Story
Yuki is a 2 year old 86 pound Great Pyrenees! He is being fostered in Huntsville,AL and is available for transport and the approved adopter will be responsible for the transport fee. Yuki was primarily raised as an indoor pup without other pup playmates, so exhibits some stress when alone. He has loved being at his foster’s with a big yard and other dogs to play with. He does well with dogs of all sizes and has quickly realized and become sensitive to the fact that he is too large for some of his 20 lb playmates, which is really good. He has become pretty gentle in his few weeks at his fosters, primarily because he gets a lot of outdoor play time. He does need a pup playmate close to his size that provides him a since of security. He has been diagnosed with a seizure issue and takes daily medication, levetirace, for it. His foster is still learning about him, but so far, he is just a great happy boy. If you are interested in adopting Yuki please fill out an application on our website forrescue.net. He is being fostered in Huntsville, AL.

Story
Meet Valerie – The Gentle Black Beauty Born on April 13, 2025, Valerie’s start to life wasn’t easy. At just five months old, she and her sister, Della, were rescued by a kind Samaritan after being found abandoned in a culvert drain. When they first arrived, the pair trusted only each other. After a week to decompress, Della moved to a new foster home while Valerie stayed at the Good Catch Farm, where she soon made friends with all of the dogs in rescue. Valerie is a reserved, thoughtful girl who prefers to take her time warming up to new people and situations. She does best with slow introductions, and we’ve noticed she’s a bit cautious around tall men, likely a reminder of her past. Sitting down and letting her come to you works wonders for building trust. Her DNA results gave us insight into her nature; part Pyrenees and Shepherd, she has a strong, expressive bark that she uses sparingly but effectively when she’s uncertain or alerting to strangers. In the home, Valerie is the definition of calm and well-mannered. She enjoys lounging alongside her person with her squeaky toys, is house trained, crate trained and walks beautifully on leash. She’d do best in a home without small children; older kids who understand gentle introductions would be ideal. Valerie deserves every chance for success, and we’ll provide her adopters with all the guidance they need to help her continue to blossom. This sweet girl loves naps, quiet companionship, hunting for acorns and a good splash in the water. She’s gentle, affectionate and will surely thrive in a home that offers patience, soft words and the enrichment every young pup deserves. A home with a yard is her best match as she enjoys soaking up the sun and stretching her legs every morning. Apartment living would not suit her well. Valerie is spayed, microchipped, fully vaccinated and up-to-date on flea, tick and heartworm prevention. If you’re looking for a calm, loyal companion who’s ready to share her heart, Valerie may be your perfect match. All of our adopted dogs are transported using only trusted, reputable transport partners to ensure a safe journey to their forever homes up North.

Story
Morty is an all around Very Good Boy and he's looking for a home of his own! We honestly aren't entirely sure about his breed combo- we're making our best estimation based on his appearance and his double dew claws, but wouldn't be surprised to be proven wrong with a DNA test. What we do know for sure is that this 1-2 yr old, 55 lb, absolutely handsome guy is going to make a really wonderful new family member. He loves people, he gets along great with other dogs, he has a fun amount of energy (enjoys regular walks and playing around outdoors, but won't require a 5 mile run daily), and he has a great personality. He recently visited the animal sciences department at the local college and was a HUGE hit with the students and made lots of friends. He is doing great in foster care- he is potty trained, crate trained, sits on command, and overall has great manners in the house. Morty is going to make a great addition to his new home and if you'd like to meet him, we'd love to hear from you! Morty is spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and current on flea/tick and heartworm preventative. All dogs 6 month + receive a Proheart 6 injection at the time of their heartworm test. This provides heartworm prevention for 6 months from the time of that injection. The adoption fee is $500 which includes spay/neuter, up to date vaccinations, flea/tick and heartworm preventatives, and the mandatory CT HB 5368 fee. This dog tested negative for heartworms. Visit our website to see our weekend Events here! Pups with the designated “meet me” next to their names are in CT and ready to attend adoption events. Please check with your adoption coordinator if you are interested in a specific dog prior to coming to an event, as a dog's availability to attend can change at any time. We can not guarantee approval on site at the events, so we recommend applying ahead of time. You can apply at the event, but the application process may not be able to be completed the same day. If you are not pre-approved, you are still welcome to come and meet pups at the event! If you are a MA resident, your new family member is required to go through a mandatory 48 hour quarantine period at our Woburn MA isolation facility. Your new family member will be dropped off by our transport on Thursday and will be ready for you to pick him/her up on Saturday between 11 am-1 pm. An additional $100 fee will be added for any dogs picked up from the Woburn MA quarantine facility. This additional fee is necessary in order to comply with MA Order 405-CD-12 and Order 1-AHO-05. TO APPLY PLEASE GO TO www.cprdogs.com. If your application was successfully submitted you will get a confirmation. Please DO NOT USE the ADOPTAPET "CONTACT THIS RESCUE GROUP" form below or you may not hear from us as these often end up in spam or bouncing back. After receipt of your application, an adoption counselor will then be in touch to answer your questions about this pup, discuss the adoption process and get the ball rolling! If you have not heard from one of our volunteers within 5 days of submitting your application, please email mollibo@gmail.com.

