Story
Granby is a handsome 8-year-old Foxhound/Beagle mix. He has had a lot of change in his life and is seeking new accommodations. First, his human died and then his best buddy who was a cat died. He finds himself a little out of sorts with folks who are keeping him safe but not dog people. He is house trained and walks well on leash. He is tentative about strangers coming to the house and needs to work on proper introductions or put in another room or crate if guests are over. Granby has 5 personal trainer sessions with a trainer who knows him that will transfer to his adopter (Falls Church, VA area, willing to travel in DMV area). His ideal home is a quiet one without children and lots of people coming and going. We are seeking an adopter who has Fox Hound or dog experience who knows how to show leadership to a pup. He weighs 70 pounds and is full grown. Adoption fee is waived, but approval process is not. Meet and greets are by appointment only with approved applicants. If you are interested in fostering to adopt, please fill out the online application: https://www.lastchanceanimalrescue.org/adoption-request-form/ If you have been approved within the past 6 months and are interested in Granby, please reply to your approval email. Story
Major's been doing great in his foster home! He knows to potty outside and hasn’t had any accidents in the house, just some intentional marking which will dissipate after his neuter. Major is VERY playful. He loves to play with the 10 month old chihuahua puppy in the house. His foster mom has even taken him to the park with her friend's Bernese Mountain dogs and he got along great with them too. There have been no issues with the cats. He is a chewer but if you trade him a toy he is content gnawing on that. He’s a sweet boy and likes attention, but also entertains himself laying on the couch or playing with toys. Major is a sweet, affectionate, friendly, silly hound. If you're looking for a happy, joyful boy, Major may just be your perfect jam.

Story
I found Lucia on February 11th, 2021 in a house under construction, next to a propane tank heater, trying to stay warm. It had snowed the night before and she was absolutely muddy and wet. The vet estimated her to be 10 years old while another estimated her to be 8. I think she's younger. The vet also said she had injuries to both her front legs where they were fractured and repaired on their own causing a bow to both. I decided to keep her then. Unfortunately I am not in the best place to have her anymore. There's a lot more I'd like to say but I'm limited with characters. She's super sweet. Loves food. Can be a little jumpy with noises. Loves walks. And loves attention! Seriously, if you could pet her all day she would let you! I would love to see her got to her forever home that will provide her with the love and attention she deserves.

The next moment, you'll find me sprawled out on the comfiest spot in the house, daydreaming about treats and belly rubs. Food? Oh, let's talk about food! I'm not just a food enthusiast; I'm a food connoisseur. Treats, kibbles, and whatever falls off the kitchen counter— I'll savor every morsel like it's a gourmet meal. I've got a nose that can sniff out a crumb from a mile away, and my eyes light up at the mere mention of a snack! I'm not just a pretty face and a wagging tail, though. I've got a heart as big as the moon and enough love to fill every room in your home. I'm on the lookout for a family that is ready to open their home to an girl like me... almost a senior but not there yet .. LOL.  what do you say? Story
Meet Ciccio! Ciccio is a 4-year-old male American Foxhound. Ciccio is an active and incredibly smart boy who likes exploring his surroundings, relaxing on the couch while you scratch his tummy, going for walks, and running. A fenced-in yard would be ideal for running and playing; he would also be a fabulous running/hiking buddy as he is always up for a fun adventure! Ciccio knows basic commands such as “sit”, “down”, “stay”, “come here”, and “paw”. He is a quick learner and learns new commands very easily. Ciccio would love an active family. If you enjoy a good game of fetch and rope tug, you'll have a friend for life in Ciccio. Ciccio has a lot of love to give but when transferred to our rescue via the owner (for getting away from the townhouse/ no fenced yard) showed some concerning behaviors at first (Barking non stop, did not allow food to be removed, barrier protection and did not react well when restrained). He no longer shows these behaviors, with his care taker, but any future adopter/owner will need to be aware that he needs time to get into a routine. Ciccio NEEDS routine. We recommend a home for Ciccio without young children. A home with a fenced yard, and possibly someone who loves walking a dog. Ciccio loves walks, but is strong on leash. Ciccio encountered dogs on his walk that charged him and that were lose and practiced avoidance. He gets used to other foster dogs in his space and shows signs of playfulness with smaller young dogs. If you'd like to meet Ciccio, please apply at www.puppypawsrescue.org. If you're not ready to adopt but would like to learn about fostering, please send us a message to get started. We are always looking for fosters! PLEASE NOTE: We review veterinary care for applicants. This includes regular well visits, core vaccinations, spay/neuter, heartworm, tickborne tests, regular monthly heartworm prevention, and flea/tick prevention. You MUST contact your veterinarian’s office to give them permission to speak to us BEFORE we call them to verify the care you have provided for your pets. Applications are available at www.puppypawsrescue.org If your application meets our adoption criteria, we will contact you within 1 week. At that time, you will be contacted (usually by email) to schedule a phone interview and a virtual home visit (Facetime, Skype, etc). PLEASE CHECK your SPAM folder for emails from Puppy Paws Rescue. Due to the volume of applications, applications that do not move forward to an interview may not receive a reply within that time frame. Our rescue is an all-volunteer team managing families, our paying jobs, households, foster dogs, application processing, interviews, home visits, follow-up, transports, and much more. We ask that you are courteous and patient with us. If you’re seeing this listing the dog/puppy is still available. Please do not send an inquiry asking if the dog/puppy is available. All of our dogs/puppies are kept in private foster homes. For this reason, we do not schedule meets until after an application has been processed and approved. If you’re interested in meeting the animal, you must first submit an application on our website- www.puppypawsrescue.org.

Story
Inca is looking for their forever home! WHAT MY FOSTER SAYS ABOUT ME: There is nothing Inca loves more than humans and thrives on human connection - she will greet everyone with her wagging tail and endearing looks. A true social butterfly, Inca is a favorite during walks, where she gladly accepts all the pets and praises showered upon her. She loves to spend her days going on long walks in the park, playing tug-of-war, looking out the window, and snoozing at home. She is an independent girl and will do well alone - some quality time outdoors with her people is all she needs to keep her happy. While Inca is generally great on her walks, she is learning to 'look at me' to help with her fear of big trucks. She has fairly good recall (though sometimes she cannot resist reaching the nearest human for pets) and is starting to get comfortable with being off leash outside so she can do what she loves the most - run free and play tag with her human in the park. Inca has been known to do fairly well in a crate in the past, but she is the best-behaved girl when left on her own, and will easily relax in her favorite spots at home. Though she loves to say hello and play with most dogs she meets, she is still learning to share and can get easily overwhelmed, and may be best suited as the only dog at home. Inca has spent her time in different homes, but she is a resilient girl - she is looking for a patient, forever home with people who can understand her sensitivities and give her the comfort she is craving for. ATTRIBUTES: Inca should not be placed in a home with children, but does well with children outside of the home. -------------- Laila's Legacy Animal Rescue does not guarantee that any dog is housebroken nor crate trained.
