Story
Meet Calvin🩵 Calvin's tale began with a rescue from a slaughterhouse as a young pup. Initially staying at Korean City Shelter, Calvin and his siblings narrowly escaped euthanasia a year later at Adogs. Calvin awaits an adoptive or lifelong family to envelop him in warmth and love. 🙏🏻 *Energy Level (1~10): Lv. 5 *Social Relationships: Gets along well with shelter dog friends. Suggests a preference for a home where he can be the only child due to a temperamental attitude toward more aggressive friends. *Temperament: Timid with a touch, may exhibit a pupil earthquake. Rapid improvement is expected in a loving environment. *Training: Responds well to "house," showcasing intelligence. Calvin, with his pricked ears and wistful eyes, is ready to be embraced by a caring family. Consider bringing Calvin into your home, providing the love and security he deserves. 🐾

Story
Meet Brown🩵 Brown, a survivor rescued as a young pup from a slaughterhouse, found refuge at Korean City Shelter. A year later, he and his siblings, initially on the euthanasia list, were saved at Adogs. *Social Relationships: Enjoys good camaraderie with his dog friends at the center, especially active play with his peer, Calvin. *Stranger Interaction: Barks at strangers initially but quickly calms down if given time to smell and assess. *Affection Style: Still getting used to active touching, prefers approaching slowly, and enjoys gentle interaction. 😊 *Ideal Home: Would thrive in a multi-dog family, especially with a friend like Calvin. However, he'd also do well as the only dog, receiving lots of individual love!

Story
Meet Paisley! -PLEASE READ MEDICAL AT END OF BIO- This beautiful french bulldog is 10 months to a year old and weighs 28 pounds. We do not expect her to get any bigger than she is now! Paisley is as sweet as can be and will use the doggy door when she needs to go potty. She has been around children and dogs of all ages and size and has done great around them! Paisley was brought to us after being hit by a car and had a broken pelvis and leg. She had pins placed in her leg successfully and amputation was avoided. She was placed on strict crate rest for a few months to hopefully allow her pelvis to heal naturally. Presley has recovered well but our vet has advised us that it is possible she may need a surgery on her hips at any point in the future, so it is essential a vet be established directly upon adoption. Interested in becoming a forever home for Presley? Fill out our online adoption application: http://www.friendswithfourpaws.org/adoption-form.html This is the first step in our process, and we don't go any further without an application. Find more adoptable pets, news and information on Instagram @friendswithfourpaws or our Facebook page Friends with Four Paws . We put a lot of time and energy into processing our adoptions to find our babies the best fit home for them and you. Please do not submit an application if you are not serious about adopting Presley. We are so excited to work with you to find you a new forever friend, and Presley the perfect forever home, and appreciate you working with us. Our adoption fee is $525. This includes their spay/neuter surgery, full (age appropriate) vaccinations, microchip insertion and registration, deworming, heartworm testing and prevention, flea and tick prevention and travel expenses. All of our dogs are rescued from local shelters and the general public. Each dog is then placed in a foster home where he/she is kept for quarantine, to ensure if the dog gets sick it can receive proper treatment. We have foster homes in the NJ/NY area waiting to receive their fosters. Once an animal has received an application or there's an adopter interested, we make arrangements for transport. If a dog is already in foster care in NYC/NJ, an adopter will be put in touch with the foster home AFTER an application is being processed. Thank you in advance for your patience with our process and for making adoption YOUR option!

