Meet Gunner! He is a 4yr old neutered male Lab Retriever/Great Dane mix that weighs 101lbs. He came into the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 12/4 as an owner surrender. His owner passed away and there were no family members that could take him, so he has found himself at the shelter. He has been very well cared for. His coat is shiny and soft. He walks well on a leash, takes treats gently and does know the sit command. All the noise at the shelter does make him nervous so we are making sure he knows how much we will love and care for him until he finds his forever home. He enjoys being petted and will lean into you which gives him comfort. Tho he has lived with another dog, we do always ask if you have another dog in the home, please ask the shelter for a dog test. Gunner would need to have a secured yard to play in, and have a home, not an apartment where he lives indoors where he can be close to his human companions. He deserves to be cherished and loved as he was before. If you can offer him this, please come spend time with him.

***RESCUE ONLY***Meet Vincent! He is 8 to 9 year old Great Dane mix that weighs 105 lbs. He came into the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 12/1 as a stray. He is a very handsome boy, gentle and loving. He is rescue only as he is blind. His left eye appears to have possibly a recessed eye, and his right, he may can only see shadows. A vet visit can provide specific details. He has very quickly become a staff and volunteer favorite. He walks well on a leash and stays close to help guide him along the way. He has an interest in squeaky toys yet hasn`t found his favorite yet. He loves to be petted, hugged and given kisses. He uses his nose to take in all the smells and loves to hear you tell him what a great boy he is. He doesn`t jump, knows the sit command and takes treats gently. With the other dogs barking at him he has shown no reaction just continues on his merry way. He does need to gain some weight as well. He is quite the charmer. SANCTUARY DANE Meet Ireland! Due to behavioral issues, she is NOT available for adoption.Ireland is a four year old, Double Merle Great Dane who is deaf and vision impaired. She is house, leash and crate trained. We are working with her on basic commands.She gets along with dogs and doesn't show interest in cats. No young children for Ireland. She plays rough and just loves doing twirls and zoomies. She is fully vetted, vaccinated and microchipped. White Kisses GDR has a very small program for non adoptable Danes. All of our Sanctuary gentle giants have disabilities or are Double Merles. Due to behavior or medical they are not adoptable and will stay with WK for the rest of their lives.
