Story
We adopted Dakota as a puppy and has been around many people, kids and dogs her whole life. She is 3 1/2 years old. Very well behaved but still has a lot of energy. She would do well with another young dog that likes to play endlessly. We love her very much and want to see her go to a loving home. We are having a hard time with allergies in our house and it’s becoming unbearable, we’ve tried many things and none have worked so this is our last resort.

Story
Shadow is a very sweet boy, energetic boy who loves every person he comes across. He does wonderful with people of all ages, is playful with our cats and loves playing with other dogs. Unfortunately, he was recently diagnosed with hip dysplasia, and due to our family dynamic, and our large, energetic dog, our home cannot support the lifestyle he needs. While he does great with other dogs, shadow would really do best in a house that someone can give him one-on-one attention as our vet explained that due to his hip dysplasia, he should avoid sprinting, jumping and any high intensity play or exercise. His hip dysplasia will progressively worsen but at this point it is pain management for him. He is still a young dog, and we hate to euthanize him at this point if someone can give him a better life. Shadow would benefit from someone who can give him one on one attention, regular walks to help with his energy, and understands that he will need regular medication for managing the pain.

Story
Meet Lennox!! He is a little over a year old (born 10/22) German Shepherd mix who weighs 65 pounds! He is looking for his forever people. Lennox is a very active boy who will do well with clear instructions and consistency. He is working on the words “no, stay, sit, back off, leave it, drop it, house, and done”. He still has an occasional accident in the house especially when he is focused on play. He loves a good tennis ball and can play for hours. He is learning to walk without pulling, gets excited when he sees dogs his own size and seems to want to chase cats that run. He has lived with cats before, but testing is critical. In his foster home, he has a fenced in yard, but does not like to be out on his own. He really wants someone to play ball with him. Currently he is working on “house’ during the workday and ‘house’ overnight. He does well through the night, but he will bark for a short time until he settles down. He is still working on spending the day in the crate. He would thrive in an active family who could take him out for several walks or to play ball. He is a loving boy with a big heart, loves to cuddle on the couch, and did we mention he loves his tennis balls. If you would like to meet Lennox please fill out an application at www.rescueahart.org

Story
Hello, fantastic friends! I'm Vader, a 3-year-old with a heart of gold, celebrating my birthday on Dec. 5th! 🎉 Here's a glimpse into why I'm the perfect fit for your loving family: I'm a cuddle connoisseur, belly rub enthusiast, and expert kisser. Treats make my tail wag, and I'm a smart, gentle soul eager to please my new family. A certified conversationalist, I'll gaze into your eyes as we share our thoughts. Rescued with my brother Celery after a West Virginia tornado, my foster parents adored us. While they can only keep one of us due to some sibling logistics, I come with heaps of love, ready to capture your heart. I'm an 65lb Border Collie German Shepherd mix, currently living harmoniously with two fabulous female dogs. I'm open to meeting more furry friends, with a preference for females. Cats, however, aren't my cup of tea. Dreaming of a bustling home with kids and furry companions, a fenced-in yard or a sprawling farm would be ideal. I'm a Gary's Professional Dog Grooming and Training graduate, well-behaved, crate-trained, and ready to learn more. A bit of extra training won't hurt, but patience is my forte. I may need a gentle reminder for commands like "off," but my excitement is just a friendly jump. Seeking a loving, playful, and gentle giant? That's me! Let's embark on this journey together. If interested in meeting Vader please fill out an application at www.rescueahart.org.