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Tulip (GA) is a spayed female French Bulldog estimated to be 4 years old at the time of intake in March 2024. Tulip is up to date on core vaccinations and is microchipped. She is good with people and other dogs. We found this beautiful brindle girl in a shelter suffering from a vaginal prolapse. We rushed Tulip to our veterinary partner where she is now receiving all the medical care she requires to patch her up. Tulip is funny, sweet and playful. We would like to have the perfect home waiting for Tulip where she can bloom into a fantastic 4-legged companion. If that sounds like your home, please apply online to adopt Tulip (GA) at www.rescuedogsrocknyc.org.  Given technical constraints on this database, this pet's location may not be as listed here. We can, however, provide transport support for pets in foster at a considerable distance from the adopter.          . Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 16, 2024, 10:07 am

Story
Benoit (born: 12/12/2022), weighs 23 pounds and is a French Bulldog who knows how to sit, loves to run and play with the other dogs, has fun with his toys and enjoys having a treat. Born with a congenital eye issue, Benoit had to have surgery to remove his right eye when he was just 10 weeks old and he continues to have follow-ups with an ophthalmologist for his left eye. Benoit also developed a head tilt and the neurologist has diagnosed him with Hydrocephalus and the doctor prescribed Omeprazole – which is a medication he will have to take for life. Since Benoit is still a puppy, the dose for this medication will need to be adjusted as he gains weight. Benoit is also currently on antibiotics for approximately 3 – 4 months – the antibiotics were started 11/11/2023 and after another visit with the Neurologist again on 11/26/2023 it was confirmed he will continue. Benoit is also being tapered from a steroid that the neurologist put him on when his head tilt returned post neuter and nares surgery. It is a long taper of six months and began on 10/1/2023. The head tilt corrected itself for a while but has returned. The doctor believes it is an inner ear infection. He is also due for another revisit with the ophthalmologist for an updated evaluation of the one eye he has. UPDATE 2/11/2024: Benoit has finished his course of antibiotics and he no longer has an obvious head tilt. At his last visit with the neurologist on 1/13/2024, the doctor let us know that in addition to the Omeprazole that Benoit will have to be on a low dose of steroid for life. At his last visit with the ophthalmologist on 1/4/2024, the doctor let us know that Benoit should have annual visits for his eye and that if anything seems wrong with his eye at any time, not to wait and to have it checked out right away, otherwise he could lose the one eye he has. UPDATE 3/17/2024: Benoit had Neurolgy Consult/Follow-Up with his neurologist *per the neurologist, Benoit likely has OMI (Otitis Media/Interna) with exacerbation of underlying congenital malformations *Continue Simplicef 100mg sid for total of 6 months *Continue Prednisone 2.5mg eod long-term *Continue Omeprazole sid long-term *recheck with Neurologist 5 months post starting Simplicef UPDATE 3/28/2024: with Internal Medicine and Ophthalmologist – enucleation site has oozing and the Ophthalmologist says that it can take up to and over a year to completely heal. Per the culture of the site, Internal Medicine prescribed Zenoquin (resistant to other antibiotics for this issue) for at least 2 weeks – will recheck then to see if medication needs to be given for longer. Benoit is a complicated medical case and he will need to see a neurologist and an ophthalmologist for the rest of his life. We really appreciate that you want to give a shelter animal a home. The Humane Society of New York was founded in 1904. The Vladimir Horowitz/Wanda Toscanini Horowitz Adoption Center is a no-kill shelter. Our on-site clinic and staff of skilled Veterinarians looks after the health and well-being of every animal here. We also have a great adoption matchmaking team who will gladly take your profile and match you or your pet with just the right cat or dog companion. We start the process once you have submitted an application to us. Our one and only location is: 306 East 59th Street (between 1st & 2nd Avenue) in Manhattan. If you'd like to sponsor Benoit, please email amk.hsny@verizon.net. Story
