Story
Son of an older German Shepherd that passed away, around 5 years of age. Looking for a stable home to take him in, as he’s been between homes for a while now. Haven’t been able to properly take him in due to moving and family reasons. He’s a very friendly dog and loves being around people, but has some separation issues, and can become territorial when around other dogs.

Story
I`m in a FOSTER HOME! If you would like to set up a time to meet with me, please email my foster parent kriskill.hasse@gmail.comMeet Imogen, a senior shepherd who`s looking for a comfy place to spend her golden years. She`s one of the easiest dogs to care for - she gets along with other dogs and cats, is easy to walk, is mostly quiet, does well in the car, and can be left alone in the house with no problems. Her ideal home would be one where she has a nice big dog bed to rest, a dog or cat friend to say `what`s up?` to and maybe play with when she`s feeling up for it, and a person who will take her on meandering walks where she can sniff to her heart`s content. She enjoys a good lounge in the sun, car rides, neck scratches and face rubs. She doesn`t bark unless others goad her into it, and even then, it`s easy to get her to stop. She has arthritis, so medication is a must and stairs aren`t ideal, though carpeted stairs or a harness for her back end could keep her going strong for longer. She doesn’t mind meeting new people but she doesn’t like very loud noises and places. She`ll never steal your food or surf your counters, and she can be left unconfined in your house with no danger to your shoes or your furniture.  Consider giving this beautiful girl a place to be loved for the rest of her life and she`ll reward you with consistent, gentle signs of affection.

Story
Tessa is looking for their forever home! WHAT MY FOSTER SAYS: Are you looking for a gorgeous shepherd working breed dog? Look no further than Tessa! Tessa originally lived with a family in a townhouse in Alexandria. Unfortunately, due to their limited space and inability to provide her with adequate exercise during her early years, she developed significant pent-up energy and struggled with reactivity, particularly toward other dogs. Tessa has been through a formal training program with one of our trusted trainers, and is now looking for an adopter who can take over her management tools, exercise routines, and structured training. Tessa deserves a family that she will be able to share a lifetime of happiness with. With the help of her training, she has been successful in playing with other dogs after proper, slow introductions. However, we would recommend that she be the only dog in the home. Tessa is bright, beautiful, and oh-so fun to work with. If you're interested in meeting Tessa, or learning more about her, please don't hesitate to reach out! ATTRIBUTES: Tessa would do well as the only dog in the home. Tessa does well with other dogs outside of the home. —------------- Laila’s Legacy Animal Rescue does not guarantee that any dog is housebroken nor crate trained. Story
We are so excited to show the world this exceptionally happy and handsome German Shepherd boy that everyone loves instantly upon meeting him.  There are just some dogs draw you in make you want to hug them and reassure them and spend more time around them.  This boy is named Maverick and he is 4 to 5 years old and weighs 65 pounds with a need to probably be a good 75 pounds or more. His past is actually unknown, except that he was astray that came into a shelter in Middle, Tennessee and Critter Cavalry Rescue soon learned about his incarceration.  You can see in the pictures that his eyes look a little runny, and they are because they have some problems that are being medicated now.  Soon they will clear up and soon there will be good healthy weight put on this boy and he will be ready for a new start that he most certainly deserves in life. Maverick is great with meeting new people and new dogs.  He seems to be housebroken and is able to be crated, but prefers not to if you'll allow that.   He is the typical Shepherd energy, where he moves about checking things out and with curiosity.  He is quite obedient and smart.  He was a dream dog while the vet poked and prodded in inspected teeth and ears and drew blood.  He was at ease at the vet's office when entering the lobby and being in a place with lots of dog smells.  Maverick is a strong boy, both in physical strength and interpersonal acceptance of what events come his way.   He has show great trust in new people as he was transferred. from multiple cars and meeting different people who were helping transport him to his foster home with Critter Cavalry.  He meets strangers with a friendly smile and a seemingly awareness that they just want to help him.  He readily jumps up into a new car when asked to do so, which proves he has no hip issues or movement problems whatsoever for such a big boy.  He is handsome now, but soon very soon, he will be stunning once his coat improves with good food and grooming.  This boy enjoys being brushed and will be fun to do as you watch the loving results of your effort produce even more good looks.  Maverick is easy to love and he will readily love you back.  Please email Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com if you want to know more or to receive an application for adoption.    PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comApril 27, 2025, 7:54 pm

Story
Female, 3 years old, 59 lbs Personality: eager-to-please, affectionate, patient, quiet, smart, funny/goofy, and easygoing. Meet the friendly, curious, and intelligent Maribella! She’s comfortable being around new people, interested in other dogs, great both on- and off-leash, and politely disinterested in her foster family’s cats. She’s house trained and working on building her confidence with her crate. Maribella prefers mental stimulation to physical activity. She’s happy with a couple of leisurely walks per day and loves learning new words almost as much as she adores her cherished tennis ball – she’s already mastered the words “sit,” “paw,” “lay down,” and “stay.” If you’d like to meet this sweet girl whose heart is as big as her ears, apply today to meet Maribella! ___________________________________________________________________ If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat, we require an adoption application. If the animal has "HAS APPLICATION" listed, they are still available to receive additional applications but also may be in the process of being adopted soon. Learn more, see our list of dogs needing foster, and apply, https://www.citydogsrescuedc.org/foster-a-city-dog.html City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is a foster-based rescue in Washington, DC. We do not have a shelter. CDCK has a thorough adoption process to find the best possible fit for each of our dogs and cats (we do not operate under a first-come, first-served model). Upon accepting a new cat or dog into the organization, we provide a basic vet visit that includes necessary vaccinations, disease screenings, deworming, microchips, and spay/neuter for dogs six months and older. We do not provide a comprehensive medical exam before adoption. As a result, sickness, injury, and disability may exist unbeknownst to CDCK. City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is not responsible for payment of any vet care, including known and unknown medical conditions once a cat or dog is adopted from us. Dog specific: Rabies, DHPP, Lepto and Bordetella vaccines. They are tested for HW, Lyme, Ehrlichia, Anaplasmosis. Most cats and dogs will have a house-training accident in the initial days in their new home and we cannot guarantee any pet is housebroken or crate trained.
