I had Leyo when he was 14 weeks old from a trailer house in Georgia. He was wandering around the trailer house full of fleas. I adopted him without hesitation. Then he became my best friend. He is my protector. As a former military, i found him providing safe space for me. He grew up with my kids- now 14 and 10. Just like any other dogs, he doesn’t want strangers touch him or get near our family. I am writing this without my kids’ knowledge as they will be devastated if they will know. He is very loyal, lovable and smart dog. This is very hard for me. :(

Hey there! I’m Honeysuckle! I’m a 9-month-old (as of September 2025), 44-pound German Shepherd mix with striking black and white fur… and a flair for adventure. I was found as a stray, which basically makes me a professional explorer! I’ve sniffed more sidewalks than most dogs dream of! Not bad for a young girl like myself! Fortunately, I was found by some caring people, and am looking to be placed in a loving home. I’m a friendly and curious gal and so far, I've really enjoyed the people (and other dogs!) I've met at AHOTO. Now, I am still a puppy so my manners are hit or miss and I have quite a bit of energy. I mean well but hey, what do you expect?! I've never had any proper training. I am smart though and I know I will catch on really quick so please give me a shot. I just need a family that is willing to take me to training and give me all the exercise and mental enrichment I need to be a happy and healthy pup - that way we can ALL live happily ever after! Yogi is a 3 year old husky/shepherd mix. This cutie pie has the resilience, loyalty, fun personality and stubbornness of both breeds. He is independent, opinionated at times, takes some time to adjust to new environments but an absolute pleasure to be around. He responds best to positive, force free training, and his future owner will have so much fun guiding him into becoming the best pup he can be. He walks well on a leash, likes his time outside sniffing, a total princess when it comes to stepping onto wet grass (he’ll act like his paws are on fire :P) and knows all the basic commands. He loves the snow, car rides, hiking and any trip involving nature for that matter. He is very soft and loves all kinds of belly rubs and petting. He is crate trained. He has a high prey drive, so no homes with cats or small animals. He is generally good with most dogs with proper introduction. Meet Lara! This 6-month-old, 45-pound sweetheart is an adorable mystery mix, we think she is part malinois/german shepherd, though your guess is as good as ours. She loves humans and other dogs. She’s a dog with a drive, and active engagement is how she’ll thrive, not outsourced puzzles or games. Lara is all about play. She has puppy energy and thinks everything is a toy including zooming kids. She will need guidance on gentle interactions; an owner who will commit to training as she still a very much a nippy/bitey puppy. Lara is incredibly smart and eager to learn. Farrah is a smart and playful 5 year old GSD. She loves playing fetch, chasing sticks, and digging snow balls. She is still trying to master her leash manners when she gets excited on a walk and starts to pull. She's a quick learner and practice makes perfect. Farrah knows her name and comes when called, she also rocks at her basic commands and is eager to please. She is crate trained and a talker when she needs to go out or wants to play. She is an excellent companion, sweet and loving and will gladly turn on her back for a belly rub. She will be by your side whether it's in the kitchen, doing chores outside or rocking a baby to sleep. She will need mental & physical exercise. MUST KNOW: Farah was purposely starved and confined to a very small crate 18hrs a day for at least 9 months before we were able to save her. The confinement contributed to stifle issues and she just had ACL repair to her right leg. While our vet believes she will be fine with crate rest, pain meds, anti inflammatory and joint supplements, the chances of Farah needing stifle stabilization surgery on her left leg is greater than average.
