adoption application under "ADOPT" on our website at WWW.CATSCRADLERESCUE.COM.
