Story
Meet Valerie — a thoughtful, gentle soul who is learning just how safe and good the world can be. Valerie is a 9 month old Pyrenees/Shepherd mix and currently weighs 55 pounds. She has been working hard in training and making wonderful progress as she learns to trust. She’s a sensitive girl who approaches new people with caution, but with calm, positive introductions, her confidence continues to grow every day. Once she feels safe, Valerie shows her sweet, affectionate side and forms deep bonds with her people. Valerie would do best with an experienced dog owner who understands fearful dogs and is willing to go at her pace. She can be fearful of strangers initially, but patient, low-pressure interactions work wonders for her; sitting down, offering quiet encouragement and letting Valerie choose when to engage helps her feel secure and successful. In the home, Valerie is calm, well-mannered, and a joy to live with. She is house trained, crate trained, and walks nicely on leash. She enjoys relaxing with her person, quietly playing with her squeaky toys, and soaking up peaceful companionship. Valerie is also good with cats, and while she doesn’t need another dog in the home, she could do well with a confident, friendly canine companion who can help model bravery. Valerie loves the simple pleasures: long naps, gentle affection, hunting for acorns, splashing in the water, and stretching her legs in the sunshine. A home with a yard is her best fit, as she enjoys outdoor time and space to explore at her own pace. Apartment living would not be ideal for this nature-loving girl. Because Valerie thrives in calm, predictable environments, she would do best in a home with no children. Valerie is spayed, microchipped, fully vaccinated, and up to date on flea, tick and heartworm prevention. She’s a quiet, loyal companion who is blossoming more each day and with the right family, she’ll continue to shine. If you’re looking for a soft-hearted, devoted pup and are willing to let trust grow naturally, Valerie may be the perfect match for you. All of our adopted dogs are transported using only trusted, reputable transport partners to ensure a safe journey to their forever homes up North.

Axel Is Waiting… Could His Forever Home Be Yours?  At just 5.5 months, Axel is already learning what it means to be a good boy — now he just needs a family to call his own. This sweet, gentle pup is crate trained and house trained, and he has a wonderfully calm nature for such a young dog. Axel loves the simple things in life: playing with his toys, romping with other dogs, soaking up attention from people, and relaxing on the back deck while happily chewing on his favorite treats. He’s the kind of puppy who doesn’t need chaos to be happy — just kindness, companionship, and a place where he belongs.  He’s the kind of puppy who doesn’t need chaos to be happy — just kindness, companionship, and a place where he belongs. Story
Roly Poly is a precious little sweetheart with soft rolls, gentle eyes, and a peaceful puppy swagger. She loves slow snuggles, warm naps, and being loved just as she is. Her quiet sweetness and cuddly charm melt hearts everywhere she goes. Apply to adopt Roly Poly today at www.cprdogs.com. Upon application approval, we'll be happy to set up a meet and greet, or you can meet this lovely little lady at one of our Connecticut adoption events. This puppy Is spayed/neutered, up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations, treated for all of the intestinal parasites, and current on flea/tick and heartworm preventative. Because intestinal parasites are cyclical, your puppy may need additional treatment once you get him/her home. This is common and nothing to be alarmed about. Puppies and dogs need to be treated periodically for parasites throughout their entire lives. Visit our website to see our weekend Events here! Pups with the designated “meet me” next to their names are in CT and ready to attend adoption events. Please check with your adoption coordinator if you are interested in a specific dog prior to coming to an event, as a dog's availability to attend can change at any time. We can not guarantee approval on site at the events, so we recommend applying ahead of time. You can apply at the event, but the application process may not be able to be completed the same day. If you are not pre-approved, you are still welcome to come and meet pups at the event! The adoption fee is $600 which includes spay/neuter, up to date vaccinations, flea/tick and heartworm preventatives, and the mandatory CT HB 5368 fee. More and more of our adopters are having fun with DNA tests on their pups. You might ask yourself why our breed guess is varying degrees of difference from the DNA tests. Most of our puppies are rescued from high kill shelters or other abandonment situations and we have no info on parents. When we rescue puppies that have no background info, we make our very best educated