Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. ARCHER was transferred to GaDaH with his two siblings from a shelter in Texas.     ARCHER is neutered, rabies, core vaccines, heartworm/tick tested negative. He is on monthly prevention, microchipped, has an estimated date of birth of 6 December 2021 and at the  time of transport weighed 45 pounds. We have no way of knowing what the actual breed is, so it is up to people to look at the pictures and video's to make up their own mind. ARCHER is available for adoption from Give a Dog a Home Rescue in Sebec, Maine for an adoption fee of $550.   This adoption fee covers the cost of running a brick and mortar rescue as well as any transport, veterinary, food, treats, toys costs and the many expenses that rescues endure to keep the pets in their care safe, and happy.   Be sure to read all his information and if interested, go to the rescue website to submit an adoption application. https://www.giveadogahome-rescue.org/forms/form?formid=5838 After being at the rescue since August 2022, Archer started 2023 by going to stay with a foster family in Maine, however in the middle of February after 7-8 weeks he came back to the rescue as the family hadn't expected to have him that long and things were not working out. Notes from Foster family where Archer was for 7 weeks before coming back to the rescue. Archer has only been here for three weeks but is probably the best foster dog anyone could hope for. He was very nervous at first, and remains uncertain about changes or loud noises but is much better.   He's an active dog but smart and able to reign it in. In the long term, he might prefer a home with a younger dog but in the short term having a quiet environment is allowing him to learn to sit and learn his name with little distraction. He loves to play with Zephyr when Zephyr has the oomph, but will settle for us when he needs to!   He does seem to prefer women (aka, me) but this may be because I'm home all the time and Henry comes and goes. We're going to have a couple people over this week to see if he gravitates towards women who AREN'T me.   He likes walks, but hates leashes. He is learning MUCH faster to walk on a leash than Zephyr ever did. This afternoon we'll take them both down to the lower pastures and let them run in an empty one. He's good at making his own toys and likes things that come apart more than rubbery things that survive his chewing! He loves my kindling pile and will help himself when need be! He is also very good about trying to keep all his toys outside and continues to seem surprised when I tell him he can play inside.   He is not very food driven, but is praise driven and eager to please. He is really smart, learns quickly and is all-round a lovely boy. The rescue buys food in bulk, by the truck load and there are a variety of brands and flavors. None of the food given is less than a 4* food rating. There have not been issues with eating any of the varying foods. It is important that you do your research on the ingredients and speak to your vet or a nutritionist on grain vs grain free! &#226&#128&#139You MUST understand that dogs need time to decompress and adapt to their new environment and home. It is a HUGE transition they make from the kill shelter, being vetted, on transport for 3 days and arriving in Maine where the temperature and such is very different to what they have only known. In rescue there is what is known as the "3 Point Rule" Days 1-3 your dog is stressed, anxious, confused as to where they are now. Weeks 1-3 your dog is adjusting, settling in, learning things. At the 3-month point, your dog understands they are home, and have built up a trusting relationship where they feel loved and secure. If you feel that you have the heart and home to give this precious soul a wonderful life, please go to our website, under the ADOPTION INFO tab, complete, then submit the APPLICATION. Our process takes around 1-2 days, and ensuring your references are aware that we will be calling, could speed up the process. Once you have been approved, we discuss any questions in regards to the dog you are wanting to adopt, then we can schedule your appointment to come to the rescue in Sebec, Maine for meet/greet/adopt Please do NOT submit an application if you are not looking to take home a new best friend within the next few weeks. https://www.giveadogahome-rescue.org/forms/form?formid=5838 ALL Dogs are LOCATED AT THE RESCUE IN SEBEC, MAINE. We post in various states along the east coast and Canada where we have had lots of successful adoptions to enable more exposure for these beautiful saved souls. Families will need to be prepared to travel to the rescue to meet and take home their new best friend. Sebec is located just outside the towns of Dover-Foxcroft and Milo (approx. 8 miles) and approx. 45 miles from Bangor. There are also lots of hotels, motels, pet friendly accommodations and wonderful camp-sites for the more adventurous families and what a great way to get to know your new best friend. