Story
** I am currently being housed at our New York Avenue location. Come meet me at 1201 New York Avenue NE, every day from 12pm-7pm. Please arrive no later than 6:30 p.m. to allow ample time to interact with adoptable dogs. Or visit humanerescuealliance.org/how-to-adopt to learn more. Sugar is just a classic hound dog with adorable floppy ears and a nose that won't quit. She is also so friendly and sweet. She is also a real chowhound and she LOVES to eat. Sugar is just a wonderful dog. She and her furry canine brother were recently surrendered to the shelter as their owner could not keep them anymore. Naturally, they were initially bashful, but they quickly realized that they were safe and loved. Sugar would now love to find a home where she can go on LOTS of long, slow paced sniffy walks. True to her breed- once that nose hits the ground a whole lotta sniffing will happen. Sugar will make a lovely family pet and she hopes to meet you soon.

Please contact Melissa A Aten (melissaa@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.sweet young pup seeking fresh start and love! COCOA NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!! Name:  Cocoa         Best Guess for Breed:  Foxhound terrier and beagle mix Best Guess for Age:  8 months as of 9/25/23       SEX:  Female   Approximate Weight:  30 lbs as of 8/24/23; still has a bit more to grow!   Gets Along With:   Other dogs! Hasn't been seen with kids or cats but can be tested.    Currently Living at:  Puerto Rico shelter; needs a foster or forever home in the DC area to get on a freedom flight up here!   Cocoa is Looking For:  This sweetie is one of a litter of four (Venti, Coffee, Mocha, and Cocoa) born to their mama Prada. They grew up together in a Puerto Rico shelter and now they're eager to come to the DC area and split up to get their own forever homes! You can imagine how different the smells in this area will be from Puerto Rico! Cocoa is oh so eager to have her own humans to trot alongside, checking out all those smells; for romps in parks; and all the adventures her new family can dream up! She'd also like to make pup and people pals along the way, and attend dog school to show how super smart she is.  Most of all, though, she wants to know she's safe and loved for all her days - and to have her own humans to bestow all those adoring gazes and tail wags upon. What do you say? Does Cocoa sound like just the right warm drink for you, especially headed into those cooler fall days? Story
Inca is looking for their forever home! WHAT MY FOSTER SAYS ABOUT ME: There is nothing Inca loves more than humans and thrives on human connection - she will greet everyone with her wagging tail and endearing looks. A true social butterfly, Inca is a favorite during walks, where she gladly accepts all the pets and praises showered upon her. She loves to spend her days going on long walks in the park, playing tug-of-war, looking out the window, and snoozing at home. She is an independent girl and will do well alone - some quality time outdoors with her people is all she needs to keep her happy. While Inca is generally great on her walks, she is learning to 'look at me' to help with her fear of big trucks. She has fairly good recall (though sometimes she cannot resist reaching the nearest human for pets) and is starting to get comfortable with being off leash outside so she can do what she loves the most - run free and play tag with her human in the park. Inca has been known to do fairly well in a crate in the past, but she is the best-behaved girl when left on her own, and will easily relax in her favorite spots at home. Though she loves to say hello and play with most dogs she meets, she is still learning to share and can get easily overwhelmed, and may be best suited as the only dog at home. Inca has spent her time in different homes, but she is a resilient girl - she is looking for a patient, forever home with people who can understand her sensitivities and give her the comfort she is craving for. ATTRIBUTES: Inca should not be placed in a home with children, but does well with children outside of the home. -------------- Laila's Legacy Animal Rescue does not guarantee that any dog is housebroken nor crate trained. We strive to provide accurate information on all of our animals however, we are unable to guarantee an animal's breed, size, health, behavior, temperament, or any other conditions. TO ADOPT OR FOSTER: Please apply on our website at www.lailaslegacyanimalrescue.org or email info@lailaslegacyanimalrescue.org if you have questions! TO DONATE: Please consider making a donation on our website at www.lailaslegacyanimalrescue.org so that Laila's Legacy can continue to provide lifesaving medical treatment and training.

Story
I will be your new best friend! I like nothing more than to sit by your side or even between your legs all the time. I obey instantly because I want to please you. All your belongings are safe with me -- I do not chew anything, not even toys. I am OK with being along for a couple hours, but please don't leave me all day. I don't bark either, so life with me is very peaceful. I am wary of strangers and want to protect you, so proper introductions are very important. Then I am a lovebug! I do enjoy going outside, either on a walk or exploring my yard for strange smells. When I see you pick up the leash, I get so excited that I can hardly sit still! But because I am a hunting breed, it is a good idea to make sure that no little wildlife is in my yard when I am released. A comfortable bed, good food, and someone to love all day is all I ask! My Profile: Age: 6 years Weight: 67 lbs Good with kids: Yes Good with dogs: Some Good with cats: Unknown but doubtful Fenced yard: Yes Suitable for townhouse and/or apartment: No House trained: Yes. Crate trained: Unknown but not necessary Barks when left alone: No Chews inappropriate items: No Training: Sit, stop, come Activity level: Medium Meet Me If you are interested in Spartacus, consider letting us know by filling out a (no-obligation) adoption application at pgspca.org. Please consult our Adoption FAQ before contacting us. Please check the adoption-show-attendees page to see if Spartacus will be attending the next adoption show. NOTE: We are an all volunteer group and do not operate a shelter. All of our animals are in foster homes. We are unable to place our animals outside of the Baltimore/DC area.

Story
Willow was rescued from hurricane Irma. She was born July 8, 2017 and is the runt of her litter. All her brothers and sisters are twice the size. She is a sweet girl, but we have a 15 month old and she hasn’t been very happy and had a minor nipping incident a few weeks ago while both were playing with a stuffed animal. We would like to find her a good home.
