Story
Male, 2 years old, 50 lbs Flapjack is a happy, goofy hound who lost a leg to an illegal trap that he stumbled upon. Now he is exploring the world as a tripawd, but he still has the same fun attitude towards life. Can you give this adorable amputee a second chance at a loving home? Flapjack is new to the rescue. We will add more information as we get to know the dog better. Flapjack was sponsored in honor of all of the hound dogs that didn't get a second chance. If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat, we require an adoption application. If the animal has "HAS APPLICATION" listed, they are still available to receive additional applications but also may be in the process of being adopted soon. We do not have a shelter. CDCK has a thorough adoption process to find the best possible fit for each of our dogs and cats (we do not operate under a first-come, first-served model). Upon accepting a new cat or dog into the organization, we provide a basic vet visit that includes necessary vaccinations, disease screenings, deworming, microchips, and spay/neuter for dogs six months and older. We do not provide a comprehensive medical exam before adoption. As a result, sickness, injury, and disability may exist unbeknownst to CDCK. City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is not responsible for payment of any vet care, including known and unknown medical conditions once a cat or dog is adopted from us. Dog specific: Rabies, DHPP,Lepto and Bordetella vaccines. They are tested for HW, Lyme, Ehrlichia, Anaplasmosis. Most cats and dogs will have a house-training accident in the initial days in their new home and we cannot guarantee any pet is housebroken or crate trained.

Story
Inca is looking for their forever home! WHAT MY FOSTER SAYS ABOUT ME: There is nothing Inca loves more than humans and thrives on human connection - she will greet everyone with her wagging tail and endearing looks. A true social butterfly, Inca is a favorite during walks, where she gladly accepts all the pets and praises showered upon her. She loves to spend her days going on long walks in the park, playing tug-of-war, looking out the window, and snoozing at home. She is an independent girl and will do well alone - some quality time outdoors with her people is all she needs to keep her happy. While Inca is generally great on her walks, she is learning to 'look at me' to help with her fear of big trucks. She has fairly good recall (though sometimes she cannot resist reaching the nearest human for pets) and is starting to get comfortable with being off leash outside so she can do what she loves the most - run free and play tag with her human in the park. Inca has been known to do fairly well in a crate in the past, but she is the best-behaved girl when left on her own, and will easily relax in her favorite spots at home. Though she loves to say hello and play with most dogs she meets, she is still learning to share and can get easily overwhelmed, and may be best suited as the only dog at home. Inca has spent her time in different homes, but she is a resilient girl - she is looking for a patient, forever home with people who can understand her sensitivities and give her the comfort she is craving for. ATTRIBUTES: Inca should not be placed in a home with children, but does well with children outside of the home. -------------- Laila's Legacy Animal Rescue does not guarantee that any dog is housebroken nor crate trained. We strive to provide accurate information on all of our animals however, we are unable to guarantee an animal's breed, size, health, behavior, temperament, or any other conditions. TO ADOPT OR FOSTER: Please apply on our website at www.lailaslegacyanimalrescue.org or email info@lailaslegacyanimalrescue.org if you have questions! TO DONATE: Please consider making a donation on our website at www.lailaslegacyanimalrescue.org so that Laila's Legacy can continue to provide lifesaving medical treatment and training.

I will be your new best friend! I like nothing more than to sit by your side or even between your legs all the time. I obey instantly because I want to please you. All your belongings are safe with me -- I do not chew anything, not even toys. I am OK with being alone for a couple hours, but please don't leave me all day. I don't bark either, so life with me is very peaceful. I am wary of strangers and want to protect you, so proper introductions are very important. Then I am a lovebug! I do enjoy going outside, either on a walk or exploring my yard for strange smells. When I see you pick up the leash, I get so excited that I can hardly sit still! But because I am a hunting breed, it is a good idea to make sure that no little wildlife is in my yard when I am released. A comfortable bed, good food, and someone to love all day is all I ask! My Profile: Age: 6 years Weight: 67 lbs Good with kids: Yes Good with dogs: Some Good with cats: Unknown but doubtful Fenced yard: Yes Suitable for townhouse and/or apartment: No House trained: Yes. Crate trained: Unknown but not necessary Barks when left alone: No Chews inappropriate items: No Training: Sit, stop, come Activity level: Medium Meet Me If you are interested in Spartacus, consider letting us know by filling out a (no-obligation) adoption application at pgspca.org. Please consult our Adoption FAQ before contacting us. Please check the adoption-show-attendees page to see if Spartacus will be attending the next adoption show. NOTE: We are an all volunteer group and do not operate a shelter. All of our animals are in foster homes. We are unable to place our animals outside of the Baltimore/DC area.

