Name: Bishop Age: 1 year Breed: Husky/Collie mix Size: 55 lbs Adoption Application: https://forms.gle/nuKXoMu6gjS5DhFm8 Contact: transport@hssm.org Meet Bishop! Bishop was actually born here at our shelter in Mississippi after his mom was picked up as a stray. He was adopted out when he was a tiny pup but due to his owner financial and living situations changed, she had to surrender him back to us. This sweet guy is quite laid back and adjusts well to new things. His owner did let us know that Bishop is potty and kennel trained. He gets along well with other dogs, kids, and even cats. He would make a great addition to any family. Bishop is up to date on vaccines, neutered, and is heartworm negative. If you want to know more about him, please contact us here at the Humane Society of South Mississippi. Bishop's $300 adoption fee includes spay/neuter, up to date vaccines, microchip AND transport fee to a location near you. We currently have transportation to CT, MD, NJ, NY, PA, VA, GA, and TN. Please email transport@hssm.org for more information on transports! --> If you are interested in adopting Bishop please fill out our online application here: (https://forms.gle/nuKXoMu6gjS5DhFm8 - Dog). A staff member will reach out if your application is approved to discuss the adoption process. No fenced in yard required, and YES - we adopt to families with children! The adoption will not be final until the adoption contract is discussed and signed. Transports are arranged for specific dates, typically within 1-3 weeks of approving your application. Adopters will meet at a designated meeting spot to pick up their new companions. For further information, please first fill out the application referenced above. **Due to import regulations we are not able to adopt to MA or RI residents at this time.

This clever boy is always ready for some fun and can keep up with even the most active of humans. He's a social butterfly who loves to meet new doggos and people, making him the life of the paw-ty. He's also a quick learner and will impress you with his smarts. Aside from being a sociable pup, Howie is also a great family dog. He gets along well with other dogs and is good with kids. He's the perfect addition to any home looking for a furry friend to keep them entertained and loved. Are you ready for some Howie-day fun? Come meet Howie and see for yourself why he's the perfect companion. Adopt him today and welcome a bundle of joy into your family. Come see Howie at The River Lane, 7 Main Street, Essex, CT on June 28th and 29th, from 11:00am to 4:00pm. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN ANY OF OUR DOGS PLEASE APPLY ONLINE IMMEDIATELY. See www.godogdays.org for details. Here is more information about me: GENERAL BEHAVIOR AND IDEAL HOME: Most rescues will not adopt out dogs, including puppies, to families with children under the age of 6 years old. Rescues will not allow dogs or puppies to go to homes where they will be crated during the full work day. The rescue has noticed this dog is generally good with dogs. However dogs, like people, act differently in different settings and a new adopter should expect there will be an adjustment period of time before before the dog settles in to a new home. At this time we ONLY adopt to residents of the state of Connecticut who live no more than one hour from the event site. GENERAL VETERINARY CARE: I have been ~ spayed/neutered ~ microchipped ~ dewormed ~ heartworm-tested negative if dog is of age to be tested ( 6 months or older) ~ up to date on all age appropriate shots ~ treated with a flea preventative ADOPTION FEES Rescues participating in our events are not allowed to charge more than $450 an adoption fee and some adoption fees are much less - it depends on what the rescue chooses to charge - Dog Days does not take any portion of the adoption fees. ONLINE ADOPTION APPLICATION FORM: https://redletterbusiness.wufoo.com/forms/find-my-new-best-friend/ (Copy and paste to browser.) ADOPTION PROCESS - Before the Event If you would like to begin the application process, please fill in the form at the link above and we will review your information, call your personal and well as vet references. PLEASE Fill in the application if you're interested in adoption, this will save you time at the event. We hope you will understand the careful scrutiny of potential adopters is not only for the safety and well-being of the dog but also for a positive experience for your household. Thank you for saving the life of a shelter dog through adoption; you are truly a hero. -- A letter from your vet on their letterhead will also be very helpful if they won't be open for us to call as a reference. -- If you are renting, please note you must have a written letter of permission from your landlord to own a dog on their property. Dog Days will be conducting interviews of prospective adopters. -- If you have never owned a dog and therefore do not have a vet reference let us know right away and we'll try to do a home visit before the adoption weekend. First time adopters need a quick home visit to make sure they are ready to take a dog home for the first time. ADOPTION PROCESS - During the Event Weekend -- Plan on spending at least three to four hours going through the adoption process. We want you to be completely confident in your new pal so we will ask you to speak to a trainer, a veterinarian as well as interview with a member of our adoption team and the rescue. -- As a policy, Dog Days will not hold dogs for potential adopters so it is important to come to the event by 11:00am Saturday morning if you have your heart set on a particular dog. -- PLEASE NOTE THAT DOGS ARE GIVEN TO THE BEST HOME, NOT FIRST IN LINE. -- At this time we ONLY adopt to residents of the state of Connecticut who live no more than one hour from the event site. Each dog and puppy has been seen by a Connecticut veterinarian who will also be on site to answer any questions you may have. We'll have professional groomers on site to give your new pal a bath before you take them home (no charge) and our adoption bags will give you information and samples for use at home. See www.godogdays.org for details.

Story
Leo is a sweet and affectionate 1 year and 6 month old boy whom we brought home at 2 months old. He is neutered, healthy, and full of love. Leo is incredibly cute, playful, friendly, and energetic. He enjoys companionship and does best with regular walks, playtime, and attention. We usually take him to the dog park to help burn off his energy, which he loves, but due to our busy work schedule, it has become difficult to do this consistently. Leo is a strong and enthusiastic walker and would benefit from leash training, as he tends to pull. With patience and consistency, he has great potential to improve. Unfortunately, I’m unable to give him the time and activity level he truly deserves, and he is often left alone. This decision comes from love and concern for his well-being. My goal is to find Leo a safe, kind, and active home where he will receive proper care, exercise, and affection, and where he can truly thrive.

He’s neutered, fully vetted, and ready to find his forever home. Arlo currently lives with young children, teenagers, other dogs, and cats — and he gets along wonderfully with them all. He’s a gentle soul with a playful spirit, making him a perfect fit for a variety of families, but especially active ones! The only thing Arlo isn’t too fond of? Poultry. She already knows basic commands including sit, shake, and touch, Nova is doing very well with both potty training and kennel training and has adapted quickly to a home environment. Story
Cleo is a beautiful 3½-year-old Husky, German Shepherd, and Shar Pei mix with the sweetest soul. She came into my life when she was about 2 years old after her previous owners had to rehome her due to moving. Since then, she has shown nothing but love. She’s affectionate, playful, and truly loves being around people. She likes being included in daily life—whether that’s hanging out with family, going on walks, or enjoying time outdoors. She’s an active girl who enjoys exercise, mental stimulation, and exploring outside. Cleo does best with regular walks, playtime, and activities that keep her engaged. Because she loves people so much, she would thrive in a home where someone is around often and treats her as part of the family. Cleo is house-trained, well-mannered, knows her commands and loves kids. She’s gentle, friendly, and eager to bond with her humans.
