Story
This friend has just arrived because their owner could no longer keep them. While owners can provide some history on their pets, our medical and behavioral teams will still evaluate them. Dogs that have lived in homes previously typically have some training established, but we cannot guarantee that those behaviors will remain consistent in a new home environment. They are pending interactions with other animals at the shelter until they have been cleared by our vet. Our staff will spend some time getting to know them and we will update their bio with more information as we learn. If you are interested in adopting this dog, please submit an adoption questionnaire! Our adoption process is on a first-come, best-match basis and we are not able to hold animals. If you are interested in this specific dog but it ends up not being the best fit upon meeting, our adoption counselors will work with you to help find a match! All household members, including children and other dogs, must come along for the meeting to make sure it's a good fit. If a match is made, we encourage same-day adoptions! Our adoption fees include the animals' spay/neuter, microchip, age-appropriate vaccinations and preventatives, fecal testing, heartworm testing, and a small bag of food to get you started.

Story
This friend has just arrived to us as a stray. When animals are found as strays, our staff will search for an owner. If no one comes to reclaim the pet, we will begin looking for a new home. Unfortunately, we rarely have a background on stray animals. Our staff will spend some time getting to know them and update their bio with more information as we learn. They are pending interactions with other animals until they have been cleared by our vet. Please note that we are often unsure of house, crate, car, and leash training status upon arrival. Story
Pochi was originally rescued by a foster and then adopted by us, he’s been up and down the east coast. He’s super playful and energetic, definitely a good adventure partner. He’s roughly two years old, loves snow, not a fan of rain and not a picky eater. The only reason for rehoming is that our senior dog never adapted to having a brother and it severely limits everyone’s time and space. Pochi loves other dogs but hasn’t lived in close quarters with many people or animals in a while so it would take some getting used to and proper introductions. He can be standoffish with new people and over excitable with new dogs so he’ll need supervision and guidance. He would do best with one or two people who are willing to give home the space to run and play to his hearts desires. He’s crate trained and currently sleeps in the crate at night. And for those who are curious- he’s an Aries :)

Story
I am considering dog sharing with the right person. Unfortunately, a household member is allergic to him and he has to stay in sunroom and outside mostly. I would love to find someone near Galena, MD who would want to take him on the weekends or weekdays to be able to provide some more one on one time, another dog companion and walks. His breed is a NAID. He is a very friendly dog, timid at first but once he knows you he is very friendly and happy to be with you, play ball, go on walks or hang out for a bit on the couch. He is great with kids. Good with my cats. Would need a secure fence that is at least 5 feet high. Prefer you have another dog for him to have some playtime. If you are interested in having a part time dog, please fill out the application. Thank you.

Story
His name is Noah. He is updated on all his shots and he even has a microchip. He’s a 9 year old Siberian Husky. I got him from a family that was moving out of the country and they couldn’t take him. They told me he was 6 but after receiving his paperwork, I found out he was 9. He’s neutered and he’s well trained. He’s actually a really good boy. Where he was previously he had a big backyard and was mainly outside. I live in an Apartment and he’s been adjusting well but with my schedule, I barely have time to take him out and I feel so bad. I’m looking for someone who has a home or who has the time to be able to take care of him. Noah is such a loving dog and my fiancée and I really love him but we don’t have the means to really provide him the best life he deserves. I put $50 because we’ve spent a good amount of money on Noah but honestly you don’t have to give me anything. Just a promise that Noah will be taken care of. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me.

Story
ABOUT LUNA Meet princess Luna, a 4-year-old Husky mix seeking a patient, experienced owner who understands her unique personality. Luna arrived at HAP, scared and unsure of the world around her. While we don’t know her full history, it’s clear she has endured some hardships. It took her a while to trust us, so she may need patience at your first meeting, but once she feels safe, her true self shines through! Luna is a sweet, playful, and wonderfully goofy girl with a classic Husky sassiness. She’s vocal about her feelings, loves playing with toys of all kinds, and enjoys chasing tennis balls. She thrives spending time outside sniffing, running, and playing. Once inside, she loves to curl up on her fluffy blankets and chew on her bones. Luna has a “less is more” quality, she’ll leave you wanting more, and she appreciates a slower, respectful approach when first meeting new people. While Luna has been able to pass other dogs with redirection, she hasn’t made any canine friends yet and may do best as the only pet in a home where she can be the pampered princess. Once she feels comfortable, she seeks out and enjoys affection, but she communicates her boundaries clearly and may escalate if her space isn’t respected. For this reason, Luna would thrive with older, respectful family members who understand and honor her communication style. With patience, love, and understanding, Luna will grow into a loyal and loving companion who brings joy, laughter, and a touch of Husky mischief into your home! **If interested in adopting Luna, please reach out to our trainer, Ben Touchton, at btouchton@hapde.org Our adoption process is on a first-come, best-match basis and we are not able to hold animals.