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. CINDERELLA was transferred to GaDaH from a high kill shelter in Texas on 22nd April 2023. We take a lot of pictures and videos and don't always have the time to post them on the dogs individual webpage and adoption site, so we ask that you go to the rescue  YouTube channel  and  photo albums on our Facebook page  to see a LOT of pictures and videos.      CINDERELLA is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, heartworm/tick tested negative. She is on monthly prevention, microchipped, has an estimated date of birth of 30 December 2019 and at the time of transport weighed 63.6 pounds. We have no way of knowing what the actual breed is, so it is up to people to look at the pictures and video's to make up their own mind. CINDERELLA was picked up as a stray who had been hit by a car and had a broken foot. The foot had already started to heal and a callous formed and so re-setting the break was not possible. It was thought that amputation might be needed, however, the vet decided to give her some time to see how she got on. Cinderella has been with a foster family and has been using her foot, she does run, play and jump and so thankfully amputation was not needed. However, where the break was and callous has formed, will be weaker and it is recommended jumping be limited and supplements to help strengthen her bones be given. The shelter is willing to forward x-rays to the adopters veterinarian who has the software to open the radiographs. She may occasionally need pain meds on cold days or at times when she has been a little too energetic and she will get arthiritis in the future so it is important to discuss with your vet for high quality supplements, food and potential treatments for arthiritis. She does NOT need limited exercise, but it is important to restrict activity such as jumping and such that could cause excess impact on her foot. CINDERELLA is available for adoption from Give a Dog a Home Rescue in Sebec, Maine for an adoption fee of $550.       This adoption fee covers the cost of running a brick and mortar rescue as well as any transport, veterinary, food,   treats, toys costs and the many expenses that rescues endure to keep the pets in their care safe, and happy.     Be sure to read all the information and if interested, go to the rescue website to submit an adoption application. https://www.giveadogahome-rescue.org/forms/form?formid=5838 The rescue buys food in bulk, by the truck load and there are a variety of brands and flavors. Story
Charlie is a 3 year old (Dec 2019) 120lb German shepherd great Pyrenees mix, almost half and half per his dna report. He was a shelter rescue, failed service dog when I adopted him April 2022. I have since sold my house and moved and unfortunately city apartment life just isn't for him. He's needs his yard to run in or someone more active. I do not want to rehome him as he is my cuddle buddy and support animal however it's not fair to him to keep him cooped up in a small apartment. If someone comes along who can provide a better life for him I will think about rehoming. I will meet you within reason of 07087. Those unfamiliar with Great Pyranees should research first. They need to be contained or leashed.

Story
We are seeking a compassionate and caring individual or family to provide a forever home for our dog, Sparky. My family would love to keep him but we are in the middle of a very difficult financial hardship and we cannot give Sparky the happy life he deserves. Sparky is an incredibly affectionate and well-behaved dog, adored by everyone he meets. However, due to his preference for being the only dog in the household, we are searching for a loving home where he can be the sole canine companion. Sparky has been a loyal and devoted member of our family, but as he ages, we believe it's essential to find him a home where his needs can be met. He requires extra attention and care to ensure his golden years are comfortable and fulfilling.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Mollie (AL) is a female possibly German Shepherd Dog/Pit Bull Terrier mix rescued in Alabama, and estimated to be 18 months old at intake in February 2021. Mollie is good with people.  It took some time for Mollie's owner to surrender her after we rescued her puppies and her condition told a story of the horrific abuse she has suffered.  Underweight, Mollie spent her life in a crate in her own waste to the extent that the pads of her feet were burnt and infected. Now healed, Mollie is sweeter than all the sugar in the world. She is a pure bundle of love and just wants to be loved in return. Mollie is a dream on a leash, does well in the car and is housetrained; she would LOVE a yard where she can lay in the sun in her forever home.  