Story
Cheddar is a very sweet boy, who has high anxiety. He needs lots of space and someone devoted who will work with him to help counter the anxieties and quirks of his unique breed combination. He like to bust out of our suburban yard and wander (great pyr trait) and he does have a higher small prey drive (husky trait). Overall, though, he's an absolute love who deserves more space and training time than we can give him.

Story
I got him as a few month old puppy. He was great at first but its now clear to me he is really meant to be a working dog and not much of a house pet. He has behavioral issues from being inside such as resource guarding. I think he would do much better on a farm or working dog environment with livestock. He was born Dec 1st 2024. I don't have any papers for him as he was a rescue but I was assured he is a purebred and has all of the traits. I had him tested a while ago for hip dysplasia and other joint issues and he is fully cleared on that. He should be perfectly healthy for a long time to come. I really hope he can be adopted by someone with a better environment for him as I feel I cannot provide the home he truly needs or deserves. He knows basic tricks and is potty trained. He can be extremely stubborn. He walks on a leash well. He knows verbal and hand commands but prefers hand.

Story
What my friends at OHS say about me: My name is Qistibi (though some of my favorite people also call me Glacier). I've been spending the last fwe months in a foster home, and I've grown into a confident, playful, affectionate dog! It can take me a little time to get comfortable with new people, but once I see that I can trust you, I'll show you why all the staff and volunteers love me.I love cuddling, zooming around the backyard, looking out the window with my dog sister and eating tasty treats! Things I don't like include scary vacuums, lawn mowers and other loud noises. I will need to meet any canine companions prior to getting adopted. To learn more about my specific needs, please read my What to Expect handout. The type of home I'm looking for: I must go to a home with a fenced in yard and a low traffic neighborhood. Everyone living in the household will need to meet prior to my adoption.I will need to meet any resident dogs first before going home with you.To learn more about, my specific needs, please read my What to Expect handout. My adoption process: OHS has created a more in-depth adoption questionnaire, which can be accessed via the "Meet Me" button at the top of the profile.Once it is reviewed, you will receive an email with a link to schedule a phone consultation. After your consult, if it feels like a good match, your adoption counselor will schedule an in-person meet and greet and you will meet me with our volunteer and staff handlers. If you fall in love, you will have the option to come in and spend time with me to build a relationship prior to adopting! Primary Color: White Weight: 90 Age: 8yrs 2mths 3wks

What my friends at OHS say about me:I have been working with the Behavior team at OHS and I'm looking for a special home. It will take time and patience to get to know me. Click the "meet me" button to start the process and schedule an appointment. To learn more about my specific needs, please read my What to Expect handout.I love to learn! You can use my favorite toys or treats as positive reinforcement and to teach me new things.Shy and Nervous: I can be worried about new people, new surroundings and touch. I prefer to take things at my own pace and will need to live in a calm environment.I may be shy at first, but once we get to know each other I will shower you with love!I am still learning how to walk on leash, especially in new environments that can be overwhelming. I need verbal encouragement, patience and of course treats from you to help me!I can't wait to show my new family how playful I am!I had so much fun meeting other dogs here in the shelter. My friends at OHS think I would be great at making new dog friends! The type of home I'm looking for:I would flourish in a calm environment and a low-traffic home away from busy downtown like neighborhoods.I may do best in a home where there is another dog to help boost my confidence and for me to play with.I will need to meet any canine companions prior to getting adopted. I need to go to a home without small children, as loud noises and fast movement can frighten me.It could be with you! Click here to learn about the adoption process. Story
What my friends at OHS say about me:I came from a special rescue case and have a lot to learn. The amazing staff and volunteers have been teaching me how to wear a collar, getting used to a leash, and what it means to be a human's best friend. My foster parents (who have nicknamed me "Toe Bean") say I'm the best!I love the outdoors, watching my favorite TV show (Bluey), playing with my pittie foster brother, and trying to steal spices off of the spice rack! I've been really good with potty training, and have gained a lot of confidence in my foster home!It will be important to spend a few weeks with me in a secure back yard before trying to introduce me to new places, people or things. I am at my best when I get a lot of support and do better with people I have built a trusting relationship with.If I become afraid or startled, I might try to bolt or may pull a leash out of your hands. The type of home I require: I must go to a home with a fully fenced yard. No apartments or busy neighborhoods.Everyone living in the household will need to meet prior to my adoption.I need to go to a home where there is another dog to help boost my confidence and to play with!I will need to meet any resident dogs first before going home with you.To learn more about, my specific needs, please read my What to Expect handout.
