Story
My name is Javi. I am a big, solid, handsome boy! I was being surrendered to a high kill shelter with my sisters when I was saved at the last second...in the parking lot....before we entered the pound :) Now THAT is a RESCUE STORY!!! I am a BIG boy with a soft heart. I love to snuggle and get love from all the dogs in my foster home. I am a little slower to cuddle with my people until I know you are MY people! I am still shyer than my sisters from our ruff beginning. However, I have been working hard to learn to love and trust like sissies and am ready for YOU!! I especially love the tiny one who doesn't get that I'm just a giant teddy bear. I have the most adorable eyes and get so excited for treats, in fact kids are my FAVORITE :) Have you ever tasted their fingers?? Chicken nuggets and Cheerios ALL DAY LONG!! but I digress..... I want my furever family, little ones included and so if you like BIG BIG DOGS, APPLY!!! I am going to be WELL over 100# so must love BIG MUTTS! Some basic information about Javi; he is male, Great Dane/ Labrador Retriever mix, and is expected to be extra large sized, 100+ when fully grown. I am smart and sweet and will be great with another dog to play with, a confident and social dog will help me be social too. Local adoption fee is $250 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $500 (includes transport to your area - $50 Temporary Fuel Charge will be added)

Story
Hello, My name is Houston! My mom and dad have to move and unfortunately I will not be able to come with them due to my size. Even though I am a big boy, I am really just a big baby! I love to be with my family and love to help them everywhere they go in the house. My favorite activities include playing with my stuffed animals by either playing with tug or catch. I do love to be outside and watch the neighbors and other animals. I do know my commands but definitely need to work on them consistently. I walk very well on my leash but can get very distracted when I see other animals or people. I want to play with them so bad that I sometimes will pull to say hello. I love to play with my human sisters. They are very good at giving me rubs when I need some attention. I do have an older brother who is a beagle mix. I like to play with him but he doesn't play much as he is very old. My other brother is a cat. He is very fluffy and I do like to chase him around the house from time to time.

Story
When my owners no longer wanted me they took me, to SPCA Cincinnati and tied me to their gate and left me! The next morning when the shelter workers showed up, they contacted Cincinnati Animal Care so I could serve my stray time. When my stray time was up the shelter contacted Harlequin Haven Great Dane Rescue to come for me. Within hours I was here at the rescue. Update 10/24: Well I got neutered today and NOW Grandma says I need to work on my manners before I can find my forever home. Hummmm I guess that means I need to be better with everyone not just her. Update 11/02: I am NOW ready for adoption!! I am still working on my manners but I am getting better everyday. Update 11/06: I look really good chilling on the loveseat don't I!

Story
Bryce and I were thrown out in Cheviot to fend for ourselves but after dodging cars for several hours the wonderful Cheviot Police Department was able to get us both to safety and handed us safely over to the dog warden at Cincinnati Animal Care. It is apparent that our owner was either unable or just not taking care of us as we both are at least 30 pounds under weight, and I have horrible hair loss and trust me I was freezing when we were running the streets. As soon as our stray time was up Harlequin Haven was there to pick us up. We now are sleeping on soft beds; we have tons of toys, and we are eating 5 meals per day!!! I am not sure what I appreciate the most the warm housing and soft bed or the food? Of course, with the Thanksgiving Holiday tomorrow I will have to wait to go to the vet till next week, but I have already been started on antibiotics! Update 11/24: Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!! I love eating and I love laying on the loveseat!! Unfortunately, my trip to the vet will be delayed I now have kennel cough and am being treated for it as well as my lack of hair!! Update 12/02: Well great news!! Since I was already on antibiotics for my skin issues it helped me get over my kennel cough!! I am feeling much better and I am enjoying snuggling with Grandma or anyone that is hanging around!! Update 12/02: I just got home from going to the vet's office. I am loaded with whip worms and according to my bloodwork I still have some infection in my body. So, I will be changing my antibiotics and yep Bryce and I are going to be wormed. That sounds disgusting. But Grandma says I will feel better soon! Update 12/17: I am feeling much better!! I have been wormed twice and I am gaining weight much better but unfortunately my hair is not coming back as quickly as I would like!! Ya know it is too cold outside not to have a full body of hair!! Update 1/15: Sorry for the delay it has been a hectic month!! My hair is back, I have gained all my weight and I was neutered and NOW that Santa gave me a bunch of new toys I am playing every day with my toys!! I am a very sweet and loving boy and just want a forever home that will love me as much as I will love them!! Also, although I love Bryce if we do not get adopted together that is okay we both just want to be happy!! Update 4/17: Bryce and I have some wonderful news we want to share with the world!! Grandma and the directors of Harlequin Haven have agreed that we are a bonded pair!! If ya did not know what that means, well it means we must be adopted together!!! I love Bryce and he loves me and we have been through a lot together and we decided it is together or nothing!! Thanks for understanding!! Update 5/14: Bryce & I are still waiting for our forever home. We decided that maybe seeing us together might help, Yes I also added a couple of myself so you can see how handsome and healthy I am. Check out the pics below. We are the perfect pair! HEY if you do not believe me ask Grandma!!

Unfortunately because we were so undernourished and stressed we both got kennel cough. We are being treated for it now. Update 11/24: Hey I may have been starving but I am still proud and regal. Update 12/2: I have finally gotten over my kennel cough and am just working on gaining weight. Well actually I am playing a LOT!!! I have so many toys and I have yet to figure out which one is the most fun!! PLUS, Grandma said Santa would be coming and he would bring me more toys!!! I only have 1 question who is Santa? Update 12/17: I only have maybe 5 pounds left to gain and then on January 10 I will be neutered! Although I do not understand the neutered part I sure am enjoying gaining weight!! I am counting down the days until Santa comes, although I still do not know who he is it does not matter as long as he brings me more toys!!! Have I told you I LOVE TOYS!!! Update 1/15: Well I have gained all my weight and I have been neutered and I got a bunch of new toys from Santa and life is great!! NOW all I need is a forever home!! Grandma says she can describe me in 1 word "Happy"! So if you want a Happy boy you want to adopt me!! Update 4/17: Bryan and I have some GREAT NEWS our wishes are being granted. Grandma and the directors of Harlequin Haven have agreed that Bryan and I are a bonded pair and must be adopted together!! Although at first we thought we would accept being separated we decided we love each other and want to stay together!! Update 5/14: Bryan & I are still waiting for our forever home. Story
Quinn is super sweet but very skittish. He needs time to learn to trust. He is NOT good with small animals or kids. He may do ok with a larger non dominant dog but that will just depend on how he feels about them. He is housebroke, crate trained, and answers to his name. He will need a lot of on going socialization. Along with his socialization needs, Quinn has some undiagnosed health issues. It is thought to be a form of myopathy at this time. Unfortunately, there isn't a one and done test that will give a true diagnosis. He will need to stay on a specific food, and most likely will require life long daily medications.  If you are interested in meeting and/or adopting this baby, please fill out an application. They currently are fixed, up to date on shots, wormings, preventatives and are microchipped (with lifetime registration). Adoption fee is $200 with approved application, applications can be filled out at this link. https://www.petstablished.com/adoption_form/10167/generic .We cannot guarantee breed or size when full grown. ##1604201##
