Hello, I'm Mo! I'm the sweetest, friendliest, most curious dog you'll ever meet. I've lived most of my life outdoors, so I could adapt again to that life or life inside loving you. I do good in a kennel and seem to be pretty well potty-trained. I'm selective about other dogs so a proper introduction is a must. I absolutely LOVE my belly rubbed. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! When she meets someone new she wiggles her butt in excitement but doesn't jump and on walks she tries to get every person who passes to stop and pet her. She loves to cuddle and for being only 9 months old is already pretty calm, she understands a rainy day curled up on the couch. She is dog friendly but is more interested in people than other dogs so she could be a single dog or in a multidog household. She is housebroken and met a cat once and was gentle and just sniffed him although she hasn't spent significant time with a cat. Now the reason why Ginger is with us is was fired from her job of farm dog because she liked to escape and developed a taste for chicken. Her foster hasn't had issues but is always on the porch when she is outside. This girl is so friendly and loving she will make a great addition to any home. Meet this beautiful fluffy girl today! Bear is a 6 year old neutered male Great Pyrenees mix. He was adopted as a puppy from the Humane Society. He is an indoor dog but enjoys being outside in our large fenced-in yard surveying the property. Bear has anxiety and takes daily anxiety medication. Because of Bear's anxiety he does have some behavioral issues. He's fine with our 10 year old spayed female Rottweiler mix who he has lived with since we adopted him. However, he has attacked 2 other dogs. One was a small neighborhood dog that he attacked when we had a pet-sitter watching him. The other was my boyfriend's neutered male 11 year old husky-corgi. Because of this (both of which the other dogs needed stitches) I would not recommend putting Bear in a home with other dogs. Bear has lived with 4 cats since we've owned him and is fine with cats. Bear has lived with my 3 children (13, 10, & 7) but has recently past year) started growling and snapping at my 7 year old. Because of this I wouldn't recommend him with young kids.

I got Fenrir about three years ago. He is the sweetest most loving dog, and gets along with other pets very easily. He walks great on a leash, and is a very well mannered and listens. I recently moved and am now caring for him alone and I don't have the time for him anymore and it just isn’t fair to him. I listed him as special needs due to his sensitive skin. He has been dealing with skin infections so he needs someone who is willing to put time into that and help him feel his best again. I love him to death. I love him enough to let him go if it’s what’s best for him.

Zita is the last remaining pup available for adoption from our Marley's Miracles litter of ten. Mama Marley was a Great Pyrenees who passed away from sepsis when the pups were just a couple of days old. The father was an Anatolian Shepherd mix. 1 year old Zita is an energetic girl. She gets the zoomies all the time and we love to watch her long legs run! Besides playing with the dogs in her foster home, one of Zita's favorite activities is chewing on a multitude of toys. She loves to tear apart stuffed animals, but doesn't eat the stuffing. Shy and reserved when meeting people, Zita has lots of personality in her foster home. A talker, Zita will let her foster mom know how she feels. Zita is treat motivated, potty trained, and walks well on a leash. Zita knows sit and goes in her kennel when you say round up.