guess as to breed mix and age. Our guesstimate comes from years and years and years of animal welfare work and training, but our guesses won't always agree with your vet, your neighbor, your DNA test, etc. The most important thing to know about your puppy's breed mix is that most likely he/she is a Super Lovable Mutt made of many many many different breeds. If you are a MA resident, your new family member is required to go through a mandatory 48 hour quarantine period at the Woburn MA isolation facility. Your new family member will be dropped off by our transport on Thursday and will be ready for you to pick him/her up on Saturday between 11 am-1 pm. An additional $100 fee will be added for any dogs picked up from the Woburn MA quarantine facility. This additional fee is necessary in order to comply with MA Order 405-CD-12 and Order 1-AHO-05. TO APPLY PLEASE GO TO www.cprdogs.com. If your application was successfully submitted you will get an automatically generated confirmation email. Please DO NOT USE the ADOPTAPET "CONTACT THIS RESCUE GROUP" form below or you may not hear from us as these often end up in spam or bouncing back. After receipt of your application, an adoption counselor will then be in touch to answer your questions about this pup, discuss the adoption process and get the ball rolling! If you have not heard from one of our volunteers within 5 days of submitting your application, please email mollibo@gmail.com.

Story
Cletus is a very good boy....so good that we refer to him as a certified good boy! He's also very mannerly and will "sit / shake" and knows "down". He loves to play with toys and doesn't mind keeping himself entertained with chew toys. This good boy is not only very good, but he's also very big! He weighs about 65 pounds, has catcher mitts for paws, and when he stands on his hind legs, he's close to 5"4" tall. Cletus came to us from a shelter in Lauderdale County TN where he had been waiting for rescue for quite some time. We don't have any history on him before he landed at the shelter, but we know for sure that something traumatized him around the neck area....whether he was chained (probably) or somebody was just too rough with him with a leash, he is NOT comfortable with a leash (such as slip lead). He's comfortable with a harness and leash, but he is not comfortable with a leash around his neck. And he will slip a slip lead in a heartbeat to get it off of his neck. We don't consider this quirk a problem, but we do want his adopters to be aware that if they are set on using a leash, it will take work and he will have to have a harness / leash while working on leash training. Our best advice is why make him uncomfortable and force leashing when you can just as easily harness him and everybody be comfortable and at ease when taking your walks together. Despite his big boy size, he will be fine in a home with children of all ages. He loves to snuggle and nap with his smaller human friends. He's good with other dogs, but he's really much more interested in human friends. He enjoys play dates and would be perfectly happy in a home with another dog pal, but he'd also be just as happy being an only. We aren't 100% sure about kitties, but he doesn't seem at all interested in the farm kitties. We aren't sure of his breed mix, and if you've been following Cletus for any amount of time, you'll notice that we've changed his breed mix a few times. That's not uncommon with rescue dogs for the rescue to be like.....well he could be this or he could be that so we just take our best guesses based on what we see physically and their personality. Cletus is a little more outgoing than your average GP so he might have more lab or golden in him. Whatever mix he is, we call him 100% good boy and that's all that really matters. :) Cletus is spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and current on flea/tick and heartworm preventative. All dogs 6 month + receive a Proheart 6 injection at the time of their heartworm test. This provides heartworm prevention for 6 months from the time of that injection. This dog has tested positive for heartworms and was treated. The adoption fee is $450 if your adoption is prepaid and final prior to your dog's arrival. An additional $50 will be charged on dogs that are adopted at an event, or foster home. This additional fee is necessary in order to comply with CT HB 5368. WANT TO MEET OUR DOGS IN PERSON? Story
Violet is a great dog but would prefer someone with a lot more time to be with her. I used to bring her back and forth to work with me and she was great but,y job has changed and she doesn't do well sitting in a house for extended periods of time. She LOVES kids and has no issues with my other 3 older dogs. She is about 3 yrs old and came up from the South. She loves to hang outside in a fenced yard or on a tie out. I unfortunately just don't have the time for her anymore and I want to do what is right for Violet.
