Story
I got him as a few month old puppy. He was great at first but its now clear to me he is really meant to be a working dog and not much of a house pet. He has behavioral issues from being inside such as resource guarding. I think he would do much better on a farm or working dog environment with livestock. He was born Dec 1st 2024. I don't have any papers for him as he was a rescue but I was assured he is a purebred and has all of the traits. I had him tested a while ago for hip dysplasia and other joint issues and he is fully cleared on that. He should be perfectly healthy for a long time to come. I really hope he can be adopted by someone with a better environment for him as I feel I cannot provide the home he truly needs or deserves. He knows basic tricks and is potty trained. He can be extremely stubborn. He walks on a leash well. He knows verbal and hand commands but prefers hand.

Story
Cheddar is a very sweet boy, who has high anxiety. He needs lots of space and someone devoted who will work with him to help counter the anxieties and quirks of his unique breed combination. He like to bust out of our suburban yard and wander (great pyr trait) and he does have a higher small prey drive (husky trait). Overall, though, he's an absolute love who deserves more space and training time than we can give him.

** Tune in to our Facebook page (Great Pyrenees Rescue Society - GPRS) every Sunday at 3pm CT to see our dogs LIVE!  You can also find previous episodes on our YouTube channel (@gprspyrs). If you would like a specific dog to be featured on our show, please email us at info@greatpyreneesrescuesociety.org. **  If Hannah were a novel, she’d be one of those beautifully written slow burns—the kind that pulls you in gently, page by page, until you realize you’ve fallen completely in love. This lovely little lady is a Great Pyrenees with a calm spirit, a quiet soul, and just a dash of mystery. Born around July 2022, Hannah’s not the life-of-the-party type—more like the girl in the corner reading poetry, waiting for someone kind enough to sit down and really see her. She’s the kind of girl who prefers soft-spoken love stories over action movies, and she’s not one to rush into things. New people? She’ll need a minute. But once you earn her trust (hint: gentle pets and soft voices are her love language), she’ll reward you with the kind of loyalty that will melt your heart into a puddle. Since settling into her foster home, Hannah has begun to discover the art of silliness, especially when playing with the resident dog, her furry partner in backyard shenanigans. Hannah will need a canine companion in her forever home—someone to show her the ropes, share the zoomies, and remind her that life is better with a buddy. Hannah is a smaller Great Pyrenees, which means she brings all the floofy charm of the breed in a slightly more compact package—perfect for those who’ve always dreamed of a Pyr but weren’t sure they had the square footage! Leashes are still a bit of a mystery to her, so she’ll need someone who’s willing to teach her at her own pace—but with kindness and consistency, she’ll learn they’re just another way to walk beside you. Hannah is looking for a home that’s quiet, steady, and full of love—the kind of place where she can take a deep breath and finally exhale. She’s not flashy or loud, but if you’re a person who believes quiet love is the loudest kind, and that every great dog deserves their time to bloom—Hannah may just be your perfect match. Story
If your checklist includes finding a furry adventure buddy with a love for people and all things outdoorsy, Howie is your guy. Born around June 2017, Howie’s ideal match would be an active owner who loves exploring as much as he does. While he’s perfectly content to spend the day lounging on the back porch or catching up on his beauty sleep, Howie also has bursts of playful energy that will remind you just how fun life can be! Walks are his favorite, and while he may get a bit excited at the sight of other dogs, a confident owner with a firm grip will make those outings a breeze. Handsome, intelligent, and as sweet as they come, Howie is a social guy who loves making new friends. Once you’ve earned his trust, he’s the most loyal companion you could hope for. While he’s not the type to crawl into your lap for a cuddle, he’ll happily lay by your feet while you work, offering quiet support and the occasional side-eye if you’re not sharing snacks. Howie’s ideal family would be an experienced and active one, without cats, small dogs, or young children—teenagers are more his speed! He’d thrive with a large lady dog companion, or as the solo star of the show with an owner who knows their way around big, lovable pups. This boy is bursting with love and loyalty, just waiting for the right person to share it with—preferably someone with treats and hiking boots. If you would like a specific dog to be featured on our show, please email us at info@greatpyreneesrescuesociety.org.** Meet Humphry—a sweet little lovebug with the soul of a poet. As the biggest pup in his litter, you might assume he would be the rowdy kid in the bunch, but Humphry’s the one quietly taking it all in—like a little philosopher in fur. While his siblings bounce and tumble, Humphry is often found taking in the world with curious eyes, as if he’s making sure he doesn’t miss a single detail. Born in May 2025, Humphry is the kind of pup who’d rather give you a soft puppy kiss than wrestle for the spotlight. He’s a certified snuggler, happiest when he’s curled up in your lap and soaking in every hug and kiss you’re willing to give. Calm, sweet, and irresistibly cuddly, Humphry is proof that the biggest paws can belong to the softest soul. Whoever scoops up this little cutie is in for a lifetime of puppy smooches and loyal companionship. Humphry will need obedience training as he gets older and mature. There is a lot for a puppy to learn and like all small puppies, he will need someone who can be home with him a lot and provide him with love, patience and boundaries to help him become a loyal companion. He loves the companionship of other animals and requires another dog in the home to act as his mentor as he continues to understand the rules of his new world. ADOPT HERE: Complete an Adoption Application for your Pyr-fect new family companion at https://gprs.rescuegroups.org/forms/form?formid=6206. PUPPIES ARE ONLY PLACED IN HOMES WITH YOUTHFUL, PLAYFUL RESIDENT DOGS WHO ARE AT LEAST 50 POUNDS. Our requirements for puppy adoptions are simple and necessary. Our puppies are not livestock guardians, they are family pets that live inside of the family home. Puppies must be placed in homes with a youthful, adult resident dog of similar size. This gives the puppy a mentor and a solid foundation for becoming part of the family. Puppies are only adopted to homes with someone at home at least part of the day. If no one is home for 6-8 hours at a time, please do not apply. Preference is always given to those with Great Pyrenees experience. Applicants must have secure, visible fencing and a socialization plan in place. The fastest way to be considered for a puppy is to fill out an application. Adoption is not first come, first served. GPRS and its fosters work diligently to find the right fit for each and every unique dog and puppy. Applicant’s personal pets must be current on vaccines & heartworm/flea prevention and be altered.
