Story
-ESTIMATE WEIGHT FULL GROWN: 80-100 lbs -ESTIMATED AGE: DOB: 2/6/26 -KNOWN WITH DOGS: Excellent. Kobe adores other dogs of all ages and sizes and loves to play. -KNOWN WITH CATS: Yes. Kobe is curious about cats and would love to play with them. He is doing very well learning to read and respect the resident cat’s boundaries. -KNOWN WITH KIDS: Excellent. Kobe loves kids of all ages and has lived happily with children. -KNOWN CUES: Kobe is smart, treat-motivated, and learning quickly. He is currently working on basic manners, leash skills, and settling. Like any six-month-old puppy, continued training will be important—especially since he’s going to be a big boy! -KNOWN HOUSEBREAKING AND/OR CRATING: Kobe is mostly housebroken, although he still has an occasional puppy accident. He does great in his crate and sleeps comfortably in it overnight. During the day, he may complain for a minute if he can hear people elsewhere in the house, but he settles quickly. -KNOWN LIKES: Cuddles, other dogs, people, kids, walks, sniffing, playing, treats, and being wherever his humans are. -KNOWN DISLIKES: Nothing significant identified. He can initially be a little cautious with unfamiliar people but warms up quickly. ABOUT THIS ANIMAL: Kobe (formerly Baldur) came into foster care with his mama, Bindi, and littermates when he was just a couple of days old. He was adopted as a puppy and recently returned to our care through no fault of his own. Now six months old and nearly 60 pounds, he’s grown from the fluffy little puppy we knew into one very big, very lovable goofball. His DNA shows he is primarily Rottweiler and American Foxhound, and he will be a large dog when fully grown. Notes from the foster: Kobe is a big, lovable goofball who is still very much a six-month-old puppy and has absolutely no idea how big he is! At nearly 60 pounds (and still growing), he’s playful, curious, smart, affectionate, and an absolute cuddle bug. He loves people, is wonderful with kids, and adores other dogs of all ages and sizes. He’s curious about the resident cat and would really like him to be a playmate, but he’s doing well learning to respect boundaries. Kobe can be a little cautious when first meeting someone new, but he warms up quickly. Kobe is mostly housebroken and sleeps beautifully in his crate at night. He may protest briefly if crated during the day while he can still hear his people, but settles down. He loves walks, sniffing, playing, toys, treats, and being wherever his humans are. He can also be a little mouthy when excited or playing—typical puppy behavior that we’re working on redirecting to toys. Kobe is a very big puppy with an equally big heart. He’ll do best with a family ready to continue his training, give him plenty of opportunities to play and explore, and appreciate the occasional reminder that nearly 60 pounds is probably too big to be a lap dog. Kobe, however, strongly disagrees. ❤️ If you are interested in adopting this dog, please fill out our dog adoption questionnaire and e-mail any questions to: Anne at annehtar@gmail.com PLEASE VISIT THIS WEBSITE TO FIND THE ADOPTION QUESTIONNAIRE: http://www.homewardtrails.org/adopt-a-pet/adoption-forms/ HOW TO MEET THIS ANIMAL: Fill out the application and we will follow up with you! Story
-ESTIMATE WEIGHT FULL GROWN: 50-65 lbs -ESTIMATED AGE: DOB: 2/6/26 -KNOWN WITH DOGS: Puppies love to play with other dogs - doing very well with resident dogs. -KNOWN WITH CATS: appropriately curious of the resident cat. Puppies usually adapt well to dog- friendly cats -KNOWN WITH KIDS: puppies love kids of all ages -KNOWN CUES: none yet -KNOWN HOUSEBREAKING AND/OR CRATING: too young but have started working on it. -KNOWN LIKES: Puppy cuddles and playtime -KNOWN DISLIKES: ABOUT THIS ANIMAL: 8 puppies born in our care to a beautiful brindle coat mom in early February. Notes from the foster: Rune is the kind of puppy who always seems to be asking, “What’s next?” Curious, playful, and full of personality, he loves exploring his surroundings, discovering new toys, and jumping right into playtime with his siblings. He has that natural sense of adventure—always ready to check out what’s on the other side of the door, around the corner, or just out of reach. But it’s not all go-go-go. Rune balances his curiosity with a genuinely sweet and affectionate nature. He enjoys attention, connects easily with people, and brings a joyful, upbeat energy wherever he goes. It’s no surprise he was one of the first to embrace the litter’s doggie door discovery—Rune doesn’t just notice opportunities… he goes for them. He’s currently living with other dogs (and has been exposed to cats) and is doing well, showing the typical adaptability you’d expect from a young puppy. Story
Rescued from an abandoned firehouse 7 years ago, Bella has been a loving and energetic friend ever since. She’s the kind of dog who loves to cuddle and snuggle, and she’s always ready for a long walk or a game of catch. Bella is a spirited girl who thrives on activity and companionship. She can be a little skittish at times, so she may do best in a household without young kids or other dogs. She’s also an excellent guard dog and will happily watch over her family. If you’re looking for a loyal protector and loving friend, Bella might be the perfect match for you! Looking for a special someone to give Bella her forever home—could that be you?

