Story
Meet Liberty! This sweet girl is full of smiles for miles. She was found walking up to someone's residence and was lonely and looking for love. She ended up being picked up by the county facility to spend a few days in jail. The person who's house she walked up to said she was so sweet and kind... and that she wanted her to come back! The lady found our organization and we pulled her from jail to spend her time him her new home with found fosters. She is as happy as she can be and loves the children as if they are her own. She would really thrive in a home with children over 5 years old as she really wants to play and have fun. Ms. Liberty would be up for anything... if that means going on adventures or just resting around the house. Her personality really shines, just like the liberty bell. She is an all-around great girl who is looking for her perfect family to love her as much as she will love them. She is fully vetted, microchipped and can be sent to you by ground transport to your location.

Story
Please contact Kady Hammer (KadyH@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.Beautiful German Shepherd looking for forever home! COURAGE NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!! Name: Courage        Best Guess for Breed:  German Shepherd      Best Guess for Age:    4 years as of February 2024       SEX:    female   Approximate Weight:  48lbs   Gets Along With:    Other dogs! We haven't seen her with cats or kids but she can be tested.   Currently Living at:  South Carolina shelter   Special adoption considerations: Courage is a truly Lucky Dog!  She tested positive for Heartworm disease but has already been treated! Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites.  Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative. We are happy to talk more in depth about heartworm disease and treatment during the adoption counseling process.   Courage is Looking For:  Courage is sweet but a little shy. She is looking for a home to help her settle, making her feel comfortable, and helping show her what it means to have fun! Courage, just like her name, is bravely starting out on a new adventure and is ready for all new experiences. This girl deserves all the spoils of dog life from fetch in yard to long hikes on the weekend.    What My Foster Says About Me:   Coming soon!   Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT:    The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment.  If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog   Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. That said, we cannot make any guarantees about age, breed or temperament.   Thank you for contacting Lucky Dog Animal Rescue and helping to save a life!  Please visit us online at    www.luckydoganimalrescue.org   .    BE A FOSTER!!!    Fosters make it possible for Lucky Dog Animal Rescue to save and care for homeless and abandoned dogs!  To learn about fostering, please contact    fostering@luckydoganimalrescue.org   ! Please contact Kady Hammer (KadyH@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.sweet gent seeking fresh start and love! CHET NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!! Name:  Chet      Best Guess for Breed:  German Shepherd mix   Best Guess for Age: 4 years as of March 2024       SEX:    Male   Approximate Weight:  61 lbs   Gets Along With:  Other dogs! We haven't seen him with kids or cats but he can be tested   Currently Living at:  South Carolina shelter; needs a foster or forever home in the DC area to get his freedom ride up here!   Special adoption considerations: Chet is a truly Lucky Dog. Although he has tested positive for heartworms, treatment has been scheduled! Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites. Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative. Heartworm dogs can resume full active and normal lives, but need to be kept calm for 4-6 weeks after treatment.  We are happy to talk more in depth about heartworm disease and treatment during the screening process.    Chet is Looking For: His forever home! This sweet gent needs a new home through no fault of his own. He's eager to once again have his own humans - German shepherds are known for being quite attached to their people! Long sniffy walks and world exploration with them is on his wish list, as are a cushy dog bed and quality kibble. But you know what's right at the top of the list? Being safe and loved and under his own roof for all his days. Shelter staff say he's very easy on the leash and very good with other dogs. He's in his prime as an adult, well out of the puppy yips, and is more than ready to ease into his new humans' home and hearts. In exchange, they get the immense amount of love and loyalty he is storing up for his new family. What do you say? Is that going to be you?   What My Foster Says About Me:  We will update this once he has arrived in the DC area and spent some time with his foster   Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken. We do not have a shelter. CDCK has a thorough adoption process to find the best possible fit for each of our dogs and cats (we do not operate under a first-come, first-served model). Upon accepting a new cat or dog into the organization, we provide a basic vet visit that includes necessary vaccinations, disease screenings, deworming, microchips, and spay/neuter for dogs six months and older. We do not provide a comprehensive medical exam before adoption. As a result, sickness, injury, and disability may exist unbeknownst to CDCK. City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is not responsible for payment of any vet care, including known and unknown medical conditions once a cat or dog is adopted from us. Dog specific: Rabies, DHPP, and Bordetella vaccines. They are tested for HW, Lyme, Ehrlichia, Anaplasmosis. Most cats and dogs will have a house-training accident in the initial days in their new home and we cannot guarantee any pet is housebroken or crate trained.
