Story
Aries comes from a shelter originally. He’s been with me for the past two years. He’s snuggly and very affectionate. He loves toys that squeak and crinkle. He has the largest puppy dog eyes ever and he’s a lazy loaf. He will accompany you on runs though he’s a little out of shape and he LOVES the snow. He needs someplace with a yard so that he can run around and since he’s so gentle I’d love for him to go to a family with kids. He’s 3 years old and his birthday is 11/30/2023. He is microchipped and needs to have his shots updated.

Story
Like her name, Opal is a gem: she is smart, loving and eager to please. Weighing in at just under 30 pounds, this three-year-old has lots of youthful energy and enjoys doing zoomies and chasing toys (balls, Kong toys and frisbees). She doesn’t fully have the “return the toy” concept of the game of Fetch, but she’s working on it. She is motivated both by treats and by praise, and quick to pick up on what is expected, so she will be easy to train. Some dog-savvy neighbors of the foster pointed out that Opal seems to enjoy training sessions and would probably do well in agility training. The animal shelter she came from said that she did well in doggie play groups, but PAW has not yet tested her with other dogs. She seems to be OK with older children (9 or older), but her habit of jumping would at this point not make her the best choice for young children. On the other hand, she seems to be extremely trainable and is already making progress on the jumping behavior. When not prancing around with a toy in her mouth, Opal is a world-class cuddler and will happily join you on the couch.  PAW adopts in the MD, VA, DC and northern PA region. ##2620613##

Story
This 5-year-old German Shepherd/American Pit Bull Terrier mix is a loving, affectionate, and deeply loyal companion seeking a stable, patient home. He has a gentle nature with the people he knows and bonds closely with his primary caregivers. He enjoys cuddling, sleeping close, and being near his person, and he has a calm, sweet temperament in a familiar environment. He has previous experience living with another dog and did well in that home. However, he can be reactive toward unfamiliar dogs, cats, and new people, so slow, structured introductions and consistent guidance are essential. He also experiences some separation anxiety and is best suited for an adopter who can provide routine, reassurance, and companionship. On walks, he is curious and enjoys exploring—especially when he finds acorns or fresh grass to nibble. Indoors, he settles well and is affectionate, gentle, and eager to please. He is being rehomed solely due to a family move and is not being surrendered for behavior

Story
Bentley, is quite typical of what you would expect in a terrier (even though there's no terrier in his background)!. He likes to run, leap and hunt for prey in his foster mom's backyard. But this same strong, fearless hunter, gets weak at the knees when it comes to men. In fact, he would have been better named Courage the Cowardly dog, due to his somewhat peculiar fear of men. Therefore, this strong warrior, a mix of Chihuahua, Chow Chow, Rottweiler, German Shepherd, Shih Tzu, Doberman Pinscher and American Cocker Spaniel, is a sensitive, eager to please ladies' man and would be best suited as the only dog with a female owner who enjoys an active, but loyal and joyous dog. This sweet Georgia girl is looking for her forever home.  She is your typical sweet big pup who loves others dogs and people. Adele prefers a more rural home (did not do well in foster in downtown DC) and without a lot of in and out traffic in the home. She LOVES to play with other pups and is great in her crate (she is happy to go in with a bone for an afternoon nap and at night), so if she can find the right home to work through her quirks, she could be the great fit. She would do best in a home with older children or teens. She is a little shy at first but warms up quickly and is very food motivated! Adele also knows how to use a doggy door. Could yours be the home of Adele's dreams? Submit an application today! Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. K-9 Lifesavers strongly recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and the new family.    Adoption fees cover basic vetting, rabies (if puppy is old enough), distemper/parvo vaccinations, deworming, monthly heartworm prevention while in our care (if old enough), monthly flea/tick prevention while in our care, and transport costs. K-9 Lifesavers will also cover the cost of spay/neuter at our partner vet at 6 months of age or reimburse adopter for up to the amount of our partner vet cost should you choose to spay/neuter at your own vet.       Foster Program: Foster homes provide for the temporary care of a rescue until the dog is placed into a loving, forever home. For more information on becoming a foster parent, and our Foster Program, visit http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/foster/ or email our Foster Coordinator at foster@k-9lifesavers.org.Sponsor Me!