ZERO - 2.9 Years Old, 26lbs, Frenchton/Froston, Neutered Please read everything below and submit an adoption application at socialteesnyc.org if this pup seems like a good fit for your family. :) Their Foster Parent Says:  "After some time with Zero, you will automatically be in love! He is the sweetest lover boy and makes friends with everyone he meets. He was immediately comfortable with my two dogs, and he is friendly and polite to anyone who walks into my home. He definitely has a very good appetite and enjoys being outside and going for walks. He walks well on his leash, and does not pull too much. I would keep the walks to 15 minutes or less because he does get tired easily. He loves playing with toys and sometimes we have to remind him that it’s bedtime because he can play all night. At night he will happily sleep in a bed. Zero Does not like the rain and he is very hesitant to go outside when it is raining but with some gentle encouragement he will follow you out. He also does not seem to like wearing dog clothes, but we are working on it lol. He will greet you happily when you walk into any room." Level of dog ownership experience needed: INTERMEDIATE: This dog will need significant structure and plenty of daily exercise, training, and mental stimulation – 30 consecutive minutes of movement in the morning plus potty break walks and brain games throughout the day. The adopter must have relevant primary care experience with a similar breed, temperament, and/or energy level. (Primary care experience includes ownership, fostering, or dog sitting as an adult, not a dog you grew up with.) PLEASE NOTE: Adopter should be ready to take on all of the health issues that this breed is known for. Zero does suffer from skin issues that he is being treated for by a vet.  Energy Level: MEDIUM to LOWER: Needs a daily 30 minute walk or window of quick paced exercise (minimum) in addition to potty break strolls (10min each). Also needs significant socializing opportunities outside the home and mental stimulation at home like tricks training practice, chew items, and puzzle toys. (This is regardless of dog size – many small breeds were designed for lots of activity and will exhibit unwanted behavior when they’re understimulated.)  Cuddle bug level:  Medium - - Loves to snuggle but happy to be in his own space too Potty trained? Yes - - Fully potty trained Comfy with strangers? Yes - - Very friendly with new people  Comfortable with children? (ALWAYS requires adult supervision) Yes - - Okay for a home with respectful kids. Zero's previous family had children in it.  Social with other dogs? Yes - - Incredible with other dogs! In a home with two dogs and is super happy!  Respectful of other small animals? (cats, pocket pets, etc.) Yes - - We think that zero would be okay in a home with a cat  Mouthy behavior: Past this stage in his life - - Very respectful with his mouth  Leash manners: Old Pro – Seems like a dog that has been on leash before. Doesn’t pull hard or need much direction.  Okay in the city? Yes - - Zero is okay to live in the city. He is not bothered by it at all.  Jumping to say hi? Medium – Jumps up only on people the dog knows when really excited. Stops with correction. Separation anxiety? Nope - fine being left home alone  Crate trained? Not at all – Don’t even have one, I’ve puppy proofed and we free range.  Haven't used one Medical status: Currently recovering from skin issues: has some patches of missing fur. Very common for the breed. His previous owners did not take care of it correctly so he is currently on medicated baths, cytopoint and a food trial (is only allowed to eat a prescription food). Healthy as far as we know. Up to date on their DHPP, Bordetella, and Rabies vaccines; heartworm negative; spayed/neutered; microchipped; treated with dewormer upon intake  How this dog ended up with Social Tees: Zero is a local surrender in NYC. His family surrendered him to us after they no longer had time for him. He's an incredible dog! We're very happy to have him in our care.  PLEASE NOTE: We cannot guarantee any breed mix, exact age, or full grown size (if the dog is under a year old). We do our best with very educated guesses though!  This animal is not at the Social Tees office, all are in foster homes. LEARN MORE ABOUT US: socialteesnyc.org and Instagram @socialteesnyc PLEASE NOTE: This animal is not at the Social Tees office — all of our dogs and cats are in foster homes while they wait to find their forever families. :) If you’d like to apply to adopt this pet, please complete an adoption application at socialteesnyc.org. Because we are a small team and receive hundreds of applications each week, we are unable to respond to every application and every inquiry email, but we do our best. Please have patience! If your application is approved, you will for sure hear from us. If you have questions, please take a look at the Adoption and Fostering FAQs etc. on our website as all common questions are answered there. Thank you for your understanding and flexibility as we work to save these innocent lives!!  LEARN MORE ABOUT US: socialteesnyc.org; Instagram via @socialteesnyc; Facebook.com/socialteesanimalrescue
