Story
Kirby is an 8 month old, 45 lb Great Dane/Border Collie mix, but the breed mix is just our best guess. She is such a special pup and a favorite with everyone who meets her! She is growing like a weed, and we think she will weigh about 60-65 lbs when full grown. Kirby is going thru her long legged, lanky, clumsy puppy stage, and she is so much fun! Kirby is friendly with everyone she meets, people and other dogs included. She even gets along with the two cats in her foster home. She is playful, smart, super sweet and cuddly. Kirby still jumps up when excited, so we are recommending no kids under the age of 6. She loves to sleep snuggled up to the resident dog at her foster home. She would love to have another dog in her new home, but she will be fine as an only dog too. Kirby is completely potty trained, and she is smart and ready to learn new things, especially for a little treat as a reward. If you are interested in meeting Kirby, please submit your application, and an adoption counselor will contact you.

Story
Cookie is being fostered in PA. Hi, I'm Cookie and you are about to fall in love with me. I am such a great puppy. I love to play and snuggle and give my foster mom kisses. My sister is for adoption too but I'm cuter, if I do say so myself! Everyone thinks that I was the runt of the litter but that's okay, I might be small for a Great Dane but I have a big personality to make up for it. I came to BDRA with two owie eyes that are gone now and I feel oh so much better. I can finally run around like a regular puppy and play with all my toys - and I am just a little bit spoiled with all the toys that I have! At night I like to cuddle up in bed with my foster mom and my baby blanket. Sometimes I will even suckle on it in my sleep. Other times I will sleep with one of my babies in my mouth. I don't like being put in a crate but I understand that I have to for my own safety. Just know that I am going to cry and if you live in an apartment, well, your neighbors are not going to like me very much. I am a gentle giant, I am very gentle with my toys but right now I am living with a bunch of little dogs so I don't realize how big I really am. Sometimes my big paws step on them and they don't really like that so maybe my family shouldn't have any little dogs. I just want a family to love me and someone to play with, it can be your dog, or if you don't have a dog, my sister and I get along great. We would love to stay together but don't have to be. I will play with anyone around my size. Right now I'm only 30 pounds but I have a growth spurt coming, I just know it! So those are all the great things about me but my foster mom said that I have to tell you the not so good stuff too. I am still not completely housebroken. When I wake up from a nap I really have to go potty and if you don't get me outside right away I sometimes have oopsies. I also had some tummy issues when I first came to my temporary home. My foster mom tried all types of things trying to figure it out and it seems the stress of moving away from the rest of my litter was a bit too much for me. It takes me a little while to get my tummy all settled but it does settle down. When I eat I am going to try to gobble everything up so my foster mom puts my food in a puzzle bowl that I will take with me and only gives me a little bit at a time. I don't like that very much but she says it's for my own good. After I eat I have belly resting time. My foster mom will lay down with me and rub my belly so I don't get an upset tummy. I'm a very good girl during belly resting time. My foster mom calls me Cookie Puss when I'm being good and Cookie Monster when I'm getting into all those things that puppies like to get into. I would rather chew on your shoe than a toy. If I'm not supposed to play with it, then it's my favorite thing to play with! I am also teething right now so I want to nibble on fingers, toes, your nose, anything that tastes yummy. My foster mom says that she is going to miss me very much but I deserve to live with a family that has another puppy or young dog for me to play with and even a kid or two. BDRA has voted against the use of electrical fencing effective immediately.

Story
Rumple is being fostered in PA. Rumple had one eye removed but can see just fine with the other eye. Hi, I am Rumple or as my foster family lovingly calls me “Rump! I am 4months old, crate trained, and leash trained. I am currently working on perfecting my potty-training skills and basic commands. I am very praise and food motivated. I love to run and play in the yard with my foster siblings. I am good with other animals big and small. I love the resident kitties and want to play with them but yeah, not so much…and to my foster families (and kitties) surprise I have not only learned but PAWFECTED the art of stairs like a pro! I am searching for a home with either another doggy to play with or an active family that can help me run off my energy. I am still a very young puppy so patience with my continuing work to perfect potty training, puppy antics and command training is of the utmost importance. Oh and I recently had to have one of my eyes removed but my foster family says that only gives me more character or I am a character, I’m not sure which. However, my foster momma said that I adjusted just fine and that I recovered like a champ. BDRA has voted against the use of electrical fencing effective immediately.

Sam is a total sweet heart and loves her people very much. She can be a bit high energy. Like many Great Danes she’s still not aware of her size. I rescued her from a neighbor just over a year ago and I cannot keep her due to me moving at the end of the month. She’s never been aggressive in any capacity. Just a sweet girl who needs a forever home. Preferably a family that can give her lots of attention or a couple who has a lot of free time.

Story
Whitney is a beautiful designer dane who is a love bug. She has had some training and is house crate and leash trained. She has lived with several dogs of all sizes, horses and adult humans. She is respectful of the baby gate and loves to sunbathe with the other dogs. Whitney is very sweet and well mannered.. her mom was a dane and dad a great Pyrenees/ schnauzer mix. A true southern bell she hates the cold! Because Whitney has no idea of her size we are looking for a home without children and other medium/large dogs. Whitney is available for adoption in the Dallas / Fort Worth Metroplex Visit danerescue.net to find out more info about our adoption process and complete the adoption application.

Hi, my name is Pluto! I am 3 years old and fully grown at 73lbs. I am a neutered male who is microchipped, and fully vaccinated. My adoption fee is $75. You could describe me by a few of these characteristics: Energy level- Low/moderate. I could go for a a leisurely stroll.Affectionate- Let's snuggle!Strangers- I love meeting new people! House Manners- I do best when I have a consistent schedule and routine.Kids- I would do well in a home with children (5+)Dogs- Probably, with a proper introduction I could get along with most dogs. Cats- Unknown. I would probably do well with a cat given the correct introduction! Health- I have been treated for heartworm and am still recovering. Right now, I need my potty breaks to happen on leash in short bursts.