Story
Willow was rescued from hurricane Irma. She was born July 8, 2017 and is the runt of her litter. All her brothers and sisters are twice the size. She is a sweet girl, but she hasn’t been happy with a child in the house. Unfortunately our toddler was injured by a nip and we’ve made the hard decision to rehome her. Throughout her life she has been hesitant around young children. She has a history of nipping/injuring adults as well, mostly men she is unfamiliar with. She is slightly overweight and has slowed down this past year, with what the vet believes to be a (treatable) thyroid issue. Willow is incredibly sweet and loyal and loves to cuddle on the couch. She would be an amazing addition to a family that is right for her. For the safety of Willow and others, her owners should be child-free, mindful of her bite history, and willing to treat her endocrine condition. We realize this may be a unicorn situation, and appreciate you spreading the word for our girl.

Story
Granby is a handsome 8-year-old Foxhound/Beagle mix. He has had a lot of change in his life and is seeking new accommodations. First, his human died and then his best buddy who was a cat died. He finds himself a little out of sorts with folks who are keeping him safe but not dog people. He is house trained and walks well on leash. He is tentative about strangers coming to the house and needs to work on proper introductions or put in another room or crate if guests are over. Granby has 5 personal trainer sessions with a trainer who knows him that will transfer to his adopter (Falls Church, VA area, willing to travel in DMV area). His ideal home is a quiet one without children and lots of people coming and going. We are seeking an adopter who has Fox Hound or dog experience who knows how to show leadership to a pup. He weighs 70 pounds and is full grown. Adoption fee is waived, but approval process is not. Meet and greets are by appointment only with approved applicants. If you are interested in fostering to adopt, please fill out the online application: https://www.lastchanceanimalrescue.org/adoption-request-form/ If you have been approved within the past 6 months and are interested in Granby, please reply to your approval email. Story
Major's been doing great in his foster home! He knows to potty outside and hasn’t had any accidents in the house, just some intentional marking which will dissipate after his neuter. Major is VERY playful. He loves to play with the 10 month old chihuahua puppy in the house. His foster mom has even taken him to the park with her friend's Bernese Mountain dogs and he got along great with them too. There have been no issues with the cats. He is a chewer but if you trade him a toy he is content gnawing on that. He’s a sweet boy and likes attention, but also entertains himself laying on the couch or playing with toys. Major is a sweet, affectionate, friendly, silly hound. If you're looking for a happy, joyful boy, Major may just be your perfect jam.

Story
I found Lucia on February 11th, 2021 in a house under construction, next to a propane tank heater, trying to stay warm. It had snowed the night before and she was absolutely muddy and wet. The vet estimated her to be 10 years old while another estimated her to be 8. I think she's younger. The vet also said she had injuries to both her front legs where they were fractured and repaired on their own causing a bow to both. I decided to keep her then. Unfortunately I am not in the best place to have her anymore. There's a lot more I'd like to say but I'm limited with characters. She's super sweet. Loves food. Can be a little jumpy with noises. Loves walks. And loves attention! Seriously, if you could pet her all day she would let you! I would love to see her got to her forever home that will provide her with the love and attention she deserves.

Story
We saw sweet Ginny on Facebook. She was a stray that ended up in a high kill shelter in Virginia. Shortly after she arrived she gave birth to 4 puppies. The shelter had no idea that she was pregnant because she was nothing but skin and bones. We knew we somehow had to get her here to Tennessee so we put our thinking caps on and a lot of wonderful volunteers drove her to our pick up spot in southern VA where our regular transporter picked her and the babies up on his way back to Nashville. We met them in Nashville at 1 AM and drove the family 100 miles back to the rescue. We knew Ginny was young, possibly still a pup herself and our vet confirmed that she was only 11 months at the time of the puppy's birth. Her pups have all been adopted and now it's Ginny's turn! Walker Hounds are very high energy dogs and can be a little stubborn so make sure you research the breed before you make the choice to adopt. We insist on a fenced yard for her so she can have room to free run and enjoy the rest of her life. These dogs are the number one dumped off breed as their owners will desert them if they don't hunt the way they want them too! We have several of them here at the rescue for that very reason. They are fun loving couch potatoes and will bring you many years of joy and happiness! PLEASE NOTE THAT WE ARE LOCATED IN TENNESSEE AND YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO MEET OUR PETS PRIOR TO ADOPTION! ADOPTION FEE $650

Story
My name is Winnie and I am a loving 7 year old, 50 pound girl that is a beautiful Hound breed called a Tree Walker.   I was found as a stray in the middle of a rural highway and I am such a soft and gentle girl that loves to lay around and sleep and just be an easy couch potato friend. I am housebroken, love a good tummy rub, pretty nice to all other dogs that I meet and I would be a great companion to a senior, retired person or couple who are looking for an easy dog to love.  I am healthy and spayed and microchipped and I am told that I am pretty, too.  Would you like to have a sweet companion for the next 7-8 years.  I will be happy to make your life so much more special if you invite me home.  Critter Cavalry Rescue is ready to help you adopt me if you write to them at ccrnewengland@gmail.com PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.April 23, 2024, 4:30 pm
