Story
Meet Teddy! This handsome 6-year-old boy is incredibly sweet and ready to find the right home to help him thrive. Teddy had been with his family since he was a puppy. Due to escalating health issues within the household, his owners are no longer able to provide Teddy with the time, structure, exercise, and full-time care he deserves. Teddy comes from working lines and has the drive and focus often seen in working German Shepherds. His owners shared that one of his male littermates serves as a K9 with a local police department. Teddy is smart, eager to please, and very trainable, but he needs an experienced home that understands the unique needs of a working-line GSD. Teddy is a very friendly, affectionate, and handsome boy who enjoys being with people. He would benefit from continued training, socialization, and consistency. While Teddy is not yet a Canine Good Citizen, he has a lot of potential in the right environment. Teddy has a high prey drive, enjoys chasing wildlife, and is not suitable for a home with cats. With proper introductions, we believe he could do well with another dog. In fact, in Teddy’s former home he played with his mother and sibling, who lived next door. Because Teddy has spent much of his life roaming loose on a rural property and has not had consistent leash work, he will need continued training to improve his leash manners. He is a large, strong dog who requires confident leadership, structure, and guidance. His previous owners told us, they had been somewhat lenient, and Teddy had not always received the boundaries or physical activity he needs. Teddy would do best in an active, breed-experienced home that can provide him with plenty of exercise, mental stimulation, training, and structure. He is a very nice dog… sweet, friendly, good-looking, and willing to please who simply needs the right home to bring out his full potential. Could Teddy be the loyal companion you’ve been looking for? https://gsrne.org/our-available-dogs/

That face…♥️ how could you not fall in love? This handsome 1-year-old boy, hasn’t had the best start in life. Adopted at 7 months old, he went to a home that wasn’t prepared for the needs of a young, under-socialized German Shepherd. Without proper exposure or guidance, he spent much of his time isolated, living mostly in a basement. Deke is doing so well since he’s arrived in our rescue and already beginning to blossom. He’s warming up to our volunteers and showing us just how sweet he really is. He’s still a bit unsure at times, which makes sense given his limited exposure early on, but we’re already seeing his confidence grow. He loves exploring on his walks and has discovered just how fun toys can be. Every day he’s making progress and it’s so rewarding to watch. Deke is still young and has so much potential. With the right family one that will continue to gently expose him to the world and build his confidence he will thrive. A calm, easygoing, confident dog in the home would be a wonderful bonus to help guide him. This sweet boy deserves a second chance at the life he’s been missing. Please reach out to us @ (978) 443-2202 if you think you could be Deke’s second chance.

Story
Meet Roxie… This beautiful girl is truly blossoming, and it’s been so rewarding to watch her confidence grow more and more each day. Roxie is not the same shy dog that first came to us, she’s affectionate, loving, and always happy to stop for attention and affection on her walks. It’s honestly impossible not to fall in love with her sweet personality. Roxie previously lived in a home with six children ranging in age from 7 to 17. She especially loved spending time with the older kids, and we definitely think she would enjoy a home with teens again. She loves being included, going for walks, and simply being close to her people. She walks beautifully on leash and does not pull at all. Roxie enjoys getting out and exploring, and she’s become such a pleasure to spend time with. Sadly, through no fault of her own, Roxie lost her home when her family’s landlord would not allow a German Shepherd on the property. Roxie would thrive with an active family familiar with the breed one excited to continue building her confidence, taking her on adventures, and giving her the stability and love she deserves. She is such a gentle, affectionate soul who has come such a long way and is more than ready for a forever family to call her own.

Story
Loki is looking for an experienced German Shepherd home with an active family who can match his energy and continue his training. Loki is a big, strong, young dog who is exuberant, friendly, and full of life. He loves to play, enjoys affection, and is very food and toy motivated, making him eager to learn. He’s currently working on not jumping up to greet people and is making great progress. Loki’s owner made the heartbreaking decision to surrender him after facing hip surgery and multiple spinal surgeries. She loved him deeply but knew he deserved a home that could provide the activity, structure, and exercise a young dog needs. According to his owner, Loki spent much of his first 18 months on a run in the yard with limited walks or exercise, so he missed out on some important socialization and experiences. Since coming to GSRNE, Loki has made wonderful progress. He loves his walking adventures and takes in the world with curiosity, his eyes and focus everywhere as he explores his surroundings. We’ve been working on his obedience training, and he’s doing very well. Because of his size, strength, and enthusiasm, Loki will do best with someone who has solid German Shepherd experience and an active lifestyle. With continued training, structure, and love, we know Loki has all the potential to become an amazing lifelong companion. For more information: https://gsrne.org/our-available-dogs/

Story
Introducing.... drum roll please....dadadada... BACON!! This energetic, fun-loving boy will always keep you moving. Bacon is a German Shepard mix that we rescued a couple of years ago as he was at a high kill shelter and we know how that goes for so many loving pets. With intentions to rehome him sooner after saving him, he has just been so much fun and a wonderful friend to our other rescues, but now with a growing family we just don't have the time to give to Bacon with all his boundless energy and hoping to find that loving home that can give this boy a run for his money....literally run run! Bacon always loves to play ball and fetch with any kind of ball you can find, especially a nice football or soccer ball, that he will likely POP!. Bacon just looooves to chase little animals, including little dogs, so he is suited for only medium to larger dogs if you have other dogs at home. And of course he is such a snuggle bug on the couch, and he will happily take over your entire bed!!

Story
Maybel — short for Maybelline — is a stunning 10-month-old girl with the most striking blue eyes that look like she’s wearing perfect eyeliner all the time. At around 50 pounds, she’s the perfect mix of playful puppy energy and sweet, affectionate companionship. She’s incredibly smart, eager to learn, and already doing wonderfully with potty training and leash training. Maybel is great with other dogs and has such a loving, gentle personality once she feels safe and comfortable. Like many rescue dogs, she can be a little hesitant around men at first, but with patience and kindness she quickly begins to open up and show her sweet, goofy side. Maybel is looking for a family that will continue helping her build confidence and show her that the world can be a safe, loving place. In return, she’ll give endless loyalty, cuddles, and those unforgettable blue-eyed stares.