Despite her past, Mollie's crate is her safe space and she goes in on her own whenever she’s feeling overwhelmed. She knows to go right in when it’s dinner or treat time and it’s become a positive space for her. Mollie does best with confident dogs who will keep her in check. Mollie has waited all her young life to experience love, kind words, soft touches and a happy home, and she is now ready to live that dream.  If you can give Mollie the life she deserves, please apply online to adopt Mollie (AL) at www.rescuedogsrocknyc.org.  RDR's adoption fees include the cost of spay/neuter/microchip at an RDR-approved facility, whether completed before adoption or if deferred because the pet is too young or has a medical issue.  All pets are also current on age-appropriate vaccines at the time of adoption.   Given technical constraints on this database, this pet's location may not be as listed here. We can, however, provide transport support for pets in foster at a considerable distance from the adopter.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.June 6, 2023, 10:17 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. GENE was transferred to GaDaH from a shelter in Texas.  GENE is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, heartworm/tick tested negative. She is on monthly prevention, microchipped, has an estimated date of birth of 23 May 2022. We have no way of knowing what the actual breed is, so it is up to people to look at the pictures and video's to make up their own mind. We take a lot of pictures and videos and don't always have the time to post them on the dogs individual webpage and adoption site, so we ask that you go to the rescue  YouTube channel  and  photo albums on our Facebook page  to see a LOT of pictures and videos. GENE-Girl an energetic and intelligent Belgian Malinois mix with a zest for life. Despite being a mix breed, Gene-Girl possesses many of the distinctive qualities and needs associated with the Belgian Malinois breed. If you're an active individual or family seeking a devoted companion who thrives on structured exercise, mental stimulation, and training, Gene-Girl might be the perfect match for you. &#226&#128&#139Gene-Girl is a spirited and curious dog who approaches every day with enthusiasm. She is highly intelligent and loves to engage in mentally stimulating activities. This clever girl is quick to learn and eager to please, making her an excellent candidate for further training and obedience work. &#226&#128&#139She forms deep bonds with her humans and is known for her loyalty and affectionate nature. As a Belgian Malinois mix, &#226&#128&#139Gene-Girl requires an outlet for her abundant energy. She flourishes with plenty of exercise and mental challenges to keep her mind sharp and her body active. Daily walks, jogs, or hikes in nature are essential to meet her exercise requirements. Engaging in activities like agility, obedience training, and interactive play sessions will help channel her energy and ensure she remains a happy and well-balanced companion. &#226&#128&#139Gene-Girl is a highly trainable dog, and her intelligence and eagerness to please make her a joy to work with. She already shows promise in basic commands and leash manners, but continued training will help her reach her full potential. With positive reinforcement techniques and consistency, &#226&#128&#139she&#226&#128&#139 will excel in obedience training, providing a rewarding and fulfilling experience for both of you. &#226&#128&#139Gene-Girl &#226&#128&#139Bella thrives in an environment where her mental and physical needs are met. She is best suited for an active individual or family who can dedicate time to her exercise regimen and provide mental stimulation through training and interactive play. A securely fenced yard would be beneficial for her to burn off energy safely. While&#226&#128&#139 her mix breed heritage adds uniqueness to her appearance, it's important to understand and cater to her Belgian Malinois instincts and requirements. &#226&#128&#139Gene-Girl is great with other dogs, and has lived amongst all ages and sizes since being at the rescue. She does want to chase cats, but more in a curious manner. If you are prepared to embark on a rewarding journey with a remarkable companion, consider opening your heart and home to &#226&#128&#139Gene-Girl&#226&#128&#139. With the right environment, love, and care, &#226&#128&#139Gene-Girl&#226&#128&#139 will bring boundless joy, loyalty, and adventure into your life GENE is available for adoption from Give a Dog a Home Rescue in Sebec, Maine for an adoption fee of $550.   This adoption fee covers the cost of running a brick and mortar rescue as well as any transport, veterinary, food, treats, toys costs and the many expenses that rescues endure to keep the pets in their care safe, and happy.    Be sure to read all his information and if interested, go to the rescue website to submit an adoption application. https://www.giveadogahome-rescue.org/forms/form?formid=5838 The rescue buys food in bulk, by the truck load and there are a variety of brands and flavors.
