Story
Female, 2 yrs old, 42lbs (underweight) Personality: adaptable, affectionate, easygoing, good running partner, adventurous, goofy/funny, mischievous, playful, energetic, snuggler, rambunctious, and smart. Mabel makes it impossible not to have a smile on your face when you're together. She'll greet you every morning with tail wags and kisses, and her favorite thing is a rousing game of tug or chase, followed by a snuggle in the nearest available lap. Next on Mabel's list of fun activities is taking long nose-to-the-ground walks, and she's wonderful in the car if you want to take her on an adventure farther from home (she makes a fantastic hiking partner and she won't even complain about a bath after!). Mabel's foster says she is great at picking up cues from other animals - she respects boundaries set by dogs and cats alike, and even knows how to mimic the preferred play style of the resident dog in her foster home. A very food-motivated girl, Mabel has already learned words like "sit, "lay down, "potty, and "come." She seems to have figured out housetraining and is adjusting well to her crate. Does Marvelous Miss Mabel sound like the perfect fit for you? Apply today to meet her! Follow @aellis07 for more of Mabel's adventures. _________________________________________________________________________ If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat, we require an adoption application. If the animal has "HAS APPLICATION" listed, they are still available to receive additional applications but also may be in the process of being adopted soon. Learn more, see our list of dogs needing foster, and apply, https://www.citydogsrescuedc.org/foster-a-city-dog.html City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is a foster-based rescue in Washington, DC. We do not have a shelter. CDCK has a thorough adoption process to find the best possible fit for each of our dogs and cats (we do not operate under a first-come, first-served model). Upon accepting a new cat or dog into the organization, we provide a basic vet visit that includes necessary vaccinations, disease screenings, deworming, microchips, and spay/neuter for dogs six months and older. We do not provide a comprehensive medical exam before adoption. As a result, sickness, injury, and disability may exist unbeknownst to CDCK. City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is not responsible for payment of any vet care, including known and unknown medical conditions once a cat or dog is adopted from us. Dog specific: Rabies, DHPP, Lepto and Bordetella vaccines. They are tested for HW, Lyme, Ehrlichia, Anaplasmosis. Most cats and dogs will have a house-training accident in the initial days in their new home and we cannot guarantee any pet is housebroken or crate trained.

I can be a bit shy at first, but once I get to know you, I'll be your best friend. I'm known to be quite friendly and I get along well with dogs, kids, and cats alike. I am a medium energy guy, so I enjoy a good balance of playtime and relaxation. Plus I'm house trained, which is a bonus! I especially like rural living, it's peaceful and there's plenty of space for me to explore. While my needs are being met now, I still dream of having a family to call my own. If you're looking for a sweet, friendly, and curious companion, I could be the perfect fit for you! Why don’t you fill out an application today and let’s have a meet and greet. I can't wait to find my forever family!Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. K-9 Lifesavers strongly recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and the new family.    Adoption fees cover basic vetting, rabies (if puppy is old enough), distemper/parvo vaccinations, deworming, monthly heartworm prevention while in our care (if old enough), monthly flea/tick prevention while in our care, and transport costs. K-9 Lifesavers will also cover the cost of spay/neuter at our partner vet at 6 months of age or reimburse adopter for up to the amount of our partner vet cost should you choose to spay/neuter at your own vet. Foster Program:    Foster homes provide for the temporary care of a rescue until the dog is placed into a loving, forever home.  For more information on becoming a foster parent, and our Foster Program, visit http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/foster/ or email our Foster Coordinator at foster@k-9lifesavers.orgSPONSOR ME! Help Save Lives!    Make a tax-deductible donation today and help save a life. Story
Inca is looking for their forever home! WHAT MY FOSTER SAYS ABOUT ME: There is nothing Inca loves more than humans and thrives on human connection - she will greet everyone with her wagging tail and endearing looks. A true social butterfly, Inca is a favorite during walks, where she gladly accepts all the pets and praises showered upon her. She loves to spend her days going on long walks in the park, playing tug-of-war, looking out the window, and snoozing at home. She is an independent girl and will do well alone - some quality time outdoors with her people is all she needs to keep her happy. While Inca is generally great on her walks, she is learning to 'look at me' to help with her fear of big trucks. She has fairly good recall (though sometimes she cannot resist reaching the nearest human for pets) and is starting to get comfortable with being off leash outside so she can do what she loves the most - run free and play tag with her human in the park. Inca has been known to do fairly well in a crate in the past, but she is the best-behaved girl when left on her own, and will easily relax in her favorite spots at home. Though she loves to say hello and play with most dogs she meets, she is still learning to share and can get easily overwhelmed, and may be best suited as the only dog at home. Inca has spent her time in different homes, but she is a resilient girl - she is looking for a patient, forever home with people who can understand her sensitivities and give her the comfort she is craving for. ATTRIBUTES: Inca should not be placed in a home with children, but does well with children outside of the home. -------------- Laila's Legacy Animal Rescue does not guarantee that any dog is housebroken nor crate trained. We strive to provide accurate information on all of our animals however, we are unable to guarantee an animal's breed, size, health, behavior, temperament, or any other conditions. Our adoption fees are not inclusive of all vetting / medical care, food, supplies and/or training costs. Since we rely on donations to compensate for those deficits we are unable to reduce or refund this fee. TO ADOPT OR FOSTER: Please apply on our website at www.lailaslegacyanimalrescue.org or email info@lailaslegacyanimalrescue.org if you have questions! TO DONATE: Please consider making a donation on our website at www.lailaslegacyanimalrescue.org so that Laila's Legacy can continue to provide lifesaving medical treatment and training.

