Story
We think it’s high time for Maverick to find his wingman, or wingwoman. He was running loose and living under a vacant trailer for a couple of years and had to be trapped by the amazing Duck Team 6.  He arrived here with skin issues and very little hair.  He was standoffish and unsure of his new life style. He has made a huge turn around and not only sporting a beautiful coat but a wonderful personality.  He is very unhappy when cats or dogs come into his space and barks in hopes that they will leave. He will probably be happier as an only pet though he has had a couple of dog buddies that lived next to him. He would thrive in an all adult home. Story
Say hello to Bowie. When Bowie came to us from a Texas animal shelter as a stray, he was a mess - dirty, matted, malnourished and his coat was dull and thin in places. But after some good groceries, lots of TLC and a trip to the groomer, you have a dog that is a diamond in the rough. He has a gorgeous face and tail that shows what this handsome boy will look like when he is finished being polished! He stays out of his crate most of the day either lying beside her on the cool tile or beside her on the sofa wanting to play, or in the yard playing with the resident pawsibs. This sweet boy loves attention and petting and has been known to pass out a few kisses! Bowie wants to be wherever you are. Born around August 2019, he is young, playful and would do well with a resident canine companion and a secure, fenced yard to romp and play in. He is housetrained and sleeps well in a kennel all night without a bark or whine. He eats well, does not counter surf, but does look to see what’s for dinner on the kitchen table. He’s very much a gentleman and is respectful in the house and does not run indoors. He plays well with the resident pawsibs, ignores the foster Mom’s birds, and though he doesn’t play much with toys, he likes to chew on bones. He rides well in the car but is lacking in the desire to get in the car and walk on a leash, which will come in time. This boy is going to make someone a great companion! Don’t pass him up -- you’ll be glad you didn’t! Bowie is available for adoption in Texas only. Story
Hello! My name is Shep, and I’m a handsome Great Pyrenees with soft, gentle eyes that match my demeanor. Born in August 2022, I began my life with a family that didn’t treat me well, but luckily the Great Pyrenees Rescue Society took me in and my life has been changed forever!  At first, I had a hard time trusting humans, but my foster dad and his little pup Finn worked really hard to earn my trust.  I gradually began to realize that my foster dad is pretty alright, and my confidence started to grow. One day I released a joyful bark as an experiment to see how my foster dad would react, and he came close, gave me a gentle pat on the head and a kiss on the nose. That sealed the deal for me, because I knew at that moment that I was safe.  Now, I’m a super happy and playful pup with a smile for miles!  I love to explore my surroundings, and I’m super curious about the world around me. I love to play with the other dogs I live with, and I’m great with kids too.  And I really love my humans, especially when they give me lots of love, ear scratches, and belly rubs. Who doesn’t love that?  I’m a sweet and affectionate guy with a very loving disposition. I’ve been told that I’m a remarkable and gentle soul of a dog who has overcome great adversity in my life….all I know is that I have a heart full of love and I can’t wait to share it with my forever family!  Shep is available for adoption in Texas only. Story
Meet Lumi, the gentle sweetheart of the canine world whose name is as luminous as her personality. Born in February 2022, Lumi is a lovebug who is all about her humans and loves nothing more than spending time with her family. When she’s feeling playful, she expresses her joy in the most adorable way—by rolling on her back in the yard, kicking her legs in the air as if she’s painting the sky with her paws. Despite her playful antics, Lumi is a quiet girl who doesn’t bark much, making her the perfect companion for those who appreciate the quieter moments in life. She’s a feline-friendly gal, coexisting peacefully with cats and embracing every creature in her gentle embrace. Lumi is a master of relaxation, whether it’s lounging with her beloved humans, sprawling on her bed, or finding the coolest spot on the floor. Belly rubs and brushing sessions are her absolute favorites, and she’ll melt into a puddle of contentment under your gentle touch. Outdoors, Lumi is a self-sufficient spirit who sometimes seeks solace in the shade, pondering the mysteries of squirrels and rustling leaves.  Other times, she enjoys the simple pleasure of lying by her foster mom’s feet on the porch, soaking in the tranquility of her surroundings. Lumi’s ideal forever home is one with a loving family that speaks the language of soft tones and has the time to shower her with affection. Calm and gentle handling are a must for Lumi, especially as she’s still getting used to leashes. And here’s the secret ingredient: Lumi thrives when she has another dog companion by her side—a loyal friend to share adventures and cozy cuddles. In essence, Lumi is not just looking for a home; she’s looking for a forever family where she will be cherished as much as she will cherish them. If you’re ready to be the light in Lumi’s life and gently guide her on her new adventure, she’s ready to brighten yours with her gentle soul and loving heart.  ADOPT HERE: Complete an Adoption Application for your Pyr-fect new family companion at https://gprs.rescuegroups.org/forms/form?formid=6206. Story
Hi I am Leonardo- a Great Pyrenees born around August 2020. I'm good with all sizes of dogs and love my furry foster siblings (a Chihuahua, Rat Terrier and Great Pyrenees).  I can be a bit selective when it comes to other male dogs so best to take introductions slowly.  I even like the cat!.  I prefer to sleep on the doggie bed and sometimes get into trouble for counter surfing but we are working on that!  I’m doing pretty well learning my commands and have mastered stay, sugars (kisses) and come.  I’m working on “sit” but haven’t been convinced to do that one yet.  I love my foster family and do great with the kids.  When it comes to meeting strangers, I may be a bit hesitant at first but once I have a chance to do a bit of sniffing, I am fine. I am not a fan of playing in water, but I do love to drink it!  I’m a big gentle giant that just wants to be loved and love back and can be a bit of a leaner when I’m getting pets. Story
Meet Sulas, affectionately known as Sully, the lovable bundle of quirk ready to steal your heart! Born in April 2022, Sully is a stunningly handsome boy with a charming personality, ensuring he’ll make a lasting impression wherever he goes. This big playful goof is always up for a romp with his foster sister Mita, especially if it involves zooming around at record-breaking speeds and splashing through rain puddles. Despite his playful nature, Sully also has a mellow side and enjoys lounging around and contemplating the world around him. He's affectionate in his own laid-back way and loves nothing more than a good cuddle. Sully has outgrown the typical puppy antics and now boasts top-notch house manners and a repertoire of basic commands. Sully is an easy companion to have around with his excellent leash skills and his willingness to head to his crate, especially if there's a delicious treat waiting for him.  Sully thrives on running and playing at the dog park, so a spacious yard or easy access to a nearby park is essential for his happiness. While he's not a fan of cats or small dogs, Sully gets along famously with bigger canine companions and people of all ages and sizes.  Sully could thrive as either an only dog or alongside a compatible female friend, especially if it’s his foster sister, Mita.  So, if you’re looking for a huggable, lovable companion with a penchant for puddle-jumping and a heart full of love, Sully is your guy.
