Story
Hello friends, I'm Kaia! I'm a 1 year old, spayed female, German Shorthair Pointer and I currently weigh 51 lbs. I have a ton of energy and love to run zoomies any chance I get. Because I'm a working-type dog with a super amazing nose, I would like to go home with a family who is experienced with my breed. Don't get me wrong, I'm a total love bug as well! I'd be perfect for a family with adults or one with bigger kids and if you have any resident dogs, I'd love to meet the whole family before I move in. I'm ready for lots of adventures, training, and most of all, love! Kaia ID#A980489Unless otherwise indicated, adoptable animals are located at our Lantos Center for Compassion at 1450 Rollins Road, Burlingame, CA 94010.  You may call us at 650-340-7022 to schedule an appointment, or just drop by. Story
Blackjack: ~2 Years old male German Shorthaired Pointer/German Shepherd Mix 75 pounds Neutered Background: This young dog was found roaming the streets of Fairfield in early 2024. The finder notified the local animal control and made "found dog" postings but no one came to claim him. The finder decided to hold onto him during his stray hold period and contacted us for help finding him a new home. We shifted Blackjack to a Lab Rescue foster home in mid-2024. What Blackjack's Foster Says: Blackjack is a handsome ~2-year-old Lab-looking German Shepherd/German Shorthaired Pointer mix who’s 75 pounds of energy, affection, and fun. He may not be a Labrador Retriever, but Blackjack is one-of-a-kind! This resilient, affectionate, and fun-loving boy has all the makings of a devoted family member and is ready to be your next adventure buddy. With a little time and patience, Blackjack will reward you with endless love and companionship. Outdoor Adventurer: Blackjack loves to run, play, and explore. Whether it’s chasing squirrels, splashing in the kiddie pool, fetching rocks, or enjoying the fresh air, he’s happiest with plenty of room to stretch his legs. Big Personality: Equal parts goofy and sweet, Blackjack will keep you laughing with his antics and melt your heart with his loyalty. Morning belly rubs are his favorite way to start the day! Adventurer in Training: He is eager to go on walks, though he’s still refining his leash manners. With slow introductions, Blackjack enjoys meeting new people and dogs. Trips to Home Depot are a favorite—he loves exploring new sights and smells! Smart and Eager to Learn: This bright boy responds well to structure and consistency. He’s ready to shine with a committed owner who will guide him. What Blackjack's Rescue Rep Says: Blackjack is searching for an experienced dog owner who can offer him a loving home with the structure, patience, and training he needs to thrive. He’d do well in a suburban or rural setting with plenty of space to run, where he can fully enjoy outdoor adventures and live his best life. He’d also thrive with another dog or kids to play with, but he’s not a fit for first-time dog owners, a home with cats, or urban living. Despite his rough start, Blackjack has blossomed into a loving, loyal dog with so much to offer. He’s smart, eager to learn, and ready to be the heart of your home. If you’re ready to welcome an affectionate, energetic, and loyal companion into your life, Blackjack is waiting to meet you. If you think this amazing dog might be the one for you, reach out to learn more about him and arrange a meeting. Blackjack can’t wait to find his forever family! Medical: In great health. Current on vaccinations, heartworm negative, microchipped, and neutered. Located In: Placerville (totally worth the drive) If you want to adopt Blackjack, please contact Rescue Rep Dave at david.c.ely@sbcglobal.net.

Story
We are looking for a loving home for our 16-month-old German Shepherd/Husky mix, Obi (DNA results available). He is fully vaccinated, potty trained, and comes with all medical records. He is microchipped (not yet activated). We have had Obi since he was a few months old. He has grown up with our four children (ages 16, 12, 7, and 3). Sadly, our children have developed serious dog allergies, making rehoming necessary. Obi is very friendly, affectionate, great with kids and other animals, and loves hugs. He sometimes jumps up to show love. He enjoys running and playing fetch and would do best in a home with a backyard and space to play. We are looking for a safe, loving home where he will be treated as family. A small rehoming fee may apply. Please message if interested.