Story
Molly is our 3-legged go-getter! Don’t let her 3 legs fool you, this girl is full of energy and life. She is always on the go and loves to be active. Fantastic movement. Sometimes you see her, and sometimes you don’t. Molly has been owned but unfortunately her owners can no longer care for her. As a teenager, she got out of the house and was hit by a car. The owners rushed her to the vet, but the leg was unable to saved. You’d never know she only had 3 legs the way she moves! Molly is quite short, a beagle-like body but is ‘stout’. She weighs about 38 lbs and was born December 12, 2022 (so right under 2 years old). She has 1 blue eye and 1 amber eye – don’t worry, she has great vision. When she looks at you her eyes just glisten, they’re gorgeous. Molly is house trained, and crate trained. This sweet girl LOVES other dogs and would do fantastic in a home with them as she loves to run around and play. If no other dogs in the home, we strongly suggest somebody that is more active and that enjoys going on adventures, hikes or just long walks around the neighborhood. She is a people pleaser and is very loyal. She will follow you around and be your shadow, right by your side. She knows commands and learns quickly to new ones. Molly is VERY food and treat motivated and will do anything for a yummy treat. In her previous home she was around children, and she loved them! The kids always played with her, and they tired each other out. Molly is leash trained. An ideal home for Molly would be one that is more active and wants a dog that can join in that activity. She loves everyone she meets, she’s always been a house dog, and she is all around just a super playful, super loving, and a super best friend for the perfect family/person. Molly is spayed, heart worm negative, current on vaccinations, current on preventions, microchipped and will have a health certificate giving her a clean bill of health from a veterinarian. You can apply to adopt Molly at www.pawsitive-impact-animal-rescue.org

Needs experienced adopter, House-trained, Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
Granby is a handsome 8-year-old Foxhound/Beagle mix. He has had a lot of change in his life and is seeking new accommodations. First, his human died and then his best buddy who was a cat died. He finds himself a little out of sorts with folks who are keeping him safe but not dog people. He is house trained and walks well on leash. He is tentative about strangers coming to the house and needs to work on proper introductions or put in another room or crate if guests are over. Granby has 5 personal trainer sessions with a trainer who knows him that will transfer to his adopter (Falls Church, VA area, willing to travel in DMV area). His ideal home is a quiet one without children and lots of people coming and going. We are seeking an adopter who has Fox Hound or dog experience who knows how to show leadership to a pup. He weighs 70 pounds and is full grown. Adoption fee is waived, but approval process is not. Meet and greets are by appointment only with approved applicants. If you are interested in fostering to adopt, please fill out the online application: https://www.lastchanceanimalrescue.org/adoption-request-form/ If you have been approved within the past 6 months and are interested in Granby, please reply to your approval email.
