Story
Hello! I rescued Mai Tai 2 years ago. She is approx 3 yrs old. She is very smart and knows basic commands and some bonus tricks. She is crate trained, knows how to place in her bed and heel on command. Def needs help on her recall as she loves to chase critters and wants to say hi to other dogs so needs to be on a leash at this point. She is super playful, but also very sweet, funny and affectionate. My job role has changed in the last year so I’ve been traveling almost weekly and work long hours. I also need to be in AZ for extended amounts of time now to help my elderly father. I really just don’t have the time she deserves and having to board her all the time is just unfair. Would really love to see her go to a home with a yard to run around in and maybe another dog to play with. Not recommending cats as she chases them.

Story
I run a dog training business. Dave is a great dog who I homed for a client, but feel rehoming him would be best for him as my business and dog sport consume my time. He is an active dog, he is agreeable and playful with other dogs. He has some distance increase signaling (hesitancy) towards strangers but non-advancing - typical of the breed. His training is limited, however he is familiar with positionals, place, clicker (terminal marker), and the beginning steps of a recall, he is crate trained. I want to emphasize, he is a good dog; he is very affectionate and loving, I am not rehoming him because he is problematic but to focus on competing. Patience would be required as he has time to settle and adjust to a calmer life. I prefer a handler who has experience with active, working, or herding breeds.

Story
Carrots is an owner give up to our rescue. Below is the information her owner gave us initially. I have had Carrots for almost two years now. She has been the most amazing friend I could have asked for. She rarely barks and only lets out an occasional whine if she needs to go out or is wanting some attention. She’s a well behaved for a dog that lives her life with me in a small dorm and can only go out to play fetch or go for a walk when I’m not at class or work. She needs better. In general, she has been amazing for the hand she’s been dealt. I actually couldn’t be more grateful for how well she’s treated me as she’s grown to be near a full two years old!! I am having to part with her because she is still a puppy, and I’m a Junior in college struggling to work and commute on weekends when I have to, and give her the attention she deserves. She’s trained well. She sits on command, she can stay if you ask, she’s house trained, and she’s comfortable with her kennel if needed. She uses a harness for walks and does great. She was trained to walk on the left of you and she’s usually pretty good about staying focused. She has started the process of being an ESA certified dog but has not rec'd her second certification. Her previous owner said that she was around a child once and growled so we do not recommend her with small children. She has never been around cats so we cannot say whether she will or will not be okay arounds feline friends. She would make a great family member for an active family. If you would like to add Carrots to your home, please message us and we will send you an application. Carrots is being fostered in MS but included in your adoption fee is transport to a location near you by Rescue Riders Pet Transport, the most animal friendly transport on the road! The adoption fee includes her medical for a health certificate and transport to you. We look forward to hearing from you soon!

Story
Princess is an approximately 3 year old spayed female shepherd mix that desperately needs a home. Her owner was unable to continue to feed her, and a neighbor stepped up to help care for Princess but they are not able to care for her long-term. Princess is good with other dogs, and after having multiple litters of puppies before getting spayed, she is very maternal. She is friendly with strangers but will let you know when they come into the yard! Princess appears to be house-trained and is non-destructive when she comes inside the house at night to sleep. Once she knows where “home” is, she is not one to wander and sticks close to where her people are. Princess is fully vaccinated but is unfortunately heartworm positive.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. If interested in any of our animals for adoption, or to foster an animal, please fill out the respective application here to get the process started. Visit our FAQ webpage for commonly asked questions about our adoption/foster process. Ludwig is recently back with Last Day Dog Rescue after 8 years due to no fault of his own and is still settling into his new surroundings, but we've already learned a few things about him. Ludwig is a dog who loves the company of adults and would thrive in a calm, quiet environment. He's not a fan of young children and would be happiest as the only canine companion in the home. Ludwig has a lot of love to give to the right person and he’s very well behaved. He's looking for an experienced dog owner who will understand his needs and is willing to provide him with patience, and a safe, predictable routine. A fenced yard would be a bonus, allowing him to explore safely.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all animals before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the animals shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. If the animal is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Animals MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our animals back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted animal. Please understand the statements about this animal are based upon the foster home's evaluation of the animal. The animal might behave differently (negatively or positively) in your home. While the animal might be good with the current foster’s dogs, cats, children, etc., it may not be with your animal(s) or children. The animal may be housebroken or litter trained in the home of the foster but may relapse in your home. The animal is represented to the public as it performs in the foster home and any statements made regarding the animal are conditional to that foster home setting. Please understand that statements made regarding this animal are simply overviews and are not guaranteed. The Petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our animals. Visual breed identification in animals is unreliable so for most of the animals we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each animal as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our animals based on personality, not by breed label. Thank you for looking through our list of animals needing forever homes and choosing rescue first. We appreciate you stopping by. December 5, 2025, 8:44 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. If interested in any of our animals for adoption, or to foster an animal, please fill out the respective application here to get the process started. Visit our FAQ webpage for commonly asked questions about our adoption/foster process. &#226&#128&#139Loki is looking for a special home! When he is around people he knows and trusts, he is extremely sweet and well behaved. He builds strong bonds and loves to snuggle up and play. He consistently proves the idiom about old dogs wrong as even at 9 years old he is great at learning new tricks. He even seems to understand English and knows phrases like “go get your toy” and “can I have it”! He is very well behaved in the house and has free roam while alone — he never has any accidents or gets into things he isn’t supposed to. He is also crate trained and sleeps in his crate every night. Despite being a senior shepherd, Loki still LOVES to play. His favorite pastime is playing fetch and he would play for hours if it was up to him. He’s very good at fetch, too, and will keep searching until he finds his toy and then bring it right back. However, since he is a senior, Loki has bad arthritis that causes him a lot of pain. He doesn’t let it slow him down, but takes pain meds and joint supplements to keep him comfortable. He is also prone to slipping on hard floors, and would benefit from a house with a few rugs. While Loki is a great dog with people he is familiar with, he has a lot of anxiety around meeting strangers and will require very slow introductions to new people. If someone he doesn’t know were to approach him or try to pet him, he will growl to warn them away. Because of this, he will need an adopter who is not only willing to give him the time and space he needs to adjust to them, but also to anyone new he may meet in the future. In order to best set him up for success, we are including a training package for him and his new adopters so they can continue working with him to be the best he can be. He may take a little extra time, but once he trusts someone, he shows them that he is an incredible dog with a lot to offer anyone willing to meet him at his level.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all animals before adoption.