Story
Meet Elliot, an adventurous and playful pup looking for an active home where he can learn, play, and grow! Personality and TemperamentElliot is bold, curious, and full of personality. He’s always alert to what’s happening around him—especially if there’s a squirrel or bird nearby. He enjoys being near his people and is learning to relax more during downtime. Elliot loves praise, is very food-motivated, and responds well to consistent training. Elliot is crate-trained and settles well when left alone Exercise and Activity RequirementsElliot is an energetic, athletic dog who thrives on daily activity. He enjoys a 2-mile walk each morning, plenty of yard play, and short bursts of high-energy fun like wrestling and chasing the flirt pole. He also loves using his nose for scent games and tracking. Elliot does best with both physical and mental enrichment and would make a great companion for an active person or family who enjoys outdoor adventures. Other Dogs and AnimalsElliot has been making good progress with his social skills around other dogs. He’s generally neutral after the initial excitement and settles quickly once given space. In tighter situations, he may give a small warning to communicate his boundaries. Elliot could live with a well-matched, respectful dog, but due to his high prey drive, a home without small animals would be best. Training Elliot has been working on his basic cues like sit and down and even picked up a few tricks such as spin. He recently tried bikejoring and did great—showing how much he enjoys having a job and staying active. The Ideal Home for ElliotElliot would do best with an active adopter who enjoys keeping their dog physically and mentally engaged. He’d be a great fit for someone experienced with energetic breeds and committed to positive training. He’ll benefit from an adopter who can help him continue building confidence around other dogs. A home without small animals is best. Our adoption process begins with our adoption questionnaire: https://norcalgsprescue.org/adoption-questionnaire/ (Please note that we adopt primarily within Northern California and our minimum age for kids is 6) If you'd like to see what Elliot's been up to, check out his posting in the Available Foster Dogs section: https://norcalgsprescue.org/available-dogs/. That's where you'll find all the latest info about all of our available dogs. Story
Meet GeraldGerald is a 9-year-old, 65-pound German Shorthaired Pointer with a goofy streak and a big love for people. He’s the kind of dog who makes you smile—especially when he’s trotting around with a stuffed animal or eagerly dropping a ball at your feet for one more throw. Gerald has settled into his foster home well. The first few days were a bit overwhelming for him and he was understandably cautious, but he’s quickly found his footing and is showing his easygoing, affectionate personality. He loves attention, especially chin rubs, and is happiest when he’s included in whatever you’re doing. Despite being a senior, Gerald still enjoys staying active. He gets a daily walk and loves playing chase and fetch—seriously, fetch is a favorite. He brings the ball back, lets you take it, and is ready to go again until your arm gives out. He could benefit from a bit more structured exercise, which will help keep both his body and mind happy. In the house, Gerald is doing well with his manners. He’s house-training nicely and he lets his people know when he needs to go outside. He stays inside the home when left alone and is currently comfortable being on his own for up to four hours. He’s still adjusting to spending time alone, and continues to improve. Gerald knows how to sit and is learning “stay.” On leash, he’s a tall, strong boy and is working on reducing pulling—he’s already making progress. One thing to know about Gerald is that he is very food motivated and can be a bit obsessed with food. In his foster home, he has shown some treat guarding around the resident female dog, which may be related to past hunger or uncertainty. Because of this, he would do best as a solo dog or with a well-matched canine companion and an experienced owner who can manage feeding and treat time thoughtfully. Gerald loves people of all ages and has done well with children ranging from 9 and 11 years old to teenagers. He’s friendly meeting other dogs and likes to say hello. He is not a fit for a home with cats. Gerald would thrive in a home that appreciates a slightly goofy, affectionate GSP who still enjoys playtime but also knows how to relax and enjoy the comforts of home and humans. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who loves fetch, people, and being part of the family, Gerald may be your guy. Our adoption process begins with our adoption questionnaire: https://norcalgsprescue.org/adoption-questionnaire/ (Please note that we adopt primarily within Northern California and our minimum age for kids is 6) If you'd like to see what Gerald's been up to, check out his posting in the Available Foster Dogs section: https://norcalgsprescue.org/available-dogs/. That's where you'll find all the latest info about all of our available dogs.
