Clipped, flushed with dilute chlorhexidine solution. Flushed wound with sterile saline. Sterile scrub of skin surrounding laceration. Debride entire open tissue area until bleeding occurred. Trimmed edges of skin with suture scissors. Flushed again with sterile saline. Closed muscle layer with 2-0 PDS in simple continuous pattern. Closed skin with 2-0 PDS in subcuticular pattern. Placed drain tube prior to closure. Skin sutures placed, 2-0 in simple interrupted pattering. Remove drain in ~2 days and remove sutures in ~10 days.Start on Clavamox and Carprofen.UPDATED 1/2-P was able to get e-collar off and wound is now partially open, AAS will not have a DVM until 01/05/2026. Cleared for immediate medical release. Make sure Rx goes with him if rescued.Heartworm PositiveBehavior notes: body low, flinches when touched, nervous shedding, pupils dilated, pulls leash forward, slightly fearful and shy.RESCUE ONLY due to medical needs and behaviors in the shelter.

Meet Zilla!Zilla is a gorgeous 6 1/2 year old Great Dane Mix, who weighs 77 pounds, is spayed and current with all her vaccines. She is the perfect companion for anyone looking for a loving furry friend. Zilla is past the puppy terrors and loves chilling or cuddling with people of all ages. She is crate trained, but doesn`t really ever need to be crated. She is potty trained and knows how to use a doggie door. She does have a little separation anxiety at times, because she loves being around people so much. She loves going for walks or hikes, whatever you want to do she is game. She is also a movie buff and loves snuggling up on the couch with a good film. Or, if you prefer a more relaxed vibe, She can people-watch from a patio while you sip a glass of wine. Whatever your preferences, She`s happy to be your furry sidekick. Sammy is a gentle, sweet senior boy looking for a soft place to land and enjoy his golden years. He was previously adopted into a loving home, but due to circumstances beyond his control—his adopter needing to focus on her own health—Sammy is now in need of a foster home. Sammy has a calm, low-energy personality with occasional goofy moments that will make you smile. He enjoys the company of other dogs and will sometimes engage in a short game of chase, but he’s just as happy relaxing nearby. One of his favorite things is giving “hugs” by resting his head on your shoulder. Sammy’s highlights: -Great with kids -Good with other dogs -Cats unknown -Low-energy and easygoing -Does not counter surf -Minimal licking, but a champion drooler As a senior, Sammy has some typical age-related needs. 529 days without a forever home. 529 days ago Razoo came into the shelter as a stray and he’s been looking for his place in this world ever since. He survived the streets. He survived the euthanasia list. He survived heartworm treatment. He’s learned what it’s like to live inside a home and that there are good humans out there who won’t hurt him. Now he just needs HIS human to find him🖤. ————————————————————— Razoo is 3 years old, 80 pounds, neutered, fully-vaccinated, microchipped, house-trained, crate-trained, and been treated for heartworms. He has done well with the other dogs in his foster home and loves his person (he will show you how much he loves you by wrapping his long arms around your entire body). When he came into the shelter he was terrified of being leashed. His foster has been dedicated to his training and desensitizing him to collars, leashes, etc. He has made leaps and bounds in his progress and he happily wore a bow tie for his photo shoot and gladly accepted head scratches from the photographer.