Story
Brother to Shades, Flip Flop is a happy, playful guy who seems to approach every day like it’s the best day ever. He prances around, keeps his foster family laughing, and has plenty of love to give. At bedtime, Flip Flop is great about heading into his crate all by himself, and he even seems to consider it his safe place during thunderstorms. When he’s relaxing outside, he enjoys alternating between soaking up the sun and finding a nice shady spot for a nap. Flip Flop also has an impressive deep bark, which he happily contributes when the other dogs decide the delivery driver needs a proper announcement. 😂 At mealtime, Flip Flop can be a bit of a leisurely eater—sometimes dinner takes two sessions because there are simply too many interesting things going on to stop and finish eating! He loves to play and enjoys a good round of roughhousing, so his canine playmates should be sturdy and appreciate an enthusiastic play style. And when playtime is over? Flip Flop is an expert snuggler. He loves leaning into his people for hugs and affection. If you’re looking for a fun-loving, affectionate dog who will bring plenty of laughs, cuddles, and personality into your home, Flip Flop may be your guy We did a DNA test on one of the puppies in Flip Flop's litter and here are the results: 64.2% American Foxhound; 29.4% Treeing Walker Coonhound; and 6.4% Pointer.

Story
Brother to Flip Flop, Shades is a sweet, affectionate boy who brings joy wherever he goes. He is constantly wagging his tail, looking for affection, and eager to please. One of his favorite ways to show his love is by standing on his hind legs to give “hugs.” Shades has settled beautifully into life in a home and appears to be housebroken, with no accidents in over a month. He gets along very well with his foster siblings and seems to have just the right amount of energy to enjoy both older and younger dogs. He has also been introduced to doggie daycare at the local Dogtopia, where he passed his evaluation with flying colors. Everyone there agrees that Shades is a very good boy! Shades is food motivated and loves showing off his SIT. Most of all, he is a happy, loving dog who enjoys being around people and other dogs. He has come a long way in learning the comforts of life indoors and is ready to find a forever family of his own. We did a DNA test on one of the puppies, and here are the results: 64.2% American Foxhound; 29.4% Treeing Walker Coonhound; and 6.4% Pointer. If you’re looking for an affectionate companion with a constantly wagging tail and plenty of hugs to give, Shades may be the dog for you!

Meet Jelly! She is extremely affectionate, present, smart, food-motivated, and eager to learn! She is fine being left in her space during the day as long as she has appropriate things to chew, but she would really prefer to be with YOU. Jelly is so loving with her humans and is looking for a home where she can be the only pet and won't need to compete for resources or affection.   Please reach out if you are looking for a sweet shadow to follow you around the house and be your best friend! Adoption Day: September 5th at PetSmart Tysons Corner from 10:00–11:00 AM, an approved adopter must be present to adopt.
