Story
It just doesn't get better than Cotton! He is gentle and he gets along with everybody. He was found as a stray and he is definitely happier holding down a couch & snarfing cookies in the AC than roaming around in this heat . He loves his dog & people friends, and is just generally a good time guy. He's very laid back and just likes to be around the family. He can't wait to finish his journey to his new forever home. Cotton is spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and current on flea/tick and heartworm preventative. He tested positive for heart worms, but he is scheduled to be treated and will be treated prior to leaving for his forever home. The adoption fee is $450 if your adoption is prepaid and final prior to your dog's arrival. An additional $50 will be charged on dogs that are picked up from our Southbury CT adoption center, adopted at an event, or foster home. This additional fee is necessary in order to comply with CT HB 5368. WANT TO MEET OUR DOGS IN PERSON? Check the Events tab on cprdogs.com for all weekend adoption event info. The majority of the dogs marked as 'meet me' will be there to see you! If you are a MA resident, your new family member is required to go through a mandatory 48 hour quarantine period at our Woburn MA isolation facility. Your new family member will be dropped off by our transport on Thursday and will be ready for you to pick him/her up on Saturday between 11 am-1 pm. An additional $100 fee will be added for any dogs picked up from the Woburn MA quarantine facility. This additional fee is necessary in order to comply with MA Order 405-CD-12 and Order 1-AHO-05. TO APPLY PLEASE GO TO www.cprdogs.com. If your application was successfully submitted you will get a confirmation. Please DO NOT USE the ADOPTAPET "CONTACT THIS RESCUE GROUP" form below or you may not hear from us as these often end up in spam or bouncing back. Story
Lea began her life being used as a puppy factory by a backyard breeder in rural West TN. CPR was contacted about taking a litter of puppies by the owner. When the CPR volunteer went to pick up the puppies, she noticed Lea, along with 3 other pyrs, and how terrible they appeared. Lea was skinny and covered in ticks and fleas. The CPR volunteer was able to convince the owner to surrender the 4 adult pyrs to CPR for fostering and adopting. Lea has flourished in foster care. None of the dogs were socialized much, so her foster family has been working to gain her trust. Lea LOVES hot dogs. Her daily hot dog treat has allowed her to gain trust in her foster family and she now enjoys being petted and having her belly rubbed. Lea would love to find a loving family of her own that will treat her like a family member and not an ATM. Lea is spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and current on flea/tick and heartworm preventative. This dog has tested negative for heartworms. The adoption fee is $450 if your adoption is prepaid and final prior to your dog's arrival. An additional $50 will be charged on dogs that are picked up from our Southbury CT adoption center, adopted at an event, or foster home. Story
Sweet Freckles has a sad backstory, but her future is looking bright. Freckles was used as a puppy factory by a backyard breeder in West TN. She did not get any socialization as she was growing up and this has caused her to be extremely shy and timid toward humans. The breeder contacted CPR about surrendering a litter of puppies. When the CPR volunteer went to pick the puppies up, she noticed what a terrible state Freckles, along with 3 other pyrs, were living in. The volunteer convinced the owner to surrender the adults along with the litter of puppies. Freckles was covered in fleas and ticks when she came to CPR. Due to the infestation, she had to be shaved down. She is starting to grow her coat out and also put on much-needed weight. When Freckles came to her foster home, she wouldn't get out of the car. She had to be carried to her pen area because she was so frightened and timid. It's been almost two months since Freckles came to her foster home and she is slowly warming up to her foster family. She is very treat motivated. She loves hot dogs. Every day, her foster dad can see the struggle in her eyes as she hovers just out of his reach. Freckles so wants to be loved and petted, but just can't seem to get over her fears. Freckles is in foster care with her sister Lea, who has warmed up completely to the foster family. Freckles desperately needs a soft place to land with people who will be patient with her as she works on trusting them. Freckles is spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and current on flea/tick and heartworm preventative. This dog has tested negative for heartworms. The adoption fee is $450 if your adoption is prepaid and final prior to your dog's arrival. Story
We would like you to meet Sully!   Sully is an 8 month old Great Pyrenees/Anatolian shepherd mix that is looking for his forever home. This big boy is already 80 pounds, so his forever family should be prepared for an extra large size pup! Sully is special needs as he is deaf. Luckily deafness in dogs is not a big deal, and there's many ways to connect and communicate with dogs besides words. Sully is good with other dogs and being fostered with several currently. He absolutely ADORES kids, but due to being deaf, kids in the home should be old enough to understand to not come up behind him and scare him. He is house broken. Sully is still working on crate training but he is picking it up quickly and will settle fairly well in a short amount of time. Sully has a moderate amount of energy and is happy just to be with his humans, in whatever form that is. Overall he is a calm and quiet dog! Sully has started to learn sign language and will need his forever family to continue to work with him on it. We would consider families without experience with deaf dogs, but would strongly recommend working with a trainer intially to get an understanding of how training a deaf dog works! Sully is truly a wonderful companion that is just looking for the perfect and patient forever home!   If you would like to welcome Sully into your home, Please visit our website and fill out an application. astdogrescue.com ##1816616##