Story
There was a kind man in AL named Billy who loved dogs and thought he would start his own rescue. Things went along okay for a while until Billy found himself overwhelmed with the number of dogs in his care. When he became severely ill and could no longer care for the large number of dogs he accumulated, he reached out for help and we welcomed Wendy to our rescue. While initially shy, Wendy is starting to feel more confident and seeks human attention. Heather, one of our southern volunteers, shared, "She clatters her teeth together from anticipation and excitement like when I walk in. It's like she is so happy to see me that she cannot contain her joy! She craves attention and affection and is extremely sweet. I have walked her around a couple of times on a leash and she doesn’t pull, but she doesn’t know what to do so she weaves a little bit, but I think with some training she will get the hang of it quickly. She loves treats and eagerly accepts them with a gentle mouth. She gets on her rear legs and tries to dance with me. She’s a real hugger. While I discourage her from jumping, it’s awfully loving, so I hug her from a lower level. She's a real gem!" Like many dogs who come from less than ideal backgrounds, Wendy will need some time to settle in when arrives at her new home. Once she does, you can bet she will sparkle and shine like the sun! And just look at those kind and intelligent eyes - they seem to look right into your heart! Wendy is believed to be a Great Pyrenees mix and is estimated to be about 8 years old. She weighs 72 lbs, is micro-chipped, spayed, and up to date on vaccinations. Wendy is heartworm negative and has been given a Proheart 6 injection for 6 months of heartworm prevention. She is good with other dogs but smaller animals are a bit too interesting for comfort. Wendy is in a foster home in New England and is ready to meet you. If you would like to give Wendy the best years of her life and you are already approved to adopt through SGRR, please contact Mary to be considered. If you are not yet approved, please visit our website to fill out an application! Rescued dogs come with a range of needs - from behavioral to emotional to medical. When approved applicants adopt such dogs, they agree to become an important, forever part of their life journey by continuing the rehabilitation we have begun. If not yet approved for adoption, please visit our website to learn more and to submit an online application. Click here to visit our website. Please contact us with any questions regarding your application status. PLEASE APPLY by submitting an application via this online link: Click for Adoption Application About Our Rescue Before being approved to adopt, all potential adopters need to complete our online application and participate in our pre-adoption review process. The process includes the completion of an online application, a reference from the applicants' vet, a phone interview, and a visit to the applicants' home. The application process helps us determine what type of Golden would be best suited for the applicants' life style. In some cases, the specific dog you are interested in may have found a home before this process is complete or further assessment may find that this dog is not the right match for your family. We are regularly getting new Goldens in need of a home, so we encourage you to apply and get approved so that when the right dog comes along you will be ready. The information provided on each dog is based on observations of our vets, volunteers, fosters and when available, trainers. While we do our best to report any and all issues, SGRR does not make any guarantees as to the health or temperament of any dog. Dogs evolve differently in different environments and we cannot predict with any certainty how the dog you adopt will act in your home. ADOPTION FEES - Effective of October 1, 2024 PUREBRED DOGS Purebred puppies, up to 6 months $1000 Purebred dogs, 6 months - 6 years $800 Purebred dogs, 7 - 9 years $650 Purebred dogs, 10 years and up $550 Young dogs with special needs $650 Senior dogs with special needs $500 Pairs of Purebred Puppies, up to 6 months $1600 Bonded pair - young purebred dogs $1400 Bonded pair - senior dogs 7 years & up $1000 MIXED BREED DOGS Up to 6 months $850 6 months - 6 years $750 7 - 9 years $650 10 years and up $550 Young dogs with special needs $650 Senior dogs with special needs $500 Bonded pair - young dogs $1000 Bonded pair - senior dogs 7 years & up $900 A contract is signed the day of adoption. Under the terms of the contract, all adopters are required to bring the rescue to a vet within 7 business days. The dogs receive basic veterinary care prior to adoption. If your vet identifies an illness that an adopter is not willing to treat, then the dog is returned and a full refund is provided. Many of our dogs are fostered in private homes and we do not have a facility to visit. We are committed to our dogs before, during, and after adoption! The rescue retains title to the dog and can never be released or sold. Should the adopters no longer be able to keep the dog, SGRR must be notified so that we can take the dog back into rescue and place it into another home. We reserve the right to remove a dog at any time should we find the adopter is no longer caring for their Golden in a way we see fit. Adopters then have to agree to follow up visits as needed. Please be a ray of light for this Sunshine dog and make a tax deductible donation toward medical and other expenses. Every cent of your generosity goes directly toward the care of a Sunshine dog. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please note that we can not guarantee the age, expected weight or breed of any animal. What we provide is our best estimates based on our experience and the information provided by the our medical partners. If breed and eventual size are of great importance we suggest looking into a breed specific rescue or adopting a full grown animal. Unless otherwise noted, ALL animals are fostered and available for adoption on Long Island, NY.  Biscuit is a sweet, sweet dog. Always looking for some pets and love. Not super high energy but does love to run in the yard with my larger dog. He gets super excited when anyone in the house comes home, He attaches very well to the household residents. He is happy to snuggle on the sofa for hours. He sleeps on a dog bed in the bedroom.  He is also fine to stay in his crate. He can be left in the house alone when no one is home and he is always just snuggled up sleeping. He loves his cozy sweaters and has a blast playing in the snow. He loves car rides too.   He has not been around smaller dogs or cats.  He does chase squirrels and birds in the yard, always!    Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 21, 2025, 10:01 am
