Meet Brody! He was found as a stray in Connell (Eastern WA) by the police and brought into our rescue. We're hoping to find a foster or adoptive home for him very soon. We're still getting to know Brody, but he's got a lot of personality in that little package. He's not a shy guy and is a happy little dude when he's around people he knows. He also has done well meeting other dogs. Brody can be a little sassy, though, so someone with some dog experience would be helpful. He responds well to a human who leads and seems happy with some boundaries. We are not sure of his exact breed mix - he's a bit of a mystery. His head and compactness says Frenchie while there also seems to be some Chihuahua and perhaps some other breeds in there. He's 100% cute, though! Meet Pygmy! Hi! My name is Pygmy, and I am approximately 18 months old and weigh just 22 pounds. If you’re looking for a pup on the smaller side I might be your guy! My people think I may be a French Bulldog mix, but that’s just their best guess. Whatever I am, I’m pretty darn cute! My story started at a local concrete plant, where some kind workers noticed me hanging around. They were really worried I might get hit by one of the big trucks and reached out to rescue for help. Personally, I didn’t think living at the concrete plant was all that bad—they were feeding me tacos! In hindsight, though, I suppose it wasn’t exactly the safest place for a little guy like me. Now that I’m in a foster home, everyone is getting to see what a sweet boy I really am. I am house trained and crate trained, and I’m perfectly capable of staying home alone when necessary. No separation anxiety for this guy! I can be a bit of a chewer if I don’t get enough daily stimulation, so a good supply of bones, chew toys, and other things to keep me busy will make me very happy. I am great with other dogs and would happily share my new home with fur brothers or sisters. I have never been around cats but with proper introductions I could probably coexist. I currently feel more comfortable with women than men. I’m being fostered in an all-woman household, so I haven’t had much opportunity to build my confidence around men. With patience, positive experiences, and a little time, this is something my people believe I can continue working on. Did I mention that I’m a major cuddler? I love being close to my people and am a huge fan of blankets, comfy dog beds, and anything cozy. If there’s a soft spot available, chances are I’ll find it! I have never been around children so a home with older respectful children would be best. I also LOVE toys. Balls are an absolute favorite, but I’m really not too picky when it comes to having fun. I’ve been learning to walk nicely on a leash and love getting out and about. At only 22 pounds, I’m a great size for tagging along on adventures—and then curling up beside you when the day is done. I am neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines. If you’re looking for a sweet, playful, cuddly little guy who traded life at a concrete plant (and tacos!) for the chance at a forever family, Pygmy might be your perfect match. This adorable French Bulldog came to Church of Pug suffering from severe neglect and a terrible skin condition that should never have been allowed to progress so far. While his body is healing, what amazes everyone who meets him is that his heart remains completely open. Tostito isn't worried about his past. He's too busy trying to climb into your lap. Despite everything he has endured, this sweet boy's greatest wish is simple: to be loved. He wants cuddles. He wants affection. He wants to be close to his people. If you're sitting down, Tostito would very much like to join you. Immediately. Now receiving the medical care he always deserved, Tostito is beginning his journey toward a healthier future. His skin will continue to improve, his coat will continue to grow back, and with every passing day, the handsome Frenchie hidden beneath years of neglect becomes easier to see. But the best part of Tostito was never hidden. It's the loving heart that never stopped believing people could be kind. Tostito doesn't need someone who will focus on how he looks today. He needs someone who can see beyond the healing skin and recognize the sweet, affectionate little soul underneath-a dog whose greatest joy is simply being loved. I was left abandoned at the shelter from a very questionable background. Unable to hold in any food my timeline was cut short at the shelter. Thank goodness Church of Pug said yes to giving me a chance. My foster mom took me to this dog doctor who did not think I had much time left. No one could explain what was happening with me. Luckily my foster mom and the dogtor did not give up on trying to find out what was causing me to be so sick. All I knew ... I was SO HUNGRY, but no matter how much I ate I could not gain weight, and my body was breaking down. Luckily, a special test gave everyone the answer ... I have something called Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency (EPI) which I guess means my pancreas does not work so well UNLESS I have these awesome enzymes that help me absorb nutrients AND I am FINALLY feeling full and getting healthy and strong. Even with all of these things I can proudly say I am completely potty trained. No accidents for me. I like my space ... and I gravitate to the cat vs. the other dogs in the house. I sleep through the night and when I want to be pet or cuddle, I put up my paw and gently grab your hand or arm. I am still unsure about people ... I don't like to be picked up ... so when I want on the couch I growl when I go from floor to next to you ... but then I stop. If I am not sure what you are doing or your intentions, I will growl. It's my way to say I'm uncomfortable but I would never hurt anyone, I swear. I am really trying to behave like a dog who is loved, vs a dog who was hurt. I believe I can learn to trust again I just hope my forever home has the patience to help me get to that happy place. For my comfort a home with kids and wild hyper pups would not suit me. I prefer the calmer of the pack and the kitty cat. I know I am ready to find my forever home now that I'm all healthy and strong. Is that potentially you?
